Description
El Risco Alto an impressive villa with Moorish architecture in a private location with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms (en suite) perfectly located and nestled high up in the Sierra Cabrera mountain range with amazing views of the mountains and the Mediterranean Sea. Only 55 minutes drive from Almeria airport. With a short walk to the local friendly bar El arco where you can enjoy good food and drinks in the sun also one of the top restaurants in the area "RIAD Fatima's". You can also take a picturesque short 10 minutes drive down the mountain to the local town of Turre for restaurants, bars, supermarkets, chemist etcThe villa has a lower terraced area with 4 hammocks and a large garden to give that peaceful retreat feeling. When you drive through the gated entrance and up the long driveway to the villa entrance you will pass our large well kept garden to the right and at the top you will find ample parking for your car.
There is a carport to keep the hot sun from your car this also leads to garden steps which take you down to the lower terraced area where you will find stunning views and a pathway through our garden. Here you can relax in a very tranquil setting.
As you walk up to the entrance doors and go through the doors you will immediately find the villa and the private pool area. This consists of a large 9x4m swimming pool and a wall fitted water Moroccan fountain, outdoor shower, sun loungers and a large BBQ area with an outdoor dining area with views of the mountains and gardens through the Moorish arches.
As you walk up to the Villas main door through the courtyard with outdoor seating and an awning you turn around and look back at the pool area and see that this entire area is very safe for families to sit and relax in the sun whilst watching your family play in the pool (approximately 3ft deep from the steps and runs down to approximately 5ft depth in the deep end so diving is not advised).
From the courtyard area you can access the villa through 3 doors.
1 to the lounge which is in the middle and which is the main entrance. To the right is the kitchen and to the left is the 3rd bedroom all these can give you access to the entire villa as it is all on one level so no stairs to contend with. If you go through the lounge entrance door you are faced with the amazing views through the arched windows that surround the lounge and fill it will sunlight. You will notice the traditional lounge ceiling with a hanging Moroccan lantern and the sliding doors out to the balcony where you will find incredible vistas of the mountains and the Mediterranean sea with seating and a table and chairs to admire these from. From the lounge turn right to the well appointed kitchen with all you need appliances, Carry on through the kitchen to find a fully equipped utility area to wash and hang your clothes.
If you turn left in the lounge you immediately see double doors these take you through to the family bedroom consisting of a double an single bed, a wardrobe and dressing table and again windows of amazing views.
Walk through the hallway and to your left is the first bathroom this is for the family room and has a shower, toilet and sink.
next to this is the main bedroom with a king size bed with a large on suite consisting of a wet room shower, toilet and sink.
Look right and there is a private balcony with a table and 2 chairs ideal for a morning coffee or tea in the sun. This room has fitted wardrobes with a safe included.
From here it is possible to access the 3rd bedroom through the 3rd bathroom again with a wet room shower, toilet and sink. Walk through here to access the 3rd bedroom to kind a large double bed with fitted wardrobe and a dressing table with access to the courtyard. all rooms have towels, hairdryers and hair straighteners for you convenience.

Leave ReviewA little piece of paradise
By Ruth Hunnybun on 24-Aug-2025Just returned after 8 days at this amazing Villa. Had a wonderful time and the place was perfect. To wake up to such a stunning vista and a swim in the wonderful pool was perfect. It truly is the ideal spot and the photos just can’t do it justice. We loved the space, with its numerous sunbeds and opportunity for sun or shade, we especially enjoyed the early evening cocktails on the hammocks as the sun went down. We also dragged ourselves out and did lots of exploring. The Tabanas desert, derelict goldmine/airfields/villages, we even saw Flamingos! The villa is in the perfect spot for doing this. Turn left out of the property and you have the local bar and restaurant, and the beaches beyond. Turn right and you can explore the mountains with its hair raising but spectacular scenic drives. Inside, the Villa is spotlessly clean, and has all the amenities needed, plus VERY comfy beds. Although with the glorious weather we spent very little time inside, choosing to relax on the numerous seating areas and enjoy the views. Just wish we had had longer to explore such an enchanting part of Spain, perhaps we will have to return. But hey don’t take our word for it, go and see for yourselves. You won’t be disappointed!
Wow…El Risco Alto is an amazing Villa in a stunning location
By Jane & Leigh on 02-Aug-2025We had such a wonderful relaxing holiday, surrounded by breathtaking scenery, in a beautiful villa with ‘Moorish inspired interior’. Booking and communication with the owners and key holder was excellent, even down to having a breakfast hamper prepared for us as we were on a late flight, this is an additional cost, but an excellent idea. The Villa was very clean, with all the amenities you would need on a self catering holiday, with lots of space inside and out, with various areas to relax, either in the sun or in the shade. The Hammocks were great, and we even saw a family of wild Ibex up on the mountain whilst we were lounging by the pool, an added bonus. The area has many places to visit and the owners detail all this in a very informative folder. Thank you for such a memorable holiday, we shall be back for sure…
Lovely house with amazing views
By Rob on 10-Aug-2025Well appointed house with everything you would need. Three large double bedrooms. Lots of different areas to sit in the sun of shade throughout the day, including a great hammock deck. Air conditioning if needed (we were there during a heatwave - it got upto 45C so we did use it at times). Comfortable beds, good quality linen and towels. Amazing pool area with rock backdrop, loungers, BBQ, seating area. the whole place was spotlessly clean and tidy. Roughly 20 mins to the beach which at Mojacar - lots of places to eat and drink and ample parking. Also worth travelling further up and down the cost to more other spots - Agua Amarga / Playa del Sombrerico (head for Manaca Chiringuito) / Villaricos - all roughly 45mins drive but well worth it. The local Bar El Arco offers simple reasonable quality food and drinks, run by a friendly couple. Its an easy stroll down, we went a few times. There is a tennis court to hire nearby and rackets / balls in the house - we had a game - you need to wear tennis shoes, running shoes not allowed to protect the surface. All in all a lovely spot, host was helpful as was the owner. Would definitely recommend.
