Overview
Description
This stunning rural cortijo was restored to form a large and comfortable property split across 2 buildings. The rear building has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, the front building has 2 bedrooms, 1 large bathroom and a huge kitchen/living room. Any booking has sole occupancy regardless of numbers. There's wifi, a washing machine, dishwasher and three boilers for hot water. 2 bedrooms have balconies and there's a central courtyard plus terraces around the pool and a table tennis table and bats/balls. Its hillside position affords stunning views of the Subbetica National Park and distant mountains. Set 2 miles from the hamlet of La Celada and 5 miles from the traditional town of Iznajar with its 19km lake, the house is well located for local restaurants and shops. Rute is 10 minutes away and the cultural city of Granada including The Alhambra and the Sierra Nevada are only an hour away. The Roman city of Antequera can be reached within 30 minutes, Cordoba is an hour away and Seville 1 hour 30 minutes. Airports at Malaga and Granada are also only an hour's drive and are linked to many UK airports.16 Reviews
Leave ReviewGreat
By Kevin Flynn on 24-May-2025The house is in an amazing position with extensive views over the surrounding area. If you want peace and quiet, it's a perfect place. The pool is a good size, with steps at one end providing easy access for smaller children. It was unexpectedly hot for May during our stay (35+ degrees, but the house remained reasonably cool even in the rooms without aircon). We had a few hiccups with fuses and some strange smells from the drains, but otherwise everything worked as expected, and Shaun responded quickly and helpfully to requests for help. The closest restaurant was closed during our stay, not sure if that was just temporary or a permanent change, so the closest place was then out of walking distance. The wild flowers in May were lovely. All in all a great place to stay for extended families or other larger groups.
Just perfect
By Ruth and Alison on 27-Aug-2024We stayed for 9 nights, just the 2 of us and so had the 2 bedrooms and bathroom at the front of the house only. But with full use of everything other than the other bedroom's. The Villa is designed for outside living and we spent all our time enjoying the multiple areas for eating, drinking, reading and of course the glorious pool! When we occasionally did go in doors, the kitchen is well kitted out (second fridge much appreciated), the beds are high spec, the air-con is very good (and much needed) and the additional toilet downstairs handy! We loved having breakfast on the bedroom balcony and there is even a bed out there if needed! The place is so quiet and tranquil, and the views are just amazing, with the olive groves and rolling hills. When we did drag ourselves away from paradise we had great fun exploring. Two places we highly recommend are Caminito Del Ray (early booking essential) a spectacular walkways through a gorge with breathtaking views, and also El Torcal de Antequera, a national park with amazing rock formations. The access to the Villa is easy, and close to the major roads, and for groceries the local Mercadona in Rute is large and well stocked. Kieron is easily contactable and gives good directions from the airport. We used Yellow Cars who we highly recommend over the multitude of car hire companies, no deposit and comes with all the insurances! So in a nut shell, we absolutely loved our stay at La Mojeda, and comes highly recommended. But hey, don’t take our word for it…. See for yourselves! We will be back.
Wonderful time in Iznajar

By Sandy on 31-Jul-2023Beautiful house in a beautiful location if you want to visit the north of Andalusia (Granada, Sevilla, Cordoba, Malaga). Access is a little difficult but it''s worth it. Everything was perfect but be careful, air conditioning is only present on 3 out of 6 bedrooms. The rest of the rooms have a fan. The room is spacious so we put the kids with us because it was very hot. Thanks Keiron we will definitely be back.

By Chrstophe on 28-Jul-2022Nice and quiet place in the middle of the olive trees. Our two families with the 4 children had a great stay with the swimming pool, reading corners, siesta corners, terraces and much more that we can only warmly recommend.
