Perfect holiday in a wonderful house

By Emma Johnston on 25-Aug-2019

La Maison Guardian is beautiful, extremely comfortable and in a lovely setting. Our hosts went 'the extra mile' to make us feel at home and welcome. We really enjoyed hearing the history of the house. The pool is wonderful because it is large and so not problem sharing it with others. Very pretty local towns and countryside. The only problem we had was that we were only there for a week and wished we had booked two. Next time and there will be a next time we will make it longer.

It really is lovely

By Laura Phillips on 10-Aug-2019

This was one of those unusual occasions when the pictures did the house, gardens and pool justice. We were thrilled with it all and had everything we wanted.

The house is quiet and we slept brilliantly in the very comfy beds. The house was cool and made for a fabulous retreat from the heat of the sun. And we loved eating on our private little terrace at night. The kitchen is roomy and very light so it was a pleasure to cook the local farm produce in.

The pool was very refreshing and it was very easy to relax next to it on the loungers and either read or chat with the guests staying at Amanda and Patrick's other property.

And that brings me to our hosts who were there when we were feeling sociable or needed them, and weren't when we weren't or didn't.

The really telling thing is that we are planning on going back.

Beautiful property

By Helena on 28-Jul-2018

We had a fantastic holiday. The property is lovely, and the pool and garden are gorgeous. Patrick and his family are very welcoming and helpful. There are many interesting places to visit nearby e.g. Vezenobres, Nimes, Uzes and Sommiere. We also had a brilliant day swimming in the river 50 mins north of the property. We'd definitely recommend La Maison Guardien.

The pictures don’t lie.

By Duncan And Emma, London on 07-Jul-2018

This place is every bit as gorgeous as it looks. When you first get there and see the house and garden you have to do a double take. The bedroom is especially good – boutique hotel good. We stayed in the garden house for a week in July, the weather was perfect and the surrounding area is the best of France in my opinion. We tried all of (owner) Patrick’s recommended places to go and we can recommend them all! We didn’t meet him unfortunately but he and his neighbours are very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I don’t normally write reviews or go back to the same place twice, but not in this case. We will be going back.

Lovely property in a charming village

By Richard, Alex & Finley on 22-May-2018

The setting of this property is truly grand with fabulous gardens and a secluded pool. The property itself had everything we needed with a whole lot of French charm thrown in. It was the first time we’d been away with our 10 month old son and it worked really well. The property had the essentials such as a cot, high chair and changing mat and he loved exploring the house and particularly the garden. Patrick, the owner, was not there during our stay but provided lots of useful information in advance and was always available via text if we needed anything. There was plenty to do and we really enjoyed visiting the local towns and the beach in Montpelier as well as spending some quieter days in the garden. We certainly plan to return.

Beautiful property with wonderful pool

By Catherine Jennings on 29-Jul-2017

We stayed at the property in July 2017 and had a wonderful holiday. The gite at the side of the main house is comfortable and well equipped... the beds were particularly comfy and made for a great night's sleep.

The garden is beautiful and the kids loved finding the toads in the pond and bouncing on the trampoline. The pool is absolutely gorgeous and since we were in need of a quiet break we spent many happy and relaxing hours by the pool while the kids splashed about.

You definitely need a car as (at present at least) there's no shop in the village, but the nearest supermarket is not far away for anything you might need. It's also well places for getting to Alès, Nimes and Uzes where there was a lovely little market the day we visited.

Patrick and Amanda were always on hand if we needed anything but never intrusive and made us feel very welcome in their home. I would not hesitate to recommend the property for a quiet getaway.

Charming French country house in great location

By Suzanne Lang on 10-Jul-2017

We recently stayed at this house with our two grown up sons, whilst my extended family rented the other house attached to this property. This worked very well as the properties all link up, and we could easily share the pool and garden. The house is very comfortable and cool inside (it was very warm outside so a very welcome detail) with plenty of kitchen equipment, comfortable beds, space etc. We all felt very much at home and quickly got into the rhythm of summer in rural France. Patrick the owner is very entertaining and enthusiastic about the area, full of good suggestions about where to eat, wine taste, check out the best markets,be active, be cultural or just be. Lots to do or not, as you wish. Would definitely go back it all just works, the house is just as you imagine a French house in the Gard should be.

Perfect location offers peace and tranquility

By May And Robert on 20-Jun-2017

This was one of the best apartments we have stayed in, in over ten years holidaying in rural France. Maison Guardien is a beautiful property set in a quiet village, yet within easy access to local towns and cities, e.g. Uzes, Pont du Gard and Nimes as well as the amazing sights of The Cevennes. We always enjoyed coming back to the peace and quiet of this lovely house and garden after a day out. The apartment itself is charming, spacious and comfortable with well-appointed kitchen and bathroom. Great to have quality bed-linen too! The owner was very welcoming and helpful. We will certainly be back!

Our French home

By Claire BIrch on 01-Dec-2014

Having first discovered La Maison Guardian in 2012 we have been every year (including as part of our honeymoon!) and so this should speak volumes in itself as we are a well travelled couple who like to explore new places. The property is everything we dreamed of in a French holiday home, decor, facilities, location and local aminities, and as soon as we arrive we relax and don't want to leave. As an added bonus we have had the pleasure of meeting and spending time with Patrick (owner) and his family. When we have the time we often talk about buying a French holiday home the only problem being we have the found the ideal one, and may not be able to ever compromise now.

So lovely we went back a second time

By Kc/djo on 08-Nov-2014

We had fabulous holiday staying at Maison du Guardien. The house itself is beautiful, full of character and extremely comfortable. It feels much more like a home than a holiday rental property. The garden and pool are simply stunning. We have 2 children (5 & 11) who just delighted on being able to swim, trampoline and search for wildlife just outside their door. The owners were extremely helpful and helped make the holiday even more memorable. They helped us find the best places to visit and were a source of immense local knowledge. This region of France is fabulous to explore, Uzes, Nimes, Arles were all easy day trips and well worth a visit. We enjoyed our holiday so much the first time we went back the following year. Very highly recommended.
