Description

This is a beautiful villa, tastefully decorated, in a very peaceful location on the south coast of Menorca. As this is the owner's dream home, it has a lovely homely feel to it. Perfect for a relaxing holiday!

The private, 9 metre long pool, lovely garden and terrace with barbecue receive sunlight practically all day. The ample roof terrace enjoys extensive sea views and is ideal for admiring the sunsets.

It is in walking distance of the fantastic beach, shops, restaurants, bars and the extraordinary Xoroi caves.

There are four air-conditioning units, a comfortable lounge with large TV, a classy dining room with french windows giving onto the pool and garden with sea views, a very large kitchen with all you need, a back terrace with swing sofa, dining table and barbecue. The garden is surrounded by high walls for intimacy. It has two double bedrooms and two rooms with bunk beds.

Cala en Porter is a popular, yet tranquil resort based by a beautiful beach at the bottom of a cliff-lined cove. It is ideal for families and for couples and many holiday makers return year after year.

The beach is very safe for children. There are sun loungers , sun umbrellas and pedalos available for hire. There are several companies offering kayak tours along the cave packed coast line or direct hire of kayaks. Boat hire is also available. By the side of the beach are a couple of bar-restaurants.

In the centre, ten minutes walk away, there are numerous restaurants and bars, several of them offering a variety of live music entertainment.

The Caves of Xoroi, an extraordinary bar-discoteque in a cave half way down the cliffs above the sea is less than ten minutes walk and yet is completely out of earshot owing to its location.

Within walking distance are Cales Coves, another beautiful cove known for its numerous prehistoric caves.

A 15 minute drive or a 25 minute bus ride away is the capital Mahón, famous for its magnificent port guarded by fortresses and defence towers. You can go on boat trips around the port, there is an open air market two or three times a week and in the summer an evening handicraft market with live music in the streets.

One of the great attractions of Menorca is that it has remained unspoilt. The whole island is a Biosphere Reserve and 68% of the island is protected. It is great for walking in Spring and Autumn.

In 2023 the prehistoric heritage of the island was declared a World Heritage Site for its numerous and unique monuments.

Menorca has also been declared a "Destination Starlight" for its clear skies, great for stargazing.

Probably most holiday makers who come to stay with us don't hire a car. However with a car you can explore this fascinating island. As it is small there is nowhere more than an hour's drive away. However for a small island Menorca has a tremendous diversity. The northern half is completely different to the southern side of the island. The old capital Ciutadella is a very elegant city with an aristocratic and medieval flavour to it, completely different to the present day capital.

By car you can enjoy the panoramic views from Monte Toro, go to the fishing villages of Fornells and Binibequer and visit the prehistoric sites or old fortresses.

There are many unspoilt beaches, including several which have been named amongst the most beautiful beaches in the world. To visit these beaches you will need a car and will often have to walk as well.

10 wonderful days

By Stefan on 24-May-2025

Francis was a fantastic host, always had good tips for excursions, was always eager to take care of us, and always asked if everything was okay, if we needed anything, etc. We couldn't have had a better host for our first Menorca vacation. His wife Maica greeted us upon arrival and showed us everything we needed. She was very warm and friendly from the start. The long journey didn't seem to bother the children at all. The house is beautifully situated. 100% like the pictures and even better. Truly worth the price. I would definitely choose Calan Porter for a trip to Menorca. It's a superb location, and you're really doing everything right with this accommodation. Thank you so much, Francis, for 10 wonderful days in your house

We really enjoyed our stay at Francis's house :) When we arrived, her wife was here to welcome us and show us everything in the house. Francis was always available to give us some advices about interesting visits nearby. The house itself is really pleasant, quiet, and perfect for a family with children (ours enjoyed the swimming pool in the garden!). Walkable distance to the beautiful beach of Cala En Porter, bars, restaurants and supermarket. Highly recommended!

‘Best holiday ever' was a comment from my granddaughter!

By Eileen C. on 23-Aug-2018

10/10 Excellent We were a party of 9 and had a wonderful week staying at this lovely villa with its large pool which drew the children like a magnet. They couldn't wait to get back to the pool when we went out for the day - even when they'd happily spent hours in the sea. Francis was extremely helpful, arranging our transfers both from and back to the airport and giving us lots of tips about the surrounding area. There is a very comprehensive information folder at the villa which is definitely worth reading at the start of the holiday. The gardens are a treat and well maintained and the roof terrace offers wonderful views as well as being the perfect place to dry off all the wet towels! Our favourite meal was at ‘Big Al’s’ but we also enjoyed the food at several other restaurants most of which are situated in the centre – about 10 minutes’ walk from the villa. We enjoyed the evening entertainment tribute acts at the Sa Paissa Hotel and also the trio playing at the Irish Bar. We found Francis and Maica to be the perfect hosts, Francis being readily available at the other end of the pone should we need him. I would certainly recommend this property. Stayed 7 nights in Aug 2018 Response from VrboOwner Thanks for your detailed review. That's great that you and your grandchildren enjoyed so much. It was a joy to have you stay with us
