Casa Las Mariquitas (see photo of Daily Mail article) is the perfect large luxury holiday destination for families and groups offering plenty of space, wonderful fully-equipped accommodation with 6 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, a VERY large heated pool (around 180,000 litres), free fast fibre WiFi and beautiful gardens.
The villa sits in a magical elevated position with stunning scenery provided by the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the Mediterranean. It is a typically tranquil location away from the 'party villas'.
Las Mariquitas is only a 1.6km walk from the white Andalucian village of Frigiliana, regularly voted Spain's prettiest village, and a 5-minute drive from the lively beach town of Nerja. There are many local attractions and amenities to enjoy including an extensive restaurant selection.
We are pleased to connect our guests to a range of wellness solutions (at cost) at or easily accessed from the villa. These include yoga, massage, private tennis sessions/lessons, cycling (road, mountain and electric bikes), hiking (including organised walks), gym and sports. For those guests celebrating special occasions such as birthdays or anniversaries, we will help to organise (again at cost) a private chef at the villa plus live music with a fabulous singer. Previous guests have described these occasions as "magical".
The villa offers a range of guest accommodation, 4 bedrooms in the Main villa, including a studio apartment with separate garden access, and a 2 bedroom apartment located with the pool. Guests have commented that the space at the villa really sets it apart from their previous villa stays.
A special feature of the property is also its pool, possibly the largest private pool in the area, and measuring 17m x 6m. The terrace surrounding the pool benefits from a gentle breeze on hot days and is well-equipped with sun loungers (12), parasols and outdoor shower. The pool house includes a bathroom, washing machine, dishwasher, kitchenette and towel store. This opens to a shaded veranda, adjoining the pool, with 12-seater dining and gas barbeque. Pool heating is FREE for all new bookings and is not typically needed mid-June to mid-September.
The large landscaped garden has a striking variety of foliage including lawns, orchard and feature palms /trees. A gated in-out driveway has space for several cars along with a large portico. The villa, pool, and gardens have a very private nature and are not overlooked by the neighbouring properties.
On entering the property guests are greeted with a beautiful mountain and sea view. The large living room includes comfortable sofas / chez longe and 4K TV with international channels.
The spacious kitchen has a traditional large Spanish oven (electric and gas) with all mod cons provided such as fridge/freezer, drinks fridge, microwave, dishwasher, kettle and Nespresso coffee machines. The dining room features indoor dining for 12 opening to a large shaded terrace and a large outdoor dining table. Close by is a further charcoal BBQ (charcoal not provided) and cooking area.
Upstairs, the master bedroom, with super king sized bed, has a private terrace with incredible views and is served by a bathroom with a large bath and separate shower. Conveniently close to the master bedroom is a further bedroom (double and single bed), perfect for children or adults alike. A double bedroom (kingsize bed) /bathroom suite is located on the ground floor, along with sofa bed, providing level access from the front entrance.
At garden level, there is a well-equipped studio apartment suite with twin beds or super king (according to guest preference) and sofa bed, kitchenette, living area and shower room. An adjacent al fresco dining area is perfect for a garden breakfast.
The two-bedroom pool apartment offers easy pool and garden access and an additional degree of privacy from the main villa. It includes two bedrooms; (1) King- sized bedroom and (2) twin or supering (according to guest preference). There is a lounge / dining area (6 seats), TV with international channels, kitchen, cloak and shower room with its own terrace and fantastic views.
All Las Mariquitas bedrooms are air conditioned (also with heating function).

By Deborah on 27-Sep-2025Well, we have just left this beautiful Villa and can honestly say it's been a wonderful experience. With the separate accommodations within the grounds suited all the family to have their private time, to then come together for a BBQ by the pool or upstairs in the larger house. The owners and Oscar and the staff met us and were very informative and charming, nothing was too much trouble. The views amazing, 10 mins either side to Nerja and Frigliano. The house is well equipped. Fantastic pool. We can honestly say it'd been the best holiday ever, we even hired a private chef fir our family which topped the experience and many memories made. X
The most amazing week
By Steph B on 26-Jul-2025We had the most amazing week. The villa is clean, comfortable and set in a beautiful location with amazing views. It’s an extremely quiet location but is set perfectly for those who wish to explore. Frigiliana is less than 5 minutes by car (there are very reliable taxis and a bus stop just outside the villa too) and Nerja less than 10 minutes. We hired cars, which were useful for the supermarket, but otherwise we made use of the bus and taxis to get around. The villa was so well equipped with everything you need for your stay. The beds and linen were so comfortable. I would give more than 5 stars if I could! The pool was absolutely amazing! We spent every day by the pool, and having the pool house is a god send with toilet facilities and kitchen meaning we didn’t need to keep walking up to the main house. We even swam at night time! The owner, Andrew, was fantastic at communicating prior and post stay, and Oscar was always on hand at the villa if we needed anything. We can’t wait to come back again next year!
A large family holiday

The photos and description on the Vrbo property page show off how fantastic this villa with its secluded location and those brilliant mountain views that make this Villa such an outstanding place to holiday but to be honest no photo can truly capture the splendour of La Mariquitas it has to be seen to fully appreciate what a splendid holiday destination this is. We have stayed in many villas across the whole of Spain but this villa far out passes any of these previous locations by miles. There were 9 adults and one 3 year old in our group and at no time did we feel limited on space. The pool is the largest we have ever had the use of and gated for extra security. The pool is well maintained and warm with plenty of sunbeds with areas of sun and shade. The quality of fixtures and fittings provided that extra level of luxury. The place is very well equipped and we found everything we required. With the town of Frigliana just up the road and Nerja just a short drive away you have all you need on your doorstep but the added bonus you have that quite isolationAndrew our host has been absolutely brilliant answering any question I asked promptly and the pre-joining information he provided answered so many questions before we arrived. He said we would not be disappointed with the Villa and he was so right. Oscar the property manager was there to meet us on a arrival and provided a comprehensive tour of accommodation and facilities
Breathtaking
By Colin M on 31-May-2025The Villa, the scenery, the weather were all absolutely breathtaking. Frigiliana lived up to the hype of being one of the prettiest villages in Spain. A vista from just about any area in the Villa was jaw dropping and the pictures don’t do it justice. From the moment we booked, Andrew was there to help and assist with every aspect of our booking. Extra details, clear instructions and incredibly helpful whenever we needed him. Upon arrival, Oscar was there for everything else. Nothing was too trivial and Oscar made himself available at all times to assist us if we needed taxis’s booking, clarity on local knowledge or local attractions and eateries. The Villa was stunningly laid out, beautifully decorated and the pool area was where we were automatically drawn. Every sleeping area felt as luxurious as each other and maintained the privacy from the others. Nerja Caves is a must! Apparently one of the best caves in Europe and we couldn’t argue against that.Frigiliana is a lovely day of walking, exploring and emmersing ourselves in the local culture. Nerja is great for shopping, dining and a lovely little beach by the shopping central.Prices for eating out were way cheaper than the UK and of awesome quality and quantity. Foot Note: It’s hilly!! The walk up to Frigiliana is enough to get you out of breathe and the heart beating, so less abled visitors took advantage of the local taxi services that were really good and very prompt. If you are thinking about booking, Do It!
Family Vacation
By anni meiner n. on 16-Feb-2025We had a great family week at “La Maraquitas” in February with nice weather.Great house with plenty of space inside and outside. Private places too. The pool was super. The area is Quite. Short distance to beautiful Frigiliana. Can highly recommend.
6 star accommodation !!!
By Sandra on 27-Jul-2024What can I say …. Just Wow!! Stayed with family 11 in total and this Villa was just perfect . Everyone had their own little piece of paradise in this beautiful part of the World there is nothing that we could say negatively other than a quote from my brother “A fountain with an endless supply of white wine would not go wrong lol “!!! The entire experience from Booking and all communication with Andrew was easy swift and concise ! On arrival greeted by charming Oscar who was also a delightful gentleman Don’t really want to promote this Villa just in case we struggle to get booked again 🤩 Simply wonderful !!!! Thank you. Our holiday was idyllic !!
