Overview
Description
La Tannerie is cherished for its breathtaking views over Dinan’s historic port, where the River Rance and medieval ramparts create a peaceful and ever-changing riverside backdrop visible from almost every room. It is a rare place where visitors feel completely immersed in both history and the gentle rhythm of life on the water.Perfectly positioned in the heart of the port, the house is within easy walking distance of cafés, restaurants, a bakery, and Dinan’s medieval old town, allowing you to experience the very best of the area without needing a car.
The port itself offers a wonderful choice of water-based activities, including kayak, paddleboard, canoe, and electric boat hire, creating a lively yet relaxed atmosphere right on your doorstep.
La Tannerie is a warm and character-filled home offering a comfortable and welcoming stay. With three bedrooms and three ensuite bathrooms, it accommodates up to six guests and is particularly well suited to couples and families seeking space, privacy, and an exceptional location. The cosy living areas have been thoughtfully arranged to make the most of the spectacular views.
At the rear of the property, a private enclosed courtyard provides a sunny and sheltered space for al fresco dining, a leisurely morning coffee, or simply relaxing after a day exploring the region. Secure gated parking on site is a rare and highly valuable feature in this historic setting.
For those wishing to fully embrace the unique charm of riverside life in Dinan’s picturesque port, folding garden furniture is also provided for your convenience. You are welcome to place it on the quay directly in front of the kitchen window, as shown in the photograph, and sit back while boats drift by and the gentle rhythm of port life unfolds around you. Please note that this is not a dedicated or permanent seating area, and we kindly ask that the table and chairs are returned indoors after use.
A scenic riverside walk leads to the beautiful village of Léhon, a Petite Cité de Caractère, renowned for its historic abbey, charming stone architecture, and welcoming café Glutons — a cozy spot with a seasonal homemade dishes, in a cozy, community-focused atmosphere. Enjoy hearty breakfasts, light toasty lunches, poke bowls, and salads. This café is also known for its lively events, including Friday jam sessions and a popular Sunday brunch—perfect for savoring delicious food and the warm village atmosphere.
From here, you are perfectly placed to explore Dinard, Saint-Malo, and the stunning Emerald Coast, although many visitors find themselves content to stay local and simply soak up the unique atmosphere of Dinan’s port and riverside life.

La Tannerie and Dinan
By Neil Byrne on 05-Sep-2026Firstly the property was exceptional, so comfortable and clean and well appointed. Loads of useful local information provided plus a fab welcoming pack too. Best of all was the amazing location giving us stunning views of the river and Dinan Port. Secondly the location was incredible. The port area was beautiful with lovely walks along the river to the neighbouring village of Lehon, boat trips, and plenty more to explore across the medieval bridge to the bars and bistros opposite. The free bus service (30 seconds walk from the house), into the town of Dinan was great and the town is stunning and another excellent place to explore. Finally the host, Judith was so kind and welcoming from initial enquiry right through to departure. Her dedication to personal service was amazing and just not something that you would get with some of the larger holiday rental companies. Having that extra personal touch really made the difference and added to a wonderful holiday that will live long in our memories 😁
A hidden gem!
By Kevin from Ireland on 04-Jul-2026This is our third stay at the lovely La Tannerie and our fourth stay in Port de Dinan with Brittany Connections and every stay has been wonderful. Judith from Brittany Connections is always more than helpful and accommodating and, along with the hosts, flexible with our bookings. There is a great buzz around the port during the day yet it is always calm and relaxed at night. Plenty of restaurants to choose from within walking distance and great access to the river for boat cruises or kayaking. And if you are feeling sporty there is a terrific, unending bike/running trail along the river. Finally, if you are in the port when the annual water jousting tournament is on you will certainly be entertained! Gladiators of the river!
Lovely stay
By Summer on 25-Jul-2026This was our second stay at this lovely property. The port area is very beautiful as is the town. We particularly enjoyed the walks alongside the water in both directions with our dogs. The property has a secure courtyard area with plenty of seating, tables and a sun umbrella. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you could need, there is also a washing machine. The welcome pack was a lovely touch. The view of the port from the kitchen and bedrooms is beautiful. The local restaurants were excellent, and despite being busy, the area felt very safe and was quiet overnight. Communication with the host was excellent and very helpful.
Superbly equipped with everything one could need..
By Marilyn and Frank C on 07-Jun-2025A wonderful house in an excellent location. We explored so many fascinating places during our stay and always enjoyed coming back to the comfort of the house, which is superbly equipped with everything one could need. The local restaurants offered plenty of choice, making each evening a pleasure. It was lovely to meet Guillaume, the owner, and our sincere thanks go to Judith for making all the arrangements so easy and seamless. We very much hope to return in the future.

By The Foresters on 23-Aug-2025What a truly fabulous house! We had the most wonderful time discovering Dinan and the charming corners of Brittany. Everything about our stay was perfect, thank you so much for making it so memorable.
The house exceeded all our expectations
By Sarah and Steve on 28-Jun-2025What a truly wonderful week we’ve had! The weather has been gorgeous, and the house exceeded all our expectations. We absolutely loved its charm and amazing location. Evenings spent outside infant of the house with a glass of wine, simply watching the world go by, have been a real pleasure. While we enjoyed a couple of lovely meals out, most evenings were spent in the courtyard with fresh bread and cheese from the local supermarket. Thank you for a truly memorable week.
