Description

The Maison Guardien is self contained, sleeps 4 and is attached to the beautiful main house which was built of stone in the nineteenth century by a producer of violets. It used to house the Guardien or farm workers in days gone by. Ners is a little village on the Gardon river about 25km north of Nimes, and 26km from the medieval market town of Uzes. 2 bedrooms (one double, one twin) bathroom, kitchen and living room. Access to a stunning pool (13mx 6m) shared with the owner, when in residence. Use of all the enormous garden and your own private terrace. Well equipped: Washing machine, dish-washer, barbecue, Linen & Towels, high chair & Cot. Wood burning stove. Wi-fi internet that can be slow at times due to the rural location. Tennis in the village. 40 minutes to Nimes Airport and TGV. 55 minutes to Montpellier and beaches. 30 minutes to Cevennes mountains. Due to steep stairs it is not suitable for people with mobility problems, though we do add a stair gate for toddlers.
Rentals in high season are from Saturday to Saturday with a minimum stay of seven nights. Check in time is 4pm. Check out time is 10am.
We normally ask that 50% deposit is made to secure dates and the balance is due 6 weeks before arrival.
However, due to the uncertainty for the 2021 season we are taking bookings with lower deposits to secure dates, with balance due two weeks before arrival rather than six. We will also fully re-imburse all costs should there be a cancellation due to a government ruling or action that bars travel to France.
Please get in touch by email with any questions you may have.

so relaxing

By Fiona Wright on 05-Jul-2021

We stayed for ten days and didn't want to leave. This was our second visit and we enjoyed it every bit as much as the first. The garden is full of birds, butterflies figs and lavender and the pool is a good size so you can have a proper swim. We also loved the nearby fruit and veg shop with the tastiest tomatoes and the wine caves where you can buy really super wines inexpensively. Also Sommières and Uzès markets and brocantes were better than ever this year.

A beautiful and unique place to stay

By The Owen family. on 15-Aug-2020

We had a lovely week here in August 2020. La Maison Guardian is a cosy, stylish, well equipped and well thought out cottage. it is connected to the very grand main house, but is entirely separate. The garden is simply beautiful and the shared pool is, as the photos show, stunning. Its all very child friendly as well, our boys (8 & 5) had a great time swimming and playing ping pong. Patrick and Amanda are great hosts. They were more than welcoming, always on hand if we needed anything, gave us plenty of space and privacy and were great company. We loved chatting and hearing stories about the house and the village. Ners itself is a lovely, historic village, very easily accessed and ideally placed in between the Cevennes and the sea. Supermarkets are in the towns nearby, although you definitely need a car as there are no shops in the village. In short, don't hesitate to book! We loved it and hope to return one day.

Ners House

By Clare on 08-Aug-2020

The house was beautiful, cool, well equipped and comfortable for our family of 6. Our children enjoyed free run of the large garden and exploring the pond. The pool is large enough for a proper swim. The hosts were very relaxed, welcoming and helpful and recommended local attractions including a lovely secluded river swimming spot.
