Overview
Description
La Baronnie gîte is a traditional French rustic gîte converted from animal stables and sleeps two to a maximum of six people in three bedrooms (one with en-suite). The gîte has its own dedicated drive with gates for secure off-road parkingThe lounge has free WiFi, a DVD/Blu-ray player and TV with UK satellite free-to-air channels. A selection of board games are available for your use.
Outside is your own private patio with table, chairs, pergola and large Weber charcoal barbecue.
Downstairs comprises a living room area separated from a large kitchen/diner by traditional feeder stalls. Upstairs comprises three bedrooms (one with en-suite) and a bathroom with shower. Bedroom 1 has a double bed, bedroom 2 has a double bed with en-suite and bedroom 3 has two single beds. Bedrooms 1 and 2 have electric radiators and the bathroom and en-suite each have a heated towel rail.
A hair-dryer is provided in each bedroom. A small safe is provided in bedroom 1.
Quality bed linen is provided along with Egyptian cotton M&S white fluffy towels. If a change of bed linen or towels is required during the week, a charge may be levied. Stays of more than one week include a change of linen and towels on Saturdays. Beds are made-up prior to your arrival.
Beach towels are provided for use around the pool, as well as towels to use off site such as canoeing.
An iron and ironing board are provided.
Please note that we do not accept children under 5, dogs or any other pets.
As the Tour de France comes past the gite on Saturday 11th July we can only accept bookings for the fortnight 4th - 18th July as the road is closed on the 11th.

By Clare & John Cammack on 22-Aug-2026We’ve just had a brilliant week at La Baronnie, a lovely gîte right in the heart of Périgord Noir with amazing views over the Dordogne valley. The location is spot on: only minutes from the châteaux of Beynac, Castelnaud and Les Milandes, and perfectly placed for Sarlat, the Vézère prehistoric sites and all those picture-postcard riverside villages. The gîte itself is spacious, comfy and clearly set up for people who like self-catering. The kitchen is modern, really well equipped and nice to cook in. A great base for fitness freaks with great running and cycling from the door. Having our own exclusive-use pool made the whole stay feel that bit more special. It’s private, well looked after and perfect for cooling off after a morning of castle-hopping, walking in the heat, or a canoe trip on the Dordogne. The outdoor area is set up for proper chilling: plenty of space for sunbathing, aperitifs and long lunches without feeling overlooked. The location is the other big plus. Beynac, Castelnaud and Les Milandes are all just a few minutes’ drive away. Sarlat’s close enough for the market and the whole area is packed with things to do if you’re into culture, food and outdoor stuff in equal measure. If you’re after a calm, scenic base with a proper kitchen and a private pool in the most beautiful part of the Dordogne, this gîte is great. We’d definitely come back.

We are lucky to live in such a wonderful area within a stone's throw of all the most beautiful and interesting places to visit. Beautiful gite
By Sarah Cavallo on 28-Jul-2026Sarah Cavallo We spent a wonderful 12 days at Shona and Steve’s beautiful Gite, which is tucked high up in their terraced garden overlooking the Dordogne river valley, with exclusive use of their elegant swimming pool. Both pool and gite were scrupulously clean. The gite has a new, super well stocked kitchen and Shona provided an endless supply of towels for the bathroom, pool and canoeing trips. We were well placed to visit local supermarkets and St and Cyprien’s Sunday market. There’s a seemingly endless choice of incredible chateaux, my favourite being Chateau des Milandes , a 10 minute drive away. The famous Sarlat du Caneda is also very close -and wherever you go, it is stunningly beautiful. Shona and Steve (with their 3 wonderful and friendly cats!) are so welcoming, kind, helpful and generous - the perfect hosts. We spent several evenings together, chatting about the day over a glass of wine (or two) which made for a totally unique and special holiday. Thankyou both for sharing your wonderful home with us. The Gite itself is spacious, immaculate and wonderfully equipped.It has its own private patio area, with pergola/ BBQ ~ perfect for enjoying Al fresco meals, and a chilled glass ( or two!!) of rose wine!! The pool area is beautifully presented, with its own private , outdoor shower. The views are spectacular ! An added bonus is the off road , private, secure parking. Shona and Steve are fantastic hosts, in every way. We thoroughly enjoyed their company on numerous occasions, throughout our holiday. We can highly recommend to stay. Thank you Shona and Steve. Relaxing holiday after a family wedding

It was an excellent area to start exploring the Dordogne.
