Description
Villa de Cour is a beautiful, spacious and imposing old farmhouse, with a living area of 250m2 and extensive garden on both sides of the house. It has been renovated whilst maintaining the original features, including an ancient barn, well and bread oven.The enclosed, spacious grassy courtyard is ideal for sunbathing, outdoor games and relaxing. It provides access to the private gated swimming pool. The front garden includes a stone terrace, lawn and barbecue and overlooks walnut groves and the countryside beyond - a beautiful and relaxing spot to watch the sun set. With two separate sitting rooms and a large kitchen diner, it is an ideal house for one or two families, or a large group of friends to relax in peaceful, rural surroundings.
Situated in the small hamlet of La Germenie in beautiful and peaceful countryside, the house is well placed for exploring the major tourist attractions of the Dordogne Valley, such as:
- the medieval towns of Sarlat, Montignac and Domme
- the famous Lascaux caves with their prehistoric cave paintings
- numerous castles such as Hautefort, Losse, Jumilhac le Grand, Beynac and Castelnaud
- kayaking on the river
- local food markets, such as Excideuil
- the local water park at Hautefort.
The house is 3 km from the delightful village of Sainte Orse where you can enjoy a coffee in the square, buy fresh bread and eat at the local hotel. Supermarkets and more restaurants are a 10 minute drive away in Hautefort or Thenon. There are many local walks and bike routes on designated paths and quiet local roads.

Changeover day is Saturday. Prices include cleaning at the end of your stay and local tourist taxes.

A rural idyll
By Cas and Tom on 18-Jul-2026We brought our family together for a glorious French holiday in this wonderful farmhouse. We were four adult couples and there was plenty of choice about where to sleep with one part of the old house being separate at one end. We loved the old timbered roof, lofty space and separate cool, comfortable sitting room. At the other side of this old farmhouse is a series of rooms which comfortably accommodated three young couples. There were so many lovely homely touches- aperitif glasses, lovely comfortable pool loungers and shade umbrellas. You can have breakfast at one side of the house in the morning sun and supper in the evening looking out over the old walnut groves. The local village is a walk away through the countryside and there’s a little shop selling breads and wine and a few essentials with a weekly fish delivery- open 8-12 daily and a hotel for a meal or a drink. We had two cars and made day trips to local markets, caves, rivers and meals out. It is a rural location and we also enjoyed evening walks. Jane was available for questions and was super prompt with the booking process, returning our deposit within a week. I loved this house and could have stayed the whole summer. It’s off the main tourist trail and so peaceful and authentic but everything is in reach- Sarlat, the Dordogne river etc if you want to head out. Go!

A great place to stay
By Keith McDermott on 01-Aug-2026We booked the property to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary with our family, a total party of six adults and five young children under 10. The accommodation was perfect for our needs and very spacious indeed. We loved having two living room rooms with the kitchen in the middle. The mezzanine bedroom was particularly stunning and really good. The kitchen was well equipped and the barbecue and the barbecue area ideal.. The outside space is really impressive with plenty of room to run around and enjoy Football and other games. The swimming pool was particularly impressive and a great size for all of us to enjoy. We found the owners to be very helpful and quick to respond to any request for information or advice. There are many great places to visit in the surrounding areas, and the nearby town of Hautefort is particularly charming with the Castle a great feature.
A picturesque and relaxing stay
By Eliza on 11-Jul-2026We loved our time at Jane's villa. Instructions were clear and helpful throughout the whole trip and we found the area beautiful and peaceful. We particularly loved the pool and outside dining, making for entertaining days and relaxing evenings. The villa was large and possessed a countryside charm. Sainte Orse and the nearby Chateau at Hautefort were beautiful to visit. Everything was clean and well equipped, with special mention to the kitchen and BBQ equipment. I cannot recommend enough! (Wi-Fi was also strong enough for me to work from home one of the days).
Fantastic farmhouse in a tranquil setting

Multiple seating areas mean you've always the choice to sit in the shade during the heat of the day. The house is set in the hills and must be one of the most peaceful locations I've had the pleasure of staying at. Highly recommend.

Beauty and rest (plus a swimming pool!)

Be it the warm stone of the old farmhouse and surrounding buildings, the roses, the multiple different terraces for different times of day, the open view to walnut orchards, the loving renovation with open timberwork, comfy sofa's and lovely textiles. And there is space, meaning two families could happily holiday together. The kitchen is well equipped. Given the warm weather we also greatly enjoyed the pool. Thank you!
