Description
The cottage is on the West Coast of Ireland at the end of the Rosmuc peninsula, in the townland of Garrivinnagh. The surrounding area is known as Connemara in County Galway. It is on the Atlantic side of the "Wild Atlantic Way", the 1,600 mile route that runs down the entire West Coast of Ireland.The Rosmuc peninsula is one part of Ireland where commercialism hasn't arrived; in fact the planning rules mean that it should stay that way. It is located in the "Gaeltacht", an area where Irish remains the first language.
The cottage is surrounded by Kilkieran Bay and, as it is in an elevated position, there are breath-taking views of the sea, islands and mountains out of every window. If you are looking for somewhere to relax, wind down and watch ever-changing skies and beautiful sunsets, this is the place for you.

Connemara is an area of great natural beauty. There is not only the wild Atlantic coastline, but literally hundreds of loughs interconnected by rivers and streams, all against the backdrop of the Twelve Bens and Maam Turk mountain ranges. It is an excellent area for walking or, if you are less energetic, for going for drives through the valleys that separate the Bens and the Turks. Or just off the coast there are the Aran Isles with their unusual rocky landscape and ancient ring forts.
If, however, you are looking for a little more civilisation, the City of Galway is only about an hour's drive away. Galway is a bustling place with a very Irish atmosphere about it. There are street performers to entertain you, pavement restaurants at which to eat and interesting pubs where you can relax and enjoy a pint of Guinness. Galway is always worth a visit, even if it is just for the "Craic" - that's Irish for having a great time!

Lovely and spacious home

It had every comfort and convenience one could ask for without lapsing into excess, and was impeccable clean and well ordered. The poetry-inspiring blend of the sea and distant hills visible through almost every window made this one of the most memorable holiday destinations ever. Perhaps this is distilled best in my daughter's comment that--after visiting Inishmore, the Cliffs of Moher, the heart of the Maumturk Mountains, a cruise on stunning Lough Corrib and other spectacular places--she saw no place that she would have preferred as a base to the wonderful Rosmuc house. Mike was a kind and responsive host, and I would be most pleased to rent the house again.
A wonderful stay in Connemara

The landscape is amazing, location is very quiet, perfect if you like nature. Mike was very helpful to help us prepare for the trip and gave us advice on things to visit in the area. Very remote but easy access to all the key sites.
