Overview
Description
Villa I Gelsomini is a spacious seven-bedroom villa set among mature olive trees on the edge of the tiny hamlet of Fiore, just 5 miles (8 km) from the beautiful medieval hilltop town of Todi. With a private swimming pool, generous living areas and flexible accommodation over two floors, it is an excellent choice for large families, multi-generational holidays and groups of friends looking to enjoy the Umbrian countryside. For the 2027 season, the villa is being renovated to a high standard, with improved interiors, new furniture throughout and a brand-new swimming pool with newly improved pool surrounds. The renovation will give this traditional Umbrian country home a fresh, more luxurious feel while retaining its character and peaceful rural setting.
Rome Airport is a little over an hour's drive away, depending on traffic, and the villa is ideally placed for exploring Umbria's historic towns, vineyards, restaurants and beautiful countryside.
A traditional Umbrian villa with a fresh new look
Dating back more than 100 years, Villa I Gelsomini combines the character of a traditional Italian country home with newly renovated interiors and contemporary furnishings.
Set within a garden of mature olive trees, the property enjoys a peaceful location with far-reaching countryside views. The new swimming pool and improved pool surrounds will provide an inviting place to relax and enjoy the Italian sunshine, while the generous indoor spaces make the villa particularly suitable for larger groups.
The accommodation is arranged over two floors, with separate access to the upper floor. This provides useful flexibility for families and groups who want to holiday together while retaining a little independence.
One of the villa's special features is a self-contained suite at one end of the lower floor. By closing a door in the corridor, guests can enjoy their own sitting room, dining area and kitchen, creating a private retreat for relatives or anyone who appreciates some quieter space.
With three kitchens across the property, there is also plenty of flexibility when preparing meals and refreshments for a larger party.
Private swimming pool and outdoor living
The villa's swimming pool is being replaced for the 2027 season, alongside improvements to the surrounding pool area. The existing pool measures approximately 14 x 5 metres, providing generous space for swimming and relaxing.
The garden, mature olive trees and barbecue make the property well suited to relaxed summer days, whether you prefer to spend your time by the pool, enjoy lunch outdoors or gather together after a day exploring Umbria.
Final pool dimensions and depth will be confirmed following the renovation.
Enjoy authentic Umbrian cooking at the villa
One of the highlights of Villa I Gelsomini is the opportunity to arrange for local cooks to prepare traditional Umbrian meals at the property.
Meals are available at very reasonable prices, often costing less than dining at a restaurant. This is particularly appealing for families with children and larger groups who would like to enjoy excellent local food without having to go out every evening.
You can spend the day relaxing by the pool before sitting down to a freshly prepared Italian dinner, or enjoy a leisurely lunch together without leaving the villa. Cookery classes can also be arranged for guests who would like to learn more about local cuisine.
Additional services available on request include:
- Traditional Umbrian meals prepared at the villa
- Cookery classes
- Maid service
- Shopping assistance
- Babysitting
- Personal wine tours
Housekeeping, including a tidy and linen change, is included on Wednesdays for one-week stays and on Saturdays for stays of two weeks or longer.

Lovely villa
By Jeremy on 30-May-2025A lovely villa in an enchanting part of Umbria, with loads of space inside and out. Mila who looks after the villa is a treasure - lovely, helpful, full of good suggestions. We had a wonderful stay
Todi
By Mark on 23-Jun-2025We really loved the villa! We were there with all our family, 14 people, to celebrate our silver wedding. There were 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms over 2 floors, it was very well equipped, great aircon in every room (vital as it was 38 degrees outside). The pool was lovely if in need of updating, but that's a small gripe. The outside dining area was lovely with splendid views of the surrounding hills. All in all a fabulous place for our needs.
Large villa
By Ricky on 04-Jul-2025A beautiful villa with plenty of space. You could happily have three families stay here and be comfortable. Mila, the house manager, is friendly, responsive, and works so hard keeping the place clean and the garden looking beautiful - and her recommendations for places to eat were spot-on. The area is beautiful and quiet, surrounded by rolling countryside and the old town of Todi just up the road. We’d definitely stay again in the future."
Fantastic house for large groups
By Sabrina on 25-Jul-2025We had a fantastic week with three families and a total of eight children. The house and its amenities are fantastic. We could comfortably sit on the terrace with 14 people. The pool was perfect, and the seven bathrooms were a wonderful luxury. The air conditioning ensures a pleasant temperature in the house even on hot days. The communication was also excellent! 100% recommendation!
Beautiful villa in quiet place
By Claudia on 06-Jul-2022Everything went well, the house big and comfortable for large groups and the host was always available. When we arrived check in was easy and we found the house clean, but had some problems with insects, which is quite normal considering we are in the countryside! The only problems we had were with WIFI that did not work, and sometimes the electricity having a low kw we had to go next door to reset...
Pleasant Holiday
By Peter Davies, S.W. London on 26-Aug-2017We had a very pleasant holiday. Nice house, good view, adequate pool, good location. Giselda is a real treasure, charming, helpful and an excellent cook, despite not having a word of English.
