The farmhouse is built in the traditional (sugar cube style) thick stone method. Most of the ceilings are about 20 foot high so air conditioning is not necessary. In addition all outside windows have inward openings with Louvre shutters to allow free airflow. The interior layout and design is in keeping with the character of this old property, yet fully suited to a party of eight or just a couple staying (like ourselves). The property is secluded but not isolated, and our nextdoor neighbours look after the well being and maintenance of No4! Outside: The farmhouse overlooks the village of Tao from the west (front) terrace of the farmhouse. Relax having a sun downer or two overlooking the garden and deciding where the sun is going to disappear in the evenings.
The driveway is good for 4/5 cars, and the track has one vehicle an hour coming past. Although at about 1.00pm a goat herd strolls past about 300 metres away.
The south terrace (the pool), is fully private with two eating areas, one covered for midday sun and the other for sun worshipers. The pool is oval shaped and 7 mtrs by 4 mtrs. It is 1 mtr deep at the shallow end and slopes to 2 mtrs at the deep end. Solar heating is more than sufficient in the warmer season and for the winter months the electric heating adds that extra backup, (no extra charge).
The BBQ (not gas) is easy to light so long as you make sure you have the charcoal before you start!! Utility Room: Sink unit. Ironing board and Iron. Laundry basket and pegs. Washing machine. There are various pool toys for children.
Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen bathroom and beach towels are included and are changed weekly. Cleaning is carried out weekly. Other: Inner hallway (next to the pool terrace). Storage cupboards for sun bed cushions/umbrellas. Storage cupboard for CDs DVDs games books CD docking station. Snooker room with bar, fridge, 1/4 sized pool/snooker table. Docking station for iPod. TV screen.

Coast/Beach:

about 10 minutes drive to Famara beach, The view in the background is famous for surfing and hand gliding, or to Teguise Sunday market and restaurants.

Drive north, the same drive time to La Santa village with international sports complex, and a number of restaurants.

Drive south same drive time to Playa Honda, - hyper markets /shopping centre

restaurants.

The capital Arrecife is less than 15 minutes drive, with a beautiful harbour.

Puerto Del Carmen (biggest tourist resort) is also less than 15 minutes drive.

German Wonderful holiday home
We felt very comfortable. Great is the view-protected terrace with the pool. The location of the house is ideal, with the car you can reach every point of the island within half an hour. Very good was the communication with the landlord and the nice unobtrusive on-site care by the German neighbors.

A taste of paradise!

By Tom Birch on 31-Jul-2019

This villa is quite simply fabulous. We have just returned from a wonderful, stress free week. We either spent time mooching around the Island or lunching on the terrace. A lot of thought has gone into guest's comfort and ease and when we arrived I was blown away by the interior - still trying to source the fabulous cockatoo picture! We were lucky enough to have the bedroom on first floor, so could enjoy fabulous views across Lanzarote & the volcanic landscape. We hired a car which meant we could enjoy all of the Island, packed with palm-filled towns, wonderful beaches and fresh fish. The owner has been fantastic and helpful throughout, via email and his local recommendations and directions were superb!!

Simply the best

By Wendy on 01-Mar-2019

I love this villa (which is best shown by the fact I’ve stayed here at least 10 times)! It is really well laid out with lots of space for family to get on and do their own things. It has a really homely feel and is beautifully decorated and furnished. The pool area and front veranda are both great places to relax and on top of all that you can improve your pool game should you wish! What more could you ask for?! I would really recommend this villa to anyone.

Sun, Sea and Villa

By Miah Sturdivant on 27-Sep-2018

My husband and I along with some great friends stayed at this beautiful villa between 28th Sept - 5th 0ct 18.

The villa itself is spacious and clean, the owners really do take care of their property, nothing was out of place and everything you needed was there! The swimming pool was clear and the temperature was perfect averaging between 27-30 degrees during our stay, we also had BBQs and games night which is all available in house, WIFI is really good and never dropped out! If you like peace and quite with amazing views, this is the place to be!

During our time in Lanzarote we did something everyday, to get around the island is extremely easy and I would highly recommend hiring a vehicle when staying here, the villa is 10-15 mins tops from the airport and seems to be in the middle of everything which made it easier for us and we got to some really amazing scenery!

In summary, I would recommend this villa (singles, couples, family's with children). I enjoyed my stay and will be coming back very soon. Thank you for having us.

The Farmhouse, Lanzarote

By Margaret Marciniak on 20-Sep-2018

We had a fabulous stay at the Farmhouse.
The villa is lovely and spacious. All mod cons here. We wanted for nothing. We loved the bar and games room and made good use of it!
So many areas to enjoy barbecued meals; we used them all.
It is in a great location, away from the 'madding crowd' but with easy access to everything the Island has to offer.
Highly recommended.

Wonderfully comfortable, spacious and stylish villa

By Esam Ghareeb on 20-Jun-2018

I would thoroughly recommend a stay in this villa when you visit Lanzarote. It is centrally place for days out & well appointed and stylish if you decide to relax there. It is tranquil and you can enjoy the great facilities provided by the owner, including a sparkling swimming pool.
Car hire is a must . Timanfaya National Park is 10 minutes drive away and I recommend a visit to Jameos del Agua on the other side of the island. .

From the first to the last contact, everything just perfect. Great house in a great spot; Wonderful view and perfectly located to explore the whole island by car. Since it was rather cold, we were happy about the heated pool and the cosy fireplace in the livingroom. We didn't cook very often but rather tried out several restaurants suggested by Tim and Diane. However, if you like cooking, the kitchen is very well equipped. More over, the carefully selected furniture and many little details give the house a very friendly atmosphere.

Amazing week for our honeymoon!

By Emma Mayo on 26-May-2018

We spent a week at the farmhouse as part of our honeymoon and couldn’t have wished for a better time!

The farmhouse is beautifully kept, stylishly furnished and immaculately clean. It is so well equipped and everything we needed was catered for. The pool area is glorious and we made full use of the barbeque!!

Conveniently located from the airport it’s also in a great location to explore.

We enjoyed a totally relaxed and romantic week together and look forward to returning again!

I’d highly recommend the farmhouse to couples, families and friends!

We felt at home

By Frank Leder And Sylvia Von Kalckreuth on 12-May-2018

Im May 2018 we had the good fortune to spend family holidays in Lanzarote. Following a recommendation (thanks Carmen and Nartak!) we chose this beautiful Villa for our stay. We were 4 adults plus the 6 month old Ela. We enjoyed the well equipped house, secluded outdoor pool, great kitchen (utensils) and internet access/TV flat screen. A big plus for us: Friendly neighbours helped us to make ourselves comfortable on arrival and whatever we needed could be organzied with their help.

We would come again, for sure! A big "thank you" to the generous owners who are willing to let other people stay in their artistic holiday home.

6 good friends enjoy a week in September in Lanzarote

By Russ Castle on 05-May-2018

Firstly Tim provided some excellent pre information about the Villa in Lanzarote even some simple but straight forward directions from the airport, very thoughtful when you are coming to terms with a different car on the other side of the road.
The villa is indeed secluded and in a rural position but you don't however feel isolated and there are neighbours never far away. Everybody we met was friendly and helpful. The location suited us as we felt never far away from anywhere. The drive to Teguise or indeed the beech at Caleta de Famara never seamed too arduous and we went a couple of times each. The southern coast also not too far away and Puerto Del Carmen and Arrecife both worth a visit.
The property is particularly well appointed with plenty of spaces so a group like ours never feel on top of each other. The three bedrooms we used all either had fine 'en suite' facilities of a well appointed separate bathroom. All the beds were really comfortable and rooms well ventilated. The kitchen particularly well appointed with everything for every meal from a simple breakfast to a lavish banquet. The BBQ works particularly well and we enjoyed eating outside around the pool.
The bar and games room provided a 'pool' of entertainment into the early hours on a couple of occasions.
All in all we rate this property highly and will look to visit again in the future.

My Response

Beautiful typical house of the island with all modern comforts, very clean, tastefully decorated. The house is quietly situated in the middle of a magnificent nature and away from the tourist centers. Its central location allows to reach all the island in less than 30 minutes and the main beaches in less than 15 min. The kids loved the private pool in the house. The activities of the people to provide wood (for the stove), for the maintenance of the pool and for the household, is done in all discretion and with a lot of thoughtfulness. Attention, a car is essential; but you will not be disappointed!bertrand, I have taken the liberty to translate your review for non french speaking potential guests.

Dear Bertrand and family,Thank you for your kind and thoughful review. It is such a motivator for the team who look after the day to day activity at no 4. I understand the weather was not kind to you during your stay. Should you return at some time in the future, we will make a little surprise that will go a little way to help forget the previous weather. Warm Regards Tim and Dianne

what a wonderful 10 days just spent here - first time abroad for our young family and the kids loved it so much that mum and dad were able to relax too. The villa is superbly furnished and the facilities are top quality. So many thoughtful details in every room that made it a home from home. Beautiful and secluded location but not more than a few minutes in a car to restaurants and supermarkets. The bar and games room was a real hit with the whole family as was the pool of course. Would definitely return
My Response

Dear Andy and Family Thank you for your kind comments on no 4! We are delighted that your stay met both your expectations and the children too. Our neighbours have a 'wandering Iguana', which is where the name of the club room comes from! We look forwards to your return again in the future. Best wishes Tim and Dianne

Fantastic Property

By Andy And Nadine on 16-Nov-2017

We stayed here for a short break with 5 friends and had a wonderful time. It is centrally located so easy to reach most parts of the island. Only a 20 min drive from the airport and a 10 min drive to the nearest beaches. We love to bike ride and were able to hire good quality road and mountain bikes at very affordable prices locally and the opportunities to ride on the island are seemingly endless. We must also mention the nearby town of Teguise that has the most amazing restaurants and a fabulous market on Sundays.

On to the property itself, it was perfect for our needs - a large modern kitchen and adjoining semi formal dining area which was great to entertain. A dedicated bar and games area along with a separate very comfortable relaxing lounge area. The central ground floor room of the property has lovely character and links all parts of the house very cleverly. Most bedrooms are en-suite. Elevated heated pool with great views.

Owners provided all the information we required for a thoroughly enjoyable stay - Very Strongly Recommended.

Luxurious and private.what more could you want! :)

By Helen Bonner on 10-Oct-2017

I have stayed at this beautiful farmhouse many times over the years and it never disappoints! The interior is beautiful and so well kept, every detail has been thought of and with the new kitchen and additional bathroom its even better!

I came with girlfriends this time and it was the most perfect relaxing house to spend our time in. We relaxed by the pool by day and then ate at the wonderful restaurants nearby in the evening. All restaurants were excellent and of superb quality and of course had been recommended by Tim and Dianne.

Lanzarote is a wonderful Island and this Farmhouse is in the perfect location to explore it! I cannot wait to go again....just struggling to decide if to bring the family or book another girls trip!!!

Stunning Farmhouse for a relaxing stay

5 of 5
The farmhouse is located in the centre of the island which means that nothing on the island is that far to travel to. The property is extremely private and secluded with white walls round the pool forming an extremely secluded and relaxing sun trap. We visited with two small children aged 3 years and 11 months, and had a great stay, everything we needed for the baby was present, including cot and high chair, and our 3 year old went into the pool at least once a day. The high ceilings also meant that inside it was always a pleasant temperature. The bathrooms, kitchen and utility room were extremely well fitted out with modern equipment, which with young children was essential. There is very little to nothing within walking distance, even Tao would be a bit of a trek, so a car is essential, however, with a car every thing you need is no more than 5min away in the local towns. If you want a relaxing holiday away from the main tourist resorts, but within easy travelling distance of everything on the island this is a great location, within a very comfortable and spacious villa with modern equipment and excellent facilities.

Quality and Seclusion

5 of 5
Just arrived back to the UK from two weeks wonderful holiday in this superb Farmhouse/Villa No 4. As family of adults we have been renting quality villas in Lanzarote for over 20 years and this property is in our top 2. From the moment you enter the property you can see the care and attention to detail that Tim and Dianne have invested in the property over the past 25 years. Every bedroom and bathroom are superb, the dining areas cater for everyone's taste, the pool is heaven and Tim's Club Iguana a great place to have fun and entertainment for all the family in the evenings. The brand new kitchen just shows how much Tim and Dianne are willing to invest in this property to make it as comfortable as they possibly can for those of us lucky enough to holiday here. A car is essential but Tim's restaurant guide is spot on, some lovely restaurants serving quality food within a few km of the villa including the local Sociedad in Toa which offers good local food at excellent prices with very friendly staff. Finally if you like stunning views then the view from the road as you approach the villa looking out to Famara beach 12 km away on a clear day is spectacular. We have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this Farmhouse/Villa for your next holiday in Lanzarote. Booking our holiday with Tim was a pleasure and one we hope we will be able to experience again soon.

Luxury in the heart of Lanzarote

5 of 5
From the moment you arrive and take in the fabulous views, to the moment you unpack and explore this fantastic farmhouse your onto a winner. Upon arrival we were greeted and shown round the property. Immediately we could see It's clear the owner takes great pride as each room was finished to a very high standard, lovely comfortable beds, En suites to boot and easily spacious enough to cope with our large travelling party. "You could get lost" as there are so many rooms..! Highlights for us was of course the Pool area, catering for the children amongst us but also offering the space/facilities to entertain a BBQ or two. The games room was an instant hit and many an evening we spent playing Pool/Snooker taking in the useful and often overused bar facilities..! The front of the house allowed an opportunity to chat/eat as a family under the stars taking in the peaceful surroundings. Times like this are few and far between at home.! If your a walker there is plenty of scope to explore but a car is essential if you want to see the island. The central location means local towns and villages are within easy reach for your amenities as well as glorious beaches, the volcanic scenery and wine regions. So to finish, if your looking for that touch of class and luxury away from the hustle and bustle of a traditional resort hotel and with a great location for exploring a beautiful island. Then look no further than this gem of a property, it ticked all of our boxes and we would highly recommend to all of our friends and family.

Well done - but be careful not to go out too far! Best regards Tim and Dianne

Fantastic property finished to an extremely high standard, there is everything you could possibly need there and more! This was our second time as a family to stay at the farmhouse (I have also been with friends) and it was just wonderful, the house is perfectly secluded and brilliantly situated on the island for visiting attractions and lots of lovely beaches! Tim and Dianne's restaurant suggestions are fantastic....we love Bar Sol for lots of fresh fish, Cantina for lovely food all round and a new one this time for us was Bar Grillen, great for meat lovers! All of these are within 10 minutes from the house!

We had a baby and two teenagers and the house couldn't have been more perfect for all of us, everyone loved the pool, the teenagers enjoyed the pool table and we enjoyed the peace and quiet! We will definitely be back again, this house has turned in to a family favourite for all of us! :)

Don't normally write reviews but in this case we felt we would like to share our experience at this fabulous farmhouse, which the owners Tim and Diane have worked so hard over the years to update and improve. This 4 bedroom accommodation tucked away in the small village of Tao was just what we were looking for and compleletly fulfilled our expectations and more. The furnishings and fittings were 1st class and each room was themed with high quality furniture.

We have no hesitation in recommending this property to others for a wonderful holiday.

A fabulous villa

5 of 5
We arrived at lunchtime and villa was ready. We shared it with our friends and there were two two year olds in tow. The villa is spacious enough to contain two different families with adequate areas to escape to. Decoration celebrates the uniqueness of the island & is comfortable. We had great fun, at night, playing billiards and could make as much noise as we wanted as we weren't disturbing the little ones and the front lounge is also very comfortable. A large, spacious, well equipped villa that offers so much for the price. Highly recommend. Emma Pedro

In addition we have separated them from the main library and they are now in the drawers under the TV. We finally found that tiny leak and replaced the the pipe work to be certain! Actually we are planning a complete replacement of the kitchen to take place this spring! Thank you all again! PS we obviously share the same opinion of the Club Iguana:))

What a great place to stay on Lanzerote! First of all, the location provides easy access to nearby towns and villages and yet it enjoys a country feel with a spectacular view to the coast and hills beyond. The 'farmhouse' description doesn't really do it justice as the accommodation, decor and facilities are both comprehensive and modern and finished to a high standard. What strikes you most upon arrival though is the extensive layout of the house - you really have to go round it a couple of times to appreciate what's there and with four bedrooms, lounge, dining room, games room, kitchen and central lounge area, there is certainly no lack of space. With the pool and sunbathing area as well you can happily spend the whole day there without venturing out at all. The house is clearly well looked after and maintained and we had no problems during our stay. Although there is plenty of scope for walking from the property, you do of course need a car to get out and about and there is plenty to see and do on the island. The volcanic area of Lanzerote is spectacular but we particularly enjoyed visiting the coastal towns and sampling some of the many different restaurants. All sorts of food is on offer but I would certainly recommend trying the fish - they really know how to cook it to perfection.

In short, I really enjoyed my time here and would thoroughly recommend it as a great place to stay on Lanzerote.

This was our first ever stay in Lanzarote and in this property (and the first proper family holiday with our three year old). We were completely blown away by the size and quality of the accommodation and the attention to detail that went into making this villa the most welcoming, clean and comfortable holiday home we have ever been to.

Firstly the villa is huge (at least to our standards) and what's good about the size is that alongside the 4 bedrooms which could comfortably sleep 8 people, you have what felt like an endless number of reception rooms and outdoor seating areas, all of them good sized so you never need to be in each other's way unless you want to.

On arrival, you can immediately tell that the house was not meant as a holiday rental but as the owners' long term holiday home. Everything from the bathrooms to the soft furnishing is of the highest spec and most rooms have been recently upgraded. Anything you could wish for is provided including tons of freshly laundered towels and beach towels, a fully equipped kitchen and utility room, private pool, billiard room satellite TV and children essential items such as potty, stool, beach toys and games etc.

We only had one day of not so brilliant weather but there was plenty in the house to keep us and our daughter entertained.

Additionally Tim and his "crew" as he likes to call them, are most accommodating from arranging your car hire to providing a hamper on your arrival, from advice of where to eat and what to visit to immediately sorting out any snags that might arise.

Finally the location was brilliant, the villa is secluded so you will need a car to go out and about, but everything in Lanzarote seems to be no more than 30 minutes away with many attractions and beaches being within 10 minutes from the house. We loved the volcanoes area of Timanfaya and the spectacular Jameos del Agua but in one week we couldn't see everything that the island has to offer so we will definitely go back again.

Fantastic Stay in a grogeous villa

5 of 5
The location and the villa itself were superb - exactly as per photos and description (in fact, don't do it justice). The furnishings were of a high quality and there were lots of little touches to ensure that it felt like home.

The island is lovely- chilled, not too commercial but still geared up enough to meet the needs of holiday makers.

We used Anton car hire who were really efficient and the meet and greet worked brilliantly. No hard sell about insurance or fuel and even had the exact location of the villa marked on the map for us!

All in all, we had a fantastic time and wouldn't hesitate to recommend the villa to others - a true 5 star villa which is perfect for those who like a little luxury and don't mind being a short drive from amenities. Tim provided plenty of useful info about the villa and surrounding areas prior to the trip and was the perfect remote host.

Owner's Response: Hi Sam Hi Paul (and family), Thank you for your review. It really is uplifting to know you all enjoyed no 4! (We never did get around to giving the farmhouse a name). Our team do get a buzz when they see their preparation and maintenance regime is recognised. Thank you all for leaving the farmhouse so thoughtfully. Sadly for Dianne and myself we rarely get to speak with our guests. Best wishes Dianne and Tim

Fabulous farmhouse, beautiful location.

5 of 5
We found the property lives up to all expectations for a great holiday. The surroundings are picturesque and great for morning walks, before the heat of the sun. The farmhouse was lovely and clean and very well equipped. Each room has it's own style and beautifully furnished. The games room was an added bonus for myself and my three friends. We collected our hired car on arrival and found it really easy to travel from the farmhouse around the Island. The village of Tao is just down the road and the coast ( in view from the upstairs bedroom) is a short drive away. The property has a very nice pool and ideal for families. I would certainly book the farmhouse again, it definitely deserves the 5* rating. Carol and friends, Lincolnshire.

We found paradise at the Villa farmhouse, relaxing, calming and good for the soul nothing has been overlooked for your comfort

Short drives to amazing restaurants and bars, 20 minutes easy walk to the 2 village bar restaurants, , great pool area with adequate sun and shade, disturbed only by birdsong.

still missing the croaking frogs on our return in the evenings, a holiday to remember for all of the above, we return home feeling as though we had had a holiday.

Recently returned from an excellent relaxing holiday at the farmhouse.Set almost in the centre of the island where it was quiet and peaceful, with beautifull surrounding countryside views. With transport it was easy to visit all parts of the island . The farmhouse is very comfortable and spacious with every facility provided for a great holiday. There is a beautifull private swimming pool area with barbecue facilities which we enjoyed ,and lovely shaded areas when required We had several walks along the gorgeous beach at Famara and Playa Honda Had relaxed lunches by the Marina at Puerto Calero and Arrecife.Walked to the local village Tao and had lovely meals at the Sociadad where they made us very welcome .A terrific holiday which I would highly recommend . P.S If you have a choice the upstairs bedroom has great views across the island as far as the coast.

We stayed at this property last week and can't recommend it highly enough. The house has everything you need for a most comfortable stay. All the rooms and bedrooms are furnished to a very high standard and the 3 bathrooms have been recently refurbished. The swimming pool area is a very nice place to relax and enjoy the sun and the pool is cleaned regularly. There is even a bar room to relax and enjoy music and/or a game of pool in the evening. The property is located in the quiet village of Tao so a car is necessary to get anywhere. However, it is not far from any of the Island's main attractions. There are several pretty places to visit nearby including Famara Beach which is a lovely place to walk along the beach and enjoy the sundown. There is also The town of Teguise 10 minutes away which has several lovely restaurants and an arts and crafts market every Sunday morning. Playa Honda is also only 10 minutes away and has a lovely coastal walk to Arecife ( you can also cycle along the coastal path). We had a wonderful holiday here and have already recommended it to our family and friends. Can't wait to go back.

Absolutely perfect

5 of 5
My friends and I - we were four adults and two toddlers - fell in love with the farmhouse the second we walked through the door. The front room is bathed in natural light - the views from the patio across Lanzarote are beautiful and the pool area is private and brilliantly sheltered from the wind. We had every single thing we could want - towels (both beach and bath), inflatables for the kids to play with in the pool, plenty of bedding, hairdryers, dishwasher and washing machine. The farmhouse itself was spotlessly clean and the showers are fantastic.

It was cold in the evenings and Tim's lovely neighbour brought us wood for the wood-burner in the front room which made for a lovely cosy evening after the kids had gone to bed!

The farmhouse is huge - we had more than enough space and it could comfortably sleep 8 adults (there are three double beds which makes a change from the multitude of 'one double, one twin' villas you get).

Tim organised our car hire (we used Anthon who were fantastic with no hidden charges and extra driver included - can't recommend them enough) and also arranged for us to have an extra high chair and cot for a small fee.

The area itself is fantastic - placed almost in the middle of the island, very close to the wine region and a 40 min scenic drive to our favourite beach (Papagayo). Unfortunately it was a little too windy/rough for us to explore the closer beach Famara but we did go and have a look and it's absolutely gorgeous - would be perfect for adults but not the best with kids.

In short - I can't recommend this villa enough. Perfection!

We had a wonderful stay at 4 Lumo de San Andrés!

The house is large, welcoming and very stylish. It combines all the facilities for a comfortable stay along with some charming authentic features. The weather was very kind to us whilst we were there so we were able to use the pool, visit the many surrounding pictureque beaches and enjoy the local sights. Teguise was my favourite spot to eat and Playa Blanca was fun for bars and cafes with a great choice of shops. Four of us stayed in the house for a 'girls'; (we're all mums), break. It was the perfect spot to relax, read, sunbathe, eat out and enjoy the sights. I haven't been to Lanzarote before but found it to be a lot cleaner, calmer and more serene than some of its neighbouring islands/countries and will definitely return. In fact I'm hoping to book the same accommodation for my family in the near future. Thank you Mr & Mrs Kelleher for a fabulous stay. Zoey

Christmas, Lanzarote style!

A lovingly appointed villa which felt more like a home from home rather than a holiday let. We loved staying there. Tim and Diane (the owners) have done a great job in making the villa a wonderful place to relax and forget about the rest of the world. They provided us with a vast amount of insider information about interesting things to see and do. We got to go to restaurants and places we, probably, wouldn't have known about otherwise.

It is always a bit tricky to rent a holiday home off the internet and you never know whether the reviews you read a telling the full story. But I can honestly say, everything we read about this villa, the owner's description and the reviews, was spot on. And even when we did have a minor issue that needed sorting out, the communication with Tim and the gentleman who does the maintenance for the villa was excellent and very prompt.

All in all, it was a lovely way to spend our Christmas holiday away from the usual Christmas madness. Our teenage children's favourite bit was gazing at the stars at night and spotting the milky way!

We arrived from the airport and immediately had a sense of tranquility and peace in this special part of the Island as the house seems to stand alone in the landscape having far reaching views to the coast (which is only about 10 minutes drive away) The neighbours nearby have a house which is behind and up the hill slightly so you don't really register that they are there.

This old Farmhouse has been renovated in such a way that there are all the modern conveniences to hand whilst retaining the original character of the house. We chose the upstairs bedroom which has a welcoming rustic feel and a great view down to the coastal village of Famara.

The large master bedroom with its fabulous ensuite occupy a private part of the house to the left of the main entrance and the remaining two downstairs bedrooms are on opposite sides of the main living area with its focal point - a fantastic antique cast iron wood burning stove imported from Germany which I can imagine would heat up the whole house in the winter months.

The large open plan kitchen and dining room provide all you would need for a night in or entertaining and the bar just off the dining room is perfect for pre dinner drinks or partying on through the night!

There is a large cool lounge - a great place to relax and far enough away from the other living spaces to be able to enjoy a film or watch your favourite sports on the large TV without disturbing any of your fellow house guests.

Outside the pool pool area is totally private and has a shaded sitting area for eating or just chilling out when you have had enough sun and the wonderfully refreshing pool to cool down in between relaxing and soaking up the rays of the sun.

The veranda at the front of the house provides a great place to enjoy breakfast or a sundowner whilst taking in the thoughtfully planted garden with its Aloes and other indigenous species strikingly offset by the black volcanic gravel mulch and view across to the local village of Tao.

Tao is within easy walking distance and should you feel like experiencing some local atmosphere there is a large and very welcoming Sociadad serving food and drinks at very reasonable prices.

There are great restaurants and shops within easy driving distance of the house - the beach restaurant "Sol" in the laid back village of Fermara was our favourite. Enjoy great Tapas and local seafood a glass of chilled wine or beer and gaze out to sea as you realise you never want to leave this special island.

A really attractive, well equipped and stylish house in the middle of the island so a nice quiet place to be and everywhere is easy to reach as well. If anything nicer than described.

We were well looked after with instructions, suggestions of what to do and a first night pack of food and wine was we were arriving late.

We made lots of excursions to Teguise sunday market (teenage clothing a big hit), the Los Verdes caves (well worth it), the Volcano park (a roller coaster like ride in a huge bus on a narrow twisting road so not such a hit), Graciosa (really nice), Playa Blanca water park (good slides) and Famara beach (warm water even in October and great surfing).

House pool area a good sun trap with lots of loungers and a well used by us barbeque. Pool not big but ideal for splash around and to cool down.

Although well located it is quite isolated and every time we left the house we went by car. Bedroom layout makes a party of six ideal as three doubles are all nice but twin gets quite hot. Our rating is for a a maximum of six.

A really nice rural house about as far you can get from the bright lights of Lanzarote which is why - along with the owner's helpful advice - we enjoyed our week so much.

Wonderful escape to tranquility

4 of 5
Villa Kelleher was a lovely peaceful haven for us for a week. After a few holidays in busier Lanzarote resorts, we were looking forward to the rural landscape and tranquility of this beautiful property. We did need to keep a regular supply of wood going on the burner in the evenings but for February you couldn't complain. The farmhouse had everything we could have asked for and the neighbours were fabulous at checking we wanted for nothing. I'm not sure I'd recommend it to families or groups with very small or elderly members, as there are steps going in and out of many rooms which can take you by surprise. Also, the pool area looked lovely but we couldn't really use it with it being a little hazardous for toddlers. But for those who just wish to escape from the world, breathe pure air, take in stunning views and have a fab base to drive around the island, then this is the perfect place. We made come very special memories and thank Tim and his family for allowing us to enjoy the magic of their home.

Review Submitted: Feb 21, 2014 Date of Stay: Feb 2014 Source:
Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind comments Vanessa and we are pleased you all enjoyed the character and ambience of the farmhouse. We understand your view about the 3 /4 steps up to the pool terrace would be difficult for an 18 month old and a 3.5 old year. These steps also act an obstacle to accessing the pool terrace, and with the lockable door at the top of the steps, no child can just 'fly' out of the house and straight into the pool! Any swimming or paddling pool is naturally a potential danger, in particular to young children. You being clearly aware of this issue on holiday have taken the responsible steps to avoid unnecessary risks with the pool. A swimming pool is there to be enjoyed by all, but we must at ALL times be highly attentive to our children. I think your approach is the same as all responsible parents and grandparents ...as in our case, Charlie who is 2.5year old can never be on the pool terrace without a parent.

Our stay at Tim,s villa

5 of 5
We booked the property on the basis of the reviews we had read , and our search criteria we had set ourselves.

We wanted somewhere that was quite and had a private pool where we could enjoy our honeymoon, but still have the option to take in all the sights of the island with out having to spend ages driving.

The villa was spot on on all counts.

We would and will be very happy to stay again with out any hesitation

We found a couple of great places to eat with a very nice restaurant in Mozaga called Caserio de Mozaga hard to find but well worth it and another La Lapa in El Golfo

I am sure there were more to find but don't get your hopes up on a Sunday the best you can hope for is frozen pizza from the petrol station we managed to make the same mistake twice.

We were fortunate to meet Tim the owner who was fantastic nothing was to much trouble even organising the car hire , landing to the car in 20 mins, faultless!!!!

The card flowers and chocolates for our wedding on our arrival were so thoughtfull.

Mary and her husband Tim who lived up the track were great too offering both local knowledge and the offer of assistance if we needed it, which was great comfort.

We had a fantastic 10 days at the villa and were sad to have to come home, but intend to go back as soon as we can.

The villa being almost in the centre of the island made travel easy, it was clean decorated and maintained to a high standard with everything you would need for either a quite self contained holiday or cable of accommodating a family or even a group of friends with out feeling crowded

It must be said that there are several changes in floor level that could cause problems for any one who had sight or mobility issues. That said a perfect location for a peaceful holiday.

I have spent many holidays in Tim & Dianne's property over the last 20 years and remember it as a donkey farmhouse when they first bought it. The house has charm and character but has been tastefully modified with all mod cons., well appointed bathrooms, kitchen etc. With Wi-Fi and the internet you can watch all your favourite T.V. Programmes (especially if you are a Corrie fan like me). It is quiet and peaceful yet you can reach the beach, village and towns within minutes by car, best of both worlds really!

What can I say? well the farmhouse was way beyond our expectations. The farmhouse is very spacious and very relaxing. The comfort of the bedrooms were exceptional. The ability to chat to family members on facetime while sat in the pool was an excellent "wish you were here moment". The living room was very relaxing and the ability to watch british TV was a great touch, catching up with the football while the wife sits by the pool allowed us to both enjoy the house in two different ways. All I can say is that I can not wait to go back again and have that home away from home feeling while on holiday! 5 stars from all of us!

Wow!! What an amazing holiday! Great weather all week. Different beach every day, we really liked the one called Famara this can be seen from the Villa. Papagayo is a great little beach too.
It's hard to describe how wonderful the Villa was to stay in, the rooms so spacious, furnished really well and up to date also important very clean.
The island has lots of attractions, the villa being situated in the middle of the island made it easy to see a lot of them, we made good use of the car, after being out and about all day, we would come back jump in the pool! and then chill out in the club/bar room, the villa has a really comfortable, warm feeling a truly excellent place to stay. We would really recommend it.

There are plenty of good restaurants and some lovely tapas bars, must go to the one in Tias called La Ermita, lush!

Loads and loads of things todo and see, if we just wanted to relax the villa was the best place to be, everything you need is there. Going for walks near to the villa were nice with spectacular views.

Overall a great holiday, we want to go again!

Stunning accommodation that fully lives up to the property's description. The Farmhouse had everything a family could possibly want and more. The pool plus the separate terrace means you have a choice of eating areas depending on the position of the sun - important if young children are in the party. The location of the property is ideal. Barely 15 minutes from the airport in a secluded yet accessible spot. The nearest beach Caleta de Farmara is a 10 minute car ride away and having a meal at Bar Sol will not disappoint. Children can play on the beach whilst their parents enjoy a drink/meal. Another beach that our grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed was Orzola Charca de la Laja. The scenery here is lovely and the lagoon ideal for safe bathing. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable holiday in fabulous accommodation that enabled all the family to relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the surroundings. We will definitely return

An excellent location, centre of island with easy access to airport (yet still peaceful!) and lots to see and do in all directions. Owners have invested in property, made good use of all spaces and provided for every need. Lovely outdoor areas and well equipped throughout. Had a fantastic 'switched off week'!

Definitely highly recommended for anyone who wants peace and tranquillity or a great spot for friends to just share.

This house is beautifully furnished , well equipped and a complete pleasure to stay in. We didnt have great weather (and lazy afternoons around the pool would have been the icing on the cake. ) As it was, Tao is a great point from which to reach much of the island, and we made the most of this - even when the weather is a bit uninspiring, head off to one of the coasts and you'll probably find that you are eating lunch outside by the ocean! A great spot to stay on Lanzarote and one that we'll definitely return to very soon.

Owner's Response: Hi Kate and James. Thank you for your review of your stay. Sorry to know the weather was not as good as it normally is! We agree the icing on the cake is to laze around with the sun looking down. I have no doubt the time you are thinking about returning is 99% certain to be fine. Best wishes Tim and Dianne
