Winter/Longer stay bookings 2025/2026..Our calendar is now open from November 2025 until March 2026 to accept longer stay bookings! Rental rates for 2 persons start at 950 pounds per month (1 month stay), reducing to 900 pounds per month (2 months stay) and 850 pounds per month for stays of 3 months or more. Please note that Utilities are extra, a fixed quote can be provided for this. Wifi is free. Please send an enquiry for further information.A warm welcome to La Perla del Mar, our family run and personally maintained coastal penthouse, a stones throw from the unspoilt El Penoncillo beach, a superb home from home and the ideal place to enjoy a laid back Andalucian beach holiday whilst the more bustling neighbouring resort of Nerja is just a 5 minute drive away. Individually furnished, La Perla is the perfect place to unwind; relax overlooking the Med' on your own private wrap around terrace which has an al fresco dining suite , gas BBQ and sunloungers, or spend time chilling at the pool where a lawned sunbathing area with Mediterranean style lawned gardens also overlooks the sea. Penoncillo beach is just opposite at an approx 250m stroll away, where there are some superb beach chiringuitos/ restaurants serving BBQ'd fish and typical Andalucian dishes, fresh and reasonably priced. There are local tapa bars and cafes and a few minutes further brings you to the promenade at Torrox costa itself with a variety of restaurants, bars and cafes and a beautiful blue flag beach.
There is a local bus service (bus stop nearby) there are also usually plenty of taxis...this is an ideal base for exploring further afield; the white villages of Frigiliana and Torrox pueblo, Nerja caves and Maro, Torre del Mar and Malaga, Granada, Ronda and Cordoba all within reach for the more adventurous!
Well maintained Accommodation comprises: Entrance hall with entry phone system, Modern fully tiled shower room with large walk in shower, Large Master bedroom with King size bed ( 2 singles joined together, so could be split if required) enjoying superb sea views and direct access to the sun terrace, a further spacious double bedroom, with the third bedroom being a twin room, fully fitted Kitchen with oven, hob, fridge freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, electric kettle, microwave, coffee machine and toaster ! Lounge Dining room overlooking the terrace and the sea, which also has Air con, ( available June to Sept,) portable gas fire for cooler days, additional panel heaters, fixed fans in bedrooms, free wifi and satellite Tv in various languages including English, Spanish, French, German etc.
The urbanisation also benefits from a large pool with lawned surrounds and tropical plants, straw umbrellas in Summertime, plus tennis court for guests to use. Sea and mountain views in all directions! Please note the pool opening times are generally from June until September, although occasionally this may be extended. The gardens and tennis court would usually continue to be available for all Year around use.
The property is always comprehensively cleaned between bookings, we are now introducing a 2nd stage disinfectant clean before each new arrival. Cleaning products including bleach will also be at the disposal of our clients for their own use if required.
No contact check in procedure:
This has always been our policy in order to respect our guests privacy, but will be even more relevant from now on, we would therefore like to reassure our guests that keys will continue to be made available for self check in.

The advertised rates from September to June are offered as a discounted rate for couples . For larger groups there is a small surcharge, please message us for more information. We also have whatsapp (July and August rates apply for upto 6 persons)
Access: Situated between Torrox Costa and Nerja, El Penoncillo is just 45 minutes drive from Malaga airport and we provide comprehensive directions.

PLEASE NOTE; the penthouse is situated on the 6th floor accessed by a lift to the 5th floor then a stairway to the 6th, so this should be taken into consideration when travelling with infants or the elderly/infirm

By Rachel on 02-Aug-2025We have just returned from a lovely holiday at Sue and Trevor’s place in El Penoncillo. The apartment has everything you need and we all particularly enjoyed the spectacular ocean views whilst having a relax, a coffee or a glass of wine. Our flight was delayed, but we were greeted with the best welcome pack I’ve ever seen - many thanks Sue and Trevor. Sue recommended a taxi driver so we used him and his colleagues often: trips home from the supermarket; trips to Torrox Costa; airport transfers; and trips to Nerja. This was our option, as we didn’t want to hire a car, but rather enjoy the restaurants and have a glass of wine. The urbanization pool is spotlessly clean and a decent size. It was never packed. There was something there for everyone - our children loved the pool and my in-laws loved Nerja. Sue’s daughter has a cafe next to Aldi called Ola and we used this many times!!! It serves delicious food and drinks!! We’d come back again - especially for those views!!! Thank you!

Ticks all the boxes
By TONY GARTHWAITE on 09-Oct-2024We only have complimentary things to say about this apartment in El Penoncillo and it is difficult to add anything new to the positive reviews of others. Communication with Sue throughout was excellent and you can trust the description on the website. In any case, Sue was more than willing to answer any queries prior to booking and during our stay. Access to numerous beachside chiringuitos is within a 5 minute walk and a further 20 minute stroll gets you to the lovely promenade and bars, shops and restaurants at Torrox Costa. In the other direction a 10 minute taxi ride gets you into wonderful Nerja. The only hilly bit you will face is the 5 minute walk to the beach but it is hardly a chore. The beach is typical of the area, very clean with coarse sand and gentle waves when we were there. If you are looking for a really nice apartment close to the beach and restaurants with a great sea view, big balcony and no need for a car, you won’t go wrong staying at La Perla del Mar.

Fantastic penthouse
By Marcus M on 07-Jul-2024La Perla is a fantastic penthouse apartment accommodating all our needs. Sue and Trevor have provided all imaginable amenities and made it home away from home. Spotlessly clean and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed sunning ourselves and BBQing on the terrace , enjoying the sea view and plenty of space for a family of 5. Ideally located to explore the area with quaint village of Frigliana in the mountains and Nerja by the beach. Fantastic communication from Sue both before our trip and during, very helpful with recommendations.
A Stand out property
By Jane W on 15-Aug-2022This apartment has to be one of the best we have stayed in in the Torrox/Nerja region. Its in a great location with superb views of the sea from the huge patio area. The apartment itself is immaculate and a truely loved space. Sue and Trevor have invested a lot of time into adding those finishing touches that make this a stand out property. There is nothing more you could ask for. The pool is a good size in well kept grounds but if you prefer the sea and the beach its a 5 minute walk away; as are some fantastic chiringuitos. Sue was always on hand if we needed anything and the welcome pack truly was most welcome when we arrived. Highly recommend

Sue was so helpful with all the information and it really felt like a home away from home.Thee view is just amazing and it was great having restaurants and bars at the beach at the end of the road without being surrounded by concrete in the middle of town.
