Description

Villa de Cour is a beautiful, spacious and imposing old farmhouse, with a living area of 250m2. It has been renovated whilst maintaining the original features, . including an ancient barn, village well and bread oven. The spacious enclosed rear garden has access to the gated 10 x 5m swimming pool. There is covered parking and the front garden includes a stone terrace with barbecue overlooking a walnut grove and the countryside beyond. It is an ideal house for one or two families, or a large group of friends to relax in peaceful, rural surroundings.

Situated in the small hamlet of La Germenie in beautiful countryside, the house is ideally placed for exploring the major tourist attractions of the Dordogne Valley, such as:
- the medieval towns of Sarlat, Montignac and Domme
- the famous Lascaux caves with their prehistoric cave paintings
- numerous castles, eg Hautefort, Jumilhac le Grand, Beynac, Castelnaud
- kayaking on the river.

It is 2km from the delightful village of Sainte Orse where you can enjoy a coffee in the square, buy fresh bread and eat at the local hotel. Supermarkets and more restaurants are a 10 minute drive away in Hautefort or Thenon. There are many local walks and bike routes on designated paths and quiet local roads.

A gorgeous escape to the French countryside

I could not recommend this house enough. There is space to comfortably house a large group. The setting is absolutely beautiful and bike rides up to the local village for baguettes and coffee are a must. There are also lots of lovely places to visit that are only a short drive away. The house itself is packed full of history and character plus the swimming pool is amazing in the hot sun. 5 stars all round.

Restful and lovely

We very much enjoyed our stay here. Rural, definitely, but wonderfully peaceful and easy access to nearby towns and villages. The house is well equipped and has a real rustic charm to it that added to the whole holiday. Plenty of space to relax and enjoy the pool and garden games. Overall the whole group had a great time and returned home with stress levels reduced. Will definitely return.
