Description

La Casita Rustica

La Casita Rustica is a magical hideaway for couples which can be found nestled in one of the most beautiful squares in Almuñécar Old Town. Amazingly restored with an emphasis on retaining much of the originality of one of the oldest properties in the town. With a luxurious bathroom, quaint bedroom, quirky living room and fully equipped kitchen, large terrace together with super-fast fibre broadband, this is one of the most romantic places to spend a holiday or have remote-working retreat.

The property has a large terrace with stunning mountain views and is fully air conditioned throughout with both heating and cooling. If you are looking for a slice of "real Spain", then La Casita won't disappoint.

The living space is all laid out on one level with entry from the square into the living room. With its bespoke corner sofa and pellet stove for those cooler winter evenings, this is the perfect place to chill and relax whatever the time of the year. There is a 40" smart TV, cleverly concealed behind the feature wood doors, a Roberts Revival Spotify-compatible blue tooth speaker and internet radio and, of course, there is FREE HIGH-SPEED WiFi (300Mb+).
Through the double sliding doors is the bedroom with a king-size bed and views onto the square and this leads to a luxurious bathroom with a giant copper bath, wash basin, toilet and shower.
Also, off the living room is the fully equipped kitchen with everything that you may require for the perfect stay including fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave, oven/hob and coffee makers.
Leading from the kitchen is the original staircase which takes you up onto the terrace which both looks onto the square and stunning views of the mountains. Here you will find two sun loungers and a large bespoke sofa for true relaxation. In addition, there is also a table and chairs, a gas barbeque together with an induction hot plate and sink making it perfect for 'al fresco' dining.

Please note: La Casita Rustica is one of the oldest properties in Almuñécar and retains many of its original features. Care is required particularly on the stairs accessing the terrace.
Other things to note
La Casita Rustica is located in the absolute heart of the Old Town and although parking is limited, there are spaces usually available fairly close by. In July and August, you may need to park a little further away, but always within walking distance. Access will require a walk up hill and stairs. The nearest beach is Puerte del Mar which 300m away and San Christobal Beach which 800m away.

Discover the Heart of Real Spain – Welcome to Almuñécar

If you're searching for a truly authentic Spanish experience, you've just found it. Almuñécar, perched on the sun-drenched Costa Tropical, is where tradition meets adventure, history blends with modern living, and every day feels like a celebration. Blessed with a subtropical climate, Almuñécar enjoys over 320 days of sunshine each year. Winter days hover around a pleasant 20ºC, while summer brings balmy temperatures of up to 30ºC—perfect for beach days, lazy lunches, and sunset strolls. It’s the perfect place to unwind, explore, and be inspired.

Wander through charming tapas bars, savour the flavours of the Mediterranean, and get swept up in the rhythm of life through spectacular fiestas and festivals. From the dramatic Semana Santa Easter processions, the vibrant San Miguel fiesta in September, to the awe-inspiring La Fiesta de la Virgen de la Antigua on August 15th—featuring one of the largest firework displays in Europe—Almuñécar knows how to celebrate. And don’t miss the soulful sounds of the Jazz en la Costa festival each July, when world-class music fills the warm summer air.

The Costa Tropical stretches for 75 km, largely untouched by mass tourism—unlike the neighboring Costa del Sol. Here, you’ll find unspoiled beaches, traditional villages, and breathtaking scenery. Inland, the magical city of Granada awaits, home to the awe-inspiring Alhambra Palace and the majestic Sierra Nevada mountainsWhat makes this region even more special is its incredible variety of experiences. In the winter, you can ski the slopes of Sierra Nevada in the morning and be sunbathing on the beach by afternoon. Spring brings white-water rafting in the Alpujarras, summer is all about scuba diving and beach hopping, and autumn is ideal for slowing down and exploring at your own pace.

But Almuñécar isn’t just about celebration—its roots run deep. The town’s rich history dates back to 800 BC, when the Phoenicians established it as an important port named Sexi, renowned for its fish salting and curing. The Romans followed around 200 BC, leaving behind remarkable aqueducts and expanding the thriving seafood trade—remnants of which you can still explore today.

During the Moorish period, Almuñécar gained its iconic hilltop castle, later transformed under Christian rule into the striking Castillo de San Miguel. Nearby, the beautiful Baroque church, La Iglesia de la Encarnación, built in 1600, offers another glimpse into the town’s ever-evolving story.

Today, Almuñécar is a captivating blend of past and present. Its rich history, fresh local produce, tropical fruit, and seafood-based gastronomy continue to delight, while modern amenities like scuba diving, golf, and remote working facilities make it perfect for both leisure and lifestyle.

Whether you're planning a relaxing getaway or looking for an inspiring place to live and work, Almuñécar and Exclusive-Tropical offer the best of both worlds.

Come for the sun. Stay for the soul. Almuñécar is waiting.

About Us:

We first discovered Almuñécar back in 2009—and it was love at first sight! Nestled on Spain’s stunning Costa Tropical, this hidden gem offers a slice of “real Spain” that’s becoming increasingly rare to find. With a laid-back vibe, vibrant culture, and a truly unique charm, it didn’t take long before we knew this was where we belonged. We’ve fully embraced the rhythm of "Almuñécar Life"—from hopping between tapas bars (yes, you get a free tapa with every drink!) to diving headfirst into the town’s lively fiestas and festivals.

Today, we spend our time finding and renovating properties with soul—places that are full of character and perfect for holidays, remote work, or simply escaping the hustle of everyday life. Each home we share is a little piece of Almuñécar magic, and we can’t wait for you to experience it for yourself.
