THINGS TO DO
Local Beaches
The Costa Brava, or ‘Wild Coast’, is famous for its stunning coastline. Wide sandy beaches are punctuated by rocky outcrops and rugged coves, which nestle between dramatic pine tree covered cliffs. Few places compete with this idyllic region in terms of bathing spots to suit all tastes; you could probably visit a different beach or cove everyday of your holiday! Pals beach is an easy five minutes drive away from the house by car.
Local Culture & Leisure
Perhaps less well known, but equally enticing, the interior boasts medieval villages dotted throughout the rich Mediterranean countryside. Closer to home, the nearby medieval village of Pals is within walking distance of the house. There are a number music events throughout the summer such as the Cap Roig and White Summer festivals. This stunning region is host to a number of top golf courses that benefit from the natural beauty of the area.
Eating & Drinking
The area is renowned for its cuisine with wonderful food to be found at every level, from top rated Michelin restaurants to pop-up beach cafes and tapas bars. There are numerous restaurants within easy reach of the house, with specialities like grilled, locally caught monkfish and the hearty Catalan rice dish equivalent to paella, and plenty of options for the kids too! Furthermore the food and wine in this region is generally still excellent value.

The nearby city of Girona was recently voted as the best place to live in Spain. It is much quieter and less touristy than neighbouring Barcelona and makes a wonderful day trip from the house. Leave ReviewSimply magnificent!
By Sue Styles on 14-May-2023Can Xarina is a beautifully restored traditional country house in a fabulous setting, with all the features you would hope to find - terracotta floors, lofty ceilings with beams and two intriguing, barrel-vaulted rooms with bare stone walls giving a rustic feel. The kitchen had everything we needed and we ate in several times during our 2-week stay. There was ample room for our family of 6 adults. The garden wraps around the house with many shady spots under the olive, lemon and orange trees, and the ‘casita’ was the perfect place for barbecues and outdoor dining. The pool is lovely, although unheated, so in May it was challenging but fun. We loved exploring the stunning medieval villages of the Emporda and the beautiful coastline, and with Can Xarina as our ‘home’ it was an idyllic family holiday.
Another wonderful holiday!
By Niklass Ericsson on 29-Jun-2017We had a wonderful week together with our friends and their family at Can Xarina in June. The villa is ideal for families as the house fits two familes + kids perfectly. The yard is big enough fot kids to play and parents to relax. The pool is big and suits well for pool activities and a nice quiet morning swim. The location is ideal and you can easily access some of the finest Costa Brava beaches in just minutes. For those who like bicycle rides there are good routes off road and road trips. A perfect place for a holiday!" Family with young children who returned for four years between 2015 & 2018.
A fantastic, quiet & relaxing family holiday
By Dominique on 14-Jul-2018"A beautiful house with a lovely pool in the quiet Catalan countryside, within easy reach of the local shops and beach, and nothing to disturb our tranquil haven. The owner of the property was incredibly kind and helpful - simply wondeful! " A multi-generational family group who visited three times in July 2016, '17 & '18
Beautifully renovated property with stunning views
By Catherine G on 05-Aug-2018"Can Xarina is the most beautiful, sympathetically restored property near Pals. When we arrived we were delighted to see the spacious accommodation and pool area and garden. For us it ticked all the boxes and was exactly what we had hoped for in a family holiday property. The personal touches, sumptuous furnishings and well equipped kitchen made our stay very enjoyable. We will definitely be returning again in the future, maybe with friends next time. Wonderful place!" Family with teenage children visited in summer of 2016 & 218.
Relaxing family holiday in luxurious surroundngs
By Victoria S on 20-Jul-2013"We stayed here with another family in July 2013. The villas is beautiful and stylish with lots of space for our 4 adults and 4 young children. We spent most of our time in the nearby pool and at the nearby beach. It is only a short walk to the hilltop town of Pals, with its restaurants, bars and stunning views. We are booked to return next year and can't wait!"
