Welcome to La Libellule, dating back to the early 1800s, it’s full of charm and character retaining some of its original features such as stone walls and beams and a lovely 10x5m swimming pool.

It’s a lovely apartment designed for couples who love the outdoors, peace and tranquility and for those who wish to reconnect with nature.

We are at the end of a long track with no main roads, but close enough to amenities at the same time, you’ll reach some double gates with a large drive. There are magnificent views of the Dordogne countryside and amazing sunsets.

We are wildlife enthusiasts and are turning part of the grounds into a wildflower meadow with paths cut through so guests can wonder looking for butterflies and other pollinators.You may even see deer and hear the wild boar down by the river in our woods. We have red squirrel and hare in the garden, the red squirrels love to feed off our walnut tree. You’ll see and hear many birds feeding off our bird feeders too. We also have a pair of Peregrine Falcons in our woods, it’s amazing to see them fighting off other Peregrine Falcons . The highlight of the year is seeing the hundreds of cranes migrating over the Dordogne. The sound is absolutely amazing.

Please bear in mind the effect that the seasons can have on the appearance of the gardens, particularly high season due to extreme heat and lack of rain. Sadly the grounds maybe lacking in flowers and the ground be brown.

A large Kitchen dining room - fully equipped, fridge freezer, and coffee maker etc. There is a washing machine in the barn if you wish to use. We are also adding another unit in the kitchen for more storage etc

You then enter a rather quirky sort of hallway/room with a low beam so watch your head but we’ve cushiness it so your ok.

This takes you into a Large studio type room with a beautiful queen size French bed, settee, flat screen smart TV for streaming.There is also a small dressing room again rather quirky. This area used to be the pig sty, it’s full of charm and character with the bedroom retaining its original stone walls.

Double doors open out into the grounds for outdoor dining and BBQs, Sun Lounges and a parasol.

Our guests will receive a welcome pack so please let me know if you have any allergies.

We have another 3 bed apartment that shares the pool at the front of the property. We stayed on holiday in the apartment and absolutely loved it, can’t believe we ended up buying it!

There are 2 bikes in the pool room for guests to use, cycling is lovely along the minor lanes and river. There are also many hiking trails in the area.

To discourage landfill we have supplied recycling bags and built a compost for all your vegetable

We are only an 15 min walk to the vllage that has the river lisle running through it where you can enjoy picnics. There is also a very popular restaurant, pharmacy, grocery store with boulangerie and sports bar. We are only a 10 min drive to the town of Thiviers with its weekly market. There are 3 supermarkets Lidls, Intermarche Super and Auchan plus banks with ATMs. The historic village of Saint Jean De Cole is only an 15 min drive, the beautiful town of Brantome is only a 30 min drive with its huge weekly market, you can hire kayaks here for the more adventurous. Jumilhac Castle is another must to visit. For those with a sense of adventure and only 5 mins away is the Veloraol du PERIGORD ( it’s a 2hr ride pedalling on a railway buggy on a disused railway track through woodland, over bridges, through tunnels and past abandoned stations. For cyclists there is the disused 40km long railway track from Thiviers to Nontron. If you enjoy willd swimming there is the swimming lake at Plan d’eau Nantheuil with its beaches close by.

There is plenty of space for parking at least 4 cars.

We will not be restricting our guests to Saturday to Saturday booking, you can book any day of the week.

To confirm we will supply all bed linen. All towels including pool ones and anything needed for the bbq and kitchen.

There are wall mounted heaters for those chilly evenings in.

The pool is seasonal and will be open towards the end of April to the end of September
