Description
Footprints Villa is a large detached 5 bedroom villa with private pool right on the seafront in the lovely mainland village of Viganj, Croatia.I also have my own web site. Booking deposit 25%. Balance only due 8 weeks before your holiday. Click 'PRICES' to view my rates.
Fully restored, this 19th century former sea captains residence enjoys stunning south-westerly facing sea views and beyond to the island of Korcula.
The villa is located in the historic seaside village of Viganj (pronounced vee-gan), north of Dubrovnik on the Dalmatian mainland. Being on the mainland, there is no need to catch a ferry to island destinations, saving hours of travel time, especially in peak season. Viganj is opposite the famed island of Korcula, where you can enjoy experiencing the old 12th century walled city - accessible via the little foot ferry that leaves just 100m from the villa.
Viganj has many excellent family run restaurants, serving seafood caught in the bay. The village is also Croatia's premium windsurfing and kiteboarding capital, with great facilities, tuition for beginners and quite a spectical for those on shore to enjoy (the villa's seafront terraces overlook the main areas).
For those wishing to stay closer to shore, the village has delightful little beaches, with boutique bars dotted along the sea edge through the village and beyond.
It's a perfect safe, seaside escape for groups & families.
Just a little about myself and my villa home...I am Richard, the British owner. After buying the property, we spent 3 years of painstaking and dedicated restoration using local craftsmen.
If you choose to come and stay, I can arrange low cost airport (Dubrovnik) transfers to and from the the villa, far cheaper than those offered on line through a general search. Cars can be hired locally for days out. I also offer a free pre-arrival shopping service - just send me a list for provisions you will require for your first evening/breakfast only, and all will be awaiting you upon your arrival. Groceries simply charged as detailed on the receipt.
My sea edge villa home has exposed original stone blending with stylish, contemporary finishings, hi-end sanitary ware & furnishings. Footprints is fully air-conditioned, and heated if you come in the cooler months. The villa actually dates back 2 centuries and its original features have been carefully retained, yet it offers modern elegance in one the most amazing location one would wish to find in Croatia.
You'd fly to Dubrovnik (I can advise about flights and book luxury transfers for you.
My home is right on the sea front, near the 18th century church in the middle of the village so no car is needed, as every facility one requires (beaches, bars, restaurant, shop, water taxi) is no more than 100 metres in either direction.
The TV system runs UKTV2GO - a Internet system to provide top UK and International channels.
Of course, there is free wireless Internet all through the villa.
You may be interested to read in the publication - 'The Croatian Adriatic', published by N&N, available on line and a definitive guide to Croatia, that it states in this region's section - 'the houses & bay of Viganj form what is the most beautiful location on the Adriatic'.
The lovely pool is private and is in the rear courtyard, and a good size of 8.3mx 6m. It's surrounded by sun beds & has a locally made stone dining table for all. The villa is fully gated to secure little wandering guests from escaping.
The front of the villa, overlooking the clear and inviting Adriatic is the real unique feature of my villa. A huge terrace, west facing with comfy settee for lounging, and a further stone table and chairs for sunset dining is such a special place to just take in the beauty with your family and friends.
It's worth noting that Viganj hosts the national, and every few words the World windsurfing championships, so from the terrace you can watch the pro's doing there stuff as well as have a go yourself. Tuition is offered on our beach to beginners. If teenagers are in your party, they will love to 'hang out' with the surfers (one of my first photos shows the beach, (with bars for a beer) from where this exhilarating sport can be enjoyed...or just watched!).

By Grace Heath on 12-Aug-2025A Perfect Getaway – Beautiful Villa in an Ideal Location!! We had the most wonderful stay at this beautiful, well-equipped villa. The villa itself is spotless, spacious, and, with all the amenities you could possibly need for a comfortable and relaxing holiday. The location is absolutely perfect and only a short walk to a great selection of bars, and restaurants. We spent many evenings strolling along the front discovering new spots for dinner or drinks. A day trip to the stunning island of Korčula is a must the old town is simply magical, full of history, charming streets, and beautiful waterfront views. We also decided to venture a bit further and took a drive into Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was an unforgettable experience. The drive itself is scenic and well worth the effort. We visited the breathtaking Kravice Waterfalls – absolutely spectacular and great for a swim – and continued on to Mostar. The Old Bridge and surrounding area are so rich in culture and history; it was a memorable day. All in all, this villa was the perfect base for exploring the best of the region while also enjoying plenty of relaxation. We would return in a heartbeat!
A Great Place to Chill Out

Very spacious and well equipped villa in a very unspoilt location with lovely views of the sea and mountains. The nearest restaurant and bar Karmela ( 3 min walk) provided wonderful fish platters as a take away and we just dropped the platters back. Lovely place to eat in or have a drink as well. Richard the owner is very responsive to messages and helpful with all arrangements. He also has a very charming agent in situ.
What A Perfect Villa

The private pool at the rear offered a great place to hang out and cool off, and the air conditioning in the main living spaces and bedrooms ensured a very comfortable environment. The many little patches of beach and small jetties just from the villa were ideal for us and provided easy access to the beautiful crystal clear sea. We even found some small patches of sand for our grandson to make sand castles with. Just a few minuets walk away there were some great restaurants, bars and places to hire windsurfers, kites etc. The private taxi (speed boat !) over to Korcula was so easy to use, although it was a bit choppy when we went, and we did get a bit splashed - which only added to the fun. Richard was extremely helpful and informative while we were planning our holiday, and sorted out airport transfers for our group which worked perfectly. Richard's representative Fani looked after our every need while we were in the villa without being in our face - we just had a WhatsApp group with her which we used to ask for any assistance. Overall, a perfect experience for us and some special memories for our family to share. I would definitely recommend, and hope to return ourselves some day.
A Wonderful Stay

We enjoyed the relaxed village beach vibes and just a short stroll along the road for delicious food on the beach. Villa is spacious, well equipped and worked really well for us as two families on holiday together, we thought it was great. Enjoying a coffee on the front patio, looking out to sea, what a treat and luxury, missing it already, we would love to return.
Beautiful Villa
By Chris on 10-May-2025Villa lovely and spacious with lots of bathrooms! Villa set in a lovely part of viganji. We enjoyed boat trips, and soaking up the sun. Local supermarket very close by. Local bar friendly, some bars/bakery not open yet due to low season, however this didn't spoil our holiday as Fani arranged trips for us and Petar a great taxi service. When waking up in the morning ,the sea was beautiful colour, from the villa windows, then breakfast by the pool or terrace.... Beautiful Property

It was just perfect for the whole family and the welcome food was very much appreciated. Your pre visit information was comprehensive and proved invaluable. We had a wonderful meal at your favourite restaurant so thank you for that recommendation. Petar was equally invaluable so many thanks to him as well. Viganj is such a special beautiful place, with just the laid back feeling we all loved. It was great for the children who veered between the pool and the sea quite content in the company of their cousins thus totally relaxing for their parents. As for the incident with the shutter , it was dealt with efficiently and with little interruption to our day so thank you. In Footprints you have created a perfect holiday home in a delightful location. but know that this must have been achieved with so much thought and care. We felt privileged to to stay in your beautiful house. Thank you.
