We’ve just returned from a 2 week holiday in this apartment and we have loved every moment of it! The apartment itself is fantastic, very home from home. Everything was clean and we had change of towels & linen after a week. Everything was provided that you needed including beach & pool towels! The kitchen was fully equipped however we tended to eat out most of the time. Beds were so comfortable and had fans to keep cool at night. We loved the balcony and it’s amazing view! Was lovely to sit late at night and just hear the waves! Location is perfect, literally 5 minutes walk into the main part. Lots of restaurants & bars to chose from and lovely walks. You can walk to the local ruins and further along to the hamlet for lunch plus there are plenty of beaches to choose from. It is a long walk but so much to see that we didn’t mind or you can catch the bus/train if walking isn’t for you. There is a rocky beach in front of the apartment or sandy one by the main square, literally 5 mins walk. We loved this beach as popped into the restaurants for lunches & drinks or Spar for beach picnics! Amenities are great. There are lots of shops to buy bakery, fish, cheese or a Spar for everything else you need. There’s also a Mercadona about 15 minutes away on foot but we just used Spar. We took a boat trip to Cadaques which was beautiful, would recommend this (& the ruins!) Support from Michael was fantastic. I asked alot of questions and he promptly responded and only too pleased to help. We used his recommendations on places to visit & eat which made it even more enjoyable, thank you! Overall, a very relaxing and fantastic place. So much so, we’ve rebooked for next year!
Dear Lucy Thank you for taking the time to do such a comprehensive review. It is so flattering I could have written it myself. I often make the mistake of waxing lyrical about the place,to the point I feel I overdo it.The proof is in the pudding however, like yourself , from this year alone, 3 families have re-booked for 2019.There is no other location where you can enjoy peace and quiet, yet within minutes be shopping, eating out, swimming, visiting the markets or simply sunbathing in your own favourite spot.My favourite spot is the balcony with a book and a G and T and the view. Thank you again, we look forward to welcoming you again next year. Michael Rollings
Excellent apartment with everything you need. Perfect location and owners very friendly and helpful. Provided everything you think you could possibly need
Thank you for your kind review. I know you are experienced travellers so it is particularly rewarding to have such positive comments. We hope we can welcome you both back in the future. Kindest regards Michael and Edward

Apartment looks out over the sea and bay from the patio. Nothing obstructs the view, and a short walk along the shore path takes you into the village with bars and restaurants by a beach. The other direction a short walk takes you a park/beach. Also, walking distance are two large super-markets. The apartment is very well organized and comfortable with parking underground. A very easy place to enjoy yourself.

Dear Patrick and Marianne
Thank you for taking the time to review the Apartment and its location. It is the latter which we think makes it unique, the view across the sea bay to the Pyrenees in the distance is something we never tire of.
We endeavour to make the Apartment as comfortable, fresh and clean as possible, thank you for your appreciation.
You are always welcome.
Michael and Edward
We really enjoyed our stay. The apartment was very well equipped with all you need (including water sports equipment) and was very well located - close to great walks and the town centre but far enough way for privacy. Very pleasant walk to the beaches. Swimming pool looked good but we did not use it as too many people. Fantastic views of the bay being on the top floor. Great for sun-downers. No complaints at all about the apartment and thoroughly recommend it. Care needs to be taken with the underground parking as it is very small (we scratched our car !). Not recommended for large cars.
Thank you for your review. We travelled through France and Spain and found, in our larger car, public parking tight, I scratched my car.We do advise that if you rent a car then Golf size is ideal, otherwise it is advisable to have a second person guiding initially.Still preferable to street parking ,I hope you agree. As with everything the more you use it the more confident you get. I had a 5 metre long estate car and managed o.k.( with practice). On a more positive note ,so pleased you liked the Apartment and view.We have just left ourselves and always find it hard to leave.Hope you will be back, enquiries and bookings started already for next year. Thank you.
A very well maintained Apartment with uninterrupted and spectacular views over the Bay of Rosas and the Roman ruins. A car is not required, although their is a garage available
as all the bars, restaurants and town centre are within easy walking distance. We have had a most enjoyable few dasy and look forward to returning.Thank you.
How wonderful to be able to return to this lovely apartment so close to the waters edge. Its great to watch the changing scene-sometimes misty with just faint outlines of the hills across the bay, while in bright sunshine the deep blues of the sea are fab.A perfect place to come and be!
We really enjoyed all the the fun, music and colour of the carnival and walks past the sand dunes.
Thank you ! We hope to come again one day.
We have been coming to L'Escala for almost 20 years and we can honestly say this is the best apartment we have stayed in.It's a "true home from home" with everything you may need.Very conveniently located for the old Town, shops ,restaurants and bars plus the lovely walk to San Marti. The wi-fi is a bonus, one small criticism we struggled with the T.V. despite very thorough instructions we couldn't get it to work?We gave up in the end, it didn't matter just we wanted to catch up with the news & used i-pad instead. Many thanks for letting us stay, we would love to come back.
Returning the keys- reluctantly! What a wonderful place. We're really Francophiles but have started exploring a little further south,.love the Apartment and L'Escala. The people were very friendly, and the views are stunning, we really hope to return and explore more.We tended to sit on the balcony and gaze at the sea and the snow clad Pyrenees. Thanks again.
We had a great time in L'Escala. The apartment is well designed, has wonderful views and is very comfortable; the owners were fab. Everything we could possibly want was provided. We would definitely go back to stay in this apartment in the future. Thanks for allowing us to stay, and being so welcoming.
Thank you for your kind review (and letter). Edward and I are so pleased you and the two boys enjoyed your stay and the amenities ...my wife and I always found the ability to watch the children playing in the pool from the Apartment balcony a great facility, particularly when needing to call them up at meal times.
We look forward to welcoming you back.
This apartment was ideal for us. It is superbly located with stunning view - we ate every meal on the balcony! It is well-equipped, comfortable and has the added bonus of car-parking. The owners were very helpful at all stages of the booking and the apartment offered excellent value for money. L'Escala is an attractive and friendly town and we enjoyed shopping for food in the local stores. We spent hours at Empuries - a stunning site. We would recommend the apartment very highly.
Dear Mr and Mrs Jackson, thank you for taking the time to do a review. In a competitive world we try to offer the highest standards at a competitive price.Since your visit we have added an electric awning to defend against really hot sun ,it will make it more comfortable when dining on the balcony. We hope we can welcome you back in the future.Have you thought of a few days getaway in the off peak months, when a stay in Punta Romana is very good value.Thank you again.
We were delighted both with the apartment and L'Escala for our holiday. Beautiful views, good weather and the ambience of L'Escala excellent - not too touristy. The apartment had everything you would need and was nice and clean and comfortable (including english tv and wifi if required). Facilities for cooking and a lovely balcony to sit on if you didn't want to go to the many cafes and restaurants every night - we did half and half. Swimming pool kept so clean and hardly used except by me when we visited in June. Lovely walks without having to use the car in either direction from the apartment. All in all a most relaxing holiday and I am sure we will book another year.
Thank you for your kind review. We met through business when I told you of L'Escala. I am prone to wax lyrical about the place, but I do think it is quite unique.I am so pleased you liked it.You seemed to stay local this time, but should you return their is a wealth of places to visit . Barcelona (Gaudi architecture), Girona (home of World's Best Restaurant ,Can Celler de Roca),Figueras (remarkable Dali Museum) and then there are the mountains.Whoa, there I go again....or you can just relax with everything to hand.We hope you will come back, always most welcome.Michael and Edward.
We hadn't been to Spain for over 40 years as usually holiday in France,Germany,Austria.Had a most relaxing time.-the apartment , stunning views, ambiance of L'Escala and San Marti, fruit and veg-restaurants all wonderful.
There is everything to hand in the apartment and after we had parked the car (we drove there) we didn't take it our again. So many places to walk to including Empuries- fascinating morning.Restaurants we loved were La Gruta,in L'Escala and tapas at La Riba and any in San Marti - a lovely walk from L'Escala. Pool superb,I am sure we will come back again.
Joy and David-Northumberland
To echo previous comments this is a well appointed apartment with stunning views across the bay.Meals on the balcony have been a delight. The location gave easy access to a variety of great trips and activities-the Ruins at Empuries, the National Park (especially in the morning bird song remarkable), the coves and coast line near Begur. If visiting Cadaques take care to turn left at the roundabout to go to the free car park between Cadaques and Port Lligat-not the rip off in Cadaques itself! The walk to Cap de Creus is impressive- but remember you'll have to return the same way! Good variety of small local shops for meat, fish etc.-L'Escala is a good base from which to explore the area.
David and Julia
What a fantastic property this is. It looks good in the advert but it surpasses this in buckets. The owners think like people who go on holiday and cater for all needs. The apartment is great and has so many lovely personal touches. The town of L'Escala has a lot of character and the locals are very friendly. Wonderful views from the balcony - quite stunning. We've hundreds of photos of the azure sea with the snow- capped Pyrenees in the distance. We loved living there. There is so much to do nearby and a week is no way long enough. We will return!
Thank you for your review. Over the years we have made constant improvements to the apartment, as we believe with its unique location and stunning views, there are not many places like it and therefore we want to attract people back to stay each year. One gets to enjoy the quiet ambience of a seafront property whilst only being a 5 minute walk away from the lively and picturesque town. We look forward to welcoming you back again in the near future. Thank you, Michael and Edward.
Dear Michael and Edward
We have enjoyed a lovely week here.Thank you for your extra touches that made your apartment feel so homely and luxurious. The view is truly amazing-it lived up to and surpassed the photos on the web site.Watching the changing light, movement of the sea and sunsets was a real joy.We have been very fortunate to have a few delicious meals out on the balcony.
Hope we get the chance to return .
If you enjoy a sunny beach holiday in a beautiful and tranquil setting with lots of interesting places to visit then this is a great place to stay. Michael and Edward’s 4th floor apartment has fabulous sea views and is conveniently located near the village center – perfect for picking up freshly baked croissants and bread for breakfast from the local bakery at the end of the road. The apartment worked really well for us; a family of four with two teenagers. The twin bedrooms were lovely and spacious and although we would have preferred a double bed the overall package was excellent – modern and clean with home comforts like a welcome bottle wine, wi-fi, towels, a variety of books, dvd’s and lots of info regarding things to do. Although it was very hot when we visited we left the front patio area open which helped to keep the apartment cool. The selection local beaches were fabulous, each with their own personality. Our favourite was the bay next to the Medieval town San Marti accessed by a beautifully landscaped pedestrian path way. We are familiar with the Languedoc region just over the French border, but this area is much more attractive overall. Additionally Micheal and Edward are very personable in their approach and couldn’t have been more helpful to ensure that we were fully prepared and informed before hand. We can whole heartedly recommend this holiday apartment and we look forward to visiting again. Brigitte Halliday 1st September 2015
Dear Brigitte. Thank you for your positive review and in particular how to keep the Apartment cool. When we bought the Apartment the agent pointed out that in Spain the problem is getting out of the sun.The balcony faces North, this means that it is possible ( for most of the year) to be in the sun or shade, as you choose. It is also an advantage to have concertina doors to the balcony/patio to enable a through draft to the south facing rear of the Apartment.
We look forward to welcoming you again and so pleased you liked the area. Incidentally we nearly bought in the Languedoc/Rousillon region, but at the time an article in the Times, "Costa Brava costa less" caught my eye.No regrets.
This is the second time we have stayed in this apartment. It is located close to the old town with the most amazing views. The apartment has all mod cons including wifi which makes the stay all the more comfortable. It is spacious, well enough for 2 adults and 2 children. The underground parking means you can park your car and forget about driving for the rest of the holiday as you can walk to the beach, town and supermarkets. You also have the communal pool so lots of swimming time as well. The views from the apartment are truly amazing throughout the day and the flat is in a quiet setting so lots of peace and quiet looking out over the Bay of Roses. Lots of bars and eateries nearby like Els Barrils, Hotel Bonaire, Icaria, you are spoilt for choice. Definitely one of the best places to stay in L'Escala.
Thank you a)for returning to Punta Romana, L' Escala again this year and b) for such a positive review. You have underlined the proximity to all you need on a family holiday but also the peace and tranquillity once in the Apartment. San Marti is also a great place for family eating in the square in front of the Church.Leaving the car in the garage when there is a real treat for us, as we drive from the north of the U.K.We are setting off next week for a holiday and check everything o.k. for next year.Thank you again.
This is a lovely apartment and we had a great week in L'Escala. The view from the balcony is stunning. The apartment has everything that you could need. We didn't realise that there is no oven, which is something that you might want to bear in mind if you are planning a great deal of cooking. The apartment is really well located, close to the main town and within walking distance of a few lovely beaches. Parking in the car park under the apartment block, while convenient is quite tight. We would definitely recommend this place and are already planning to return next year.
Thank you for your kind comments and so pleased you enjoyed L'Escala. With regard to the "oven", there is in fact a Remoska Oven (supplied by Lakeland). Any future visitors may like to Google "Remoska" to view its capabilities. There is a recipe book supplied also. In the evenings we often prepare meal ,place in Remoska, go for a drink in village and return to a hot dinner.
We are so pleased you are planning a return. The Remoska is kept in the bottom pan drawer as a rule and we trust you will have the opportunity to use it next time.
We had two great weeks and are looking forward to book the Apartment for three weeks next year.It is such a great location, given that we have two young children, a short walk into the old town was ideal. Thank you again for use of your Apartment and we hope to be able to use it again in the future.
The first thing we were thrilled about as we approached the property was how close it was to the water and when we walked in the front door and saw the balcony and the view of the sea, it was even more perfect. Our girls ran straight out to the balcony and were so excited to see the pool down below - that's where we spent most of our time. It was fabulous to be able to use the pool until late at night and even though there were times when the grass area and pool were quite crowded, it was still a really wonderful place to relax and cool off. We ate tapas banquets on the balcony each night and also had a couple of small meals in the town. The sunsets and sunrises were glorious - such a breathtaking view to watch the colours changing on the sea and sky. We walked to the beach around to the far side of the bay one day and also caught the little tourist train to Sant Marti to swim and look at the small town. In the town of L'Escala there is a small Spar supermarket with everything you need for a cheap tapas meal or breakfast supplies - out the other side of town but a longer walk are the larger supermarkets. The town itself is very small but had some gorgeous little bars and cafes and the tourists were mostly Catalan and Spanish, and we heard a few French and English families at the apartment. It was nice to not be in a really big built-up tourist area. The apartment had everything we needed, the only thing that we were lacking was airconditioning but the fans helped a bit to keep us a cool in the evenings. (it was REALLY hot when we visited). Michael and Edward were super helpful in the lead up to our stay, responding to emails quickly and providing lots of details and advice about the property and L'Escala. Thanks again for making this a memorable stay - we will definitely return to L'Escala one day.
Genevieve, thank you for taking the time to review our property and location. We think it is special with sea and pool, beach and the fishing village all within a stones throw.Temperatures were at unprecedented levels (I was told 47 degrees at one point). This is highly unusual . Edward had been a couple of weeks before and cooled the apartment by creating a through-draught. However there is no easy answer to the temperatures you experienced, although we did offer air conditioning in the form of a portable unit for hire to supplement the fans. We are considering installing a.c. in the bedrooms for next year.
I know your visit was short as you were travelling through, hopefully you will stay with us again when you return to L'Escala, but this time for longer, to appreciate all it has to offer....and hopefully cooler.
Michael & Edward
L'Escala and this apartment are wonderful. The view is amazing- many a happy hour spent looking out.We swam around the rock from town beach a few times and the sea was cool and clear and perfect.Sadly we seem to have brought the Welsh wind and grey skies and occasional rain storm, but it didn't stop us from having a fantastic time-we wouldn't have managed well in the 40* heat anyway! Off to Barcelona today and guess what ? Blue skies. Would love to come again.

My partner and I spent a week at the apartment and we had a wonderful time! The apartment was very clean and comfortable, and the views from the balcony really are breathtaking. We spent some lovely evenings sitting out on the balcony watching the sun go down. The location is fantastic – 5 minutes walking to the cafes and restaurants of the village, and 5 minutes in the other direction to some lovely beaches. When we arrived at the apartment we found an information pack full of suggestions of local restaurants and places to visit (Girona and Figueras being particular highlights for us) – we found the pack really useful and it was a nice touch. We would strongly recommend taking a stroll along to San Marti one evening and having dinner there – it’s a beautiful setting with really good food – and a really nice walk along too. All in all we absolutely loved our stay both for the apartment and the surrounding area. We would really highly recommend it and will definitely book to return again.
Thank you for posting a review. We chose the apartment for its location in L'Escala, we were also blown away by the views from the balcony and its position which is ideal for town and the beaches. So to hear that kind of feedback is most welcome. The village of Sant Marti is one of my personal favorites also. We look forward to welcoming you back to the apartment in the not too distant future. Kind regards Michael & Edward
We're an Australian family that have been living in Denmark since January. We've been travelling through Europe since early July and have been slowly defrosting from the eternal Danish winter. L'Escala was perfect place to unwind and soak up the sun.
The apartment is fabulous and has everything we needed. The girls (aged 6 and 8) LOVED the pool-they spent hours there each day.We also had lots of lovely tapas feasts on the balcony, captivated by the view.Sunset and sunrise were particularly spectacular.
We took the ride on the tourist train to San Marti and also visited the beach a couple of times.
The lovely town was so nice to wander through and really shone at night time when everyone was out enjoying meals and a walk along the waters edge. Thanks for creating such a great retreat for visitors to this beautiful part of the world
We had a wonderful time. The flat was great (very clean, fantastic views and well located). There are lots of nice restaurants around and great beaches. Siitng on the terrace, enjoying wonderful views in the evenings has been a real highlight.
Looking forward to coming back again very soon.
Marta (Spain), Paul and Matt
Another fantastic week in L'Escala the apartment is beautiful with an amazing view. So pleased we returned to Punta Romana after 15 years.
Robin,Laura and Jack
Clean, comfortable, well equipped apartment with a private balcony and beautiful views over the Bay of Roses and Pyrenees. Comfortable bed and great walk-in shower. Short walk to shops, cafes and good restaurants and lovely coastal walks in both directions. The Roman site of Empuries is just up the road. There was a handy Spar shop in the town for essentials and larger supermarkets nearby. Excellent secure parking. Michael and Edward were easy to deal with and patient with all our requested changes (three month itinerary through Spain!). We were sent excellent instructions for finding the apartment and there was plenty of information on the area. We loved L'Escala and enjoyed our stay in this lovely apartment. We hope to return sometime in the future.
We have had three months travelling round Spain and called in to L'Escala on our way back. So glasd we did -lovely apartment and beautiful area.We have enjoyed several bracing (well it is January) walks in both directions and had an intersting visit to Empuries. We would love to return sometime, especially when the sun is shining over this beautiful bay.
If you like cakes we can recommend Patisseria Empori, Moranges 14--very sweet lady serving and brilliant cakes especially those with Catalan creme.
Pauline and Tony
An excellent short break despite the winter storms!Lovely apartment with everyting you needed (except couldn't find tea-pot!!) This is a great part of Spain with good walks, shops and restaurants. El Roser 2 is first class.
We stayed in the apartment for 2 weeks in August 2014. On arrival we were impressed that the apartment was beautifully decorated with a lot of creature comforts (Wi-Fi, hob, washing machine and great showers). The views over the bay are amazing, sitting on the balcony either day or night is a truly relaxing experience and provides picture perfect views. Communal pool is of a good size and of timed right you get it to yourself or at the most a few other guests. The apartment has great secure parking and is only 5 minutes walk into the old town. It is so convenient even with two very small children to get into town with a lovely view of the sea. Restaurants are aplenty and the majority provide high quality food at reasonable prices. Loved our stay so much so that we are looking to go back next year!Recommended for: Families with Young Children, Sightseeing, Tourists without a Car, Age 55+, Romantic Getaway.
We are so pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay in the apartment. We have done our best to make the apartment as comfortable and as welcoming as possible, so your comments are much appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to write a review.
We have had a fantastic week in L'Escala- abeautiful place and so much to see and do.Would highly recommend Mas Guso, a bodega /fruit/restaurant/shops..go towards San Marti and keep going past Las Dunas camping sites. You can buy your plastic wine bottles and fill up with wine of your choice! The beach at the same turning is long and sandy-just beautiful.
Thank you for a well needed and beautiful place to rest.
Simone,Chris,Luke and Lauren
A really great Apartment which is so conveniently located for short stroll into town.We only used the car twice in a fortnight! Really relaxing and such great views.
Local places to eat in are great especially Cafe de la Riba, Icaria (on the hill),the cafe bar near the Church,Hotel Bonaire-really everywhere we went was good.
The walk to San Marti D'Empuries is beautiful
We will be back next year.
A very relaxing week! The view, the ocean smell, the atmosphere- a good spot to decouple from a busy life.
And for the culturally interested-Cadaques (Salvador Dali) and Collioure ( Henri Matisse), "gracias" and "merci beaucoup"-but do get there early, or spend the day in endless queues for a parking spot- good thing we are early birds.
Fantastic week in the Apartment.View is amazing as is the setting.Enjoyed swims to seagull island and eating on the balcony. Everything you need is here .Wi-Fi and Smart T.V. an added bonus.
