Lovely Gite in peaceful surroundings for our family of 5.
By Kaamil Garnie on 23-May-2026The property Itself The property is full of character but clearly well maintained and modernised where it needs to be. Rooms are large and made to feel homely. Bathrooms and kitchen are well proportioned, modern and fully equipped. Very clean upon arrival and both bath and swimming towels provided. Great for those travelling light. Superb internet with English speaking channels on the telly. (Not that we watched much TV!) Outside is beautiful. Large garden with trees, shrubs and a large enough area for a kickabout. The swimming pool was the star of the show. Single depth pool which was fine for us all. From a 6 year old learning to swim to the adults. Lots of poolside loungers and inflatables to keep us all happy. Don’t forget the chickens! Fresh eggs daily which the kids loved. The area It’s pretty rural, but beautiful. Perfect for a quiet, relaxing break away. No neighbours overlooking you. You’ll need a car. There is a bakery close by, which we ran two a couple of times, and another village close by. Good few miles to walk though. Supermarkets are all a 10-15 min drive away. Lots to do and explore in the surrounding areas. Lots of lovely towns and villages with things to see and do and places to eat. Our favourites were Brantome and St Jean de Cole. Beautiful village! The hosts Sally and Steve are both really friendly and welcoming. Really easy to speak to and on hand to assist without being overbearing. Easily contactable during our stay and communicated really well from initial enquiry to post holiday. We were made to feel very welcome and they even went the extra mile for my son. (If I hear anymore about a German Shepherd!!) I’m really pleased we made the last minute decision to visit. I would have no hesitation recommending this lovely property to anyone wishing to explore the area nor would I have any issues recommending the hosts. All in all a lovely holiday that passed seamlessly. Thank you Steve and Sally!
Peaceful and rejuvenating
By Mal & Meg Burden on 16-Aug-2025We had an excellent week at Steve and Sally's Gite. The Gite itself is in a lovely and scenic part of Dordogne with panoramic views over the fields and lovely sunsets. The gite itself is fantastic - great outdoor space and pool and the interior is spacious and has everything you need for a great week. There are lovely walks and trails for running and cycling on the doorstep. It's also easy to get all the main points of interest around the area. Steve and Sally were excellent hosts, they were always on hand to answer questions and help out when needed. We had a thoroughly relaxing week and we would love to return to this peaceful and tranquil part of the world.
Superb family holiday home with fabulous pool.
By Nicky Morgan on 09-Aug-2025The cottage was absolutely immaculate. Furnishings are very good quality and everything is provided, especially in the kitchen. The WiFi is good and the property and gardens are so well maintained. The pool is fabulous and the owners clean it every morning and provide sunloungers, cushions and towels. The views are breathtaking and our holiday was very relaxing. The owners are very helpful and have put together a guide of the area with restaurant, supermarket and attraction recommendations. I honestly have nothing negative to say, it’s the best self catering accommodation we have ever stayed in.

Beautifully quiet setting surrounded by fields .
By Helen on 07-Jun-2025La retraite lives up to its name. The Cottage itself was a charming mix of old French with modern conveniences. Clean, comfortable and characterful. Comfy beds and lovely linens. Set in the quiet countryside yet only 15 mins to nearest super u and fuel. A great base to explore the Perigord vert with many restaurants to choose from a short drive away. Lovely to have such a lovely dog friendly cottage in such a beautiful spot. The heated pool was well used and kept well tended by Steve the owner. Sally and Steve met us on arrival and were very welcoming. Their thoughtful welcome of goodies were also well received. A beautiful cottage and we would love to return .
