Description
La Grange is a beautiful, six bedroom home nestling in a quiet valley near the market towns of Magnac Laval, Limoges and Poitiers in this wonderful region of the Haute-Vienne. Dating back to the 18th Century and originally the Coach House to the neighbouring Chateau, with it's exposed beams and well trodden stairs, La Grange wraps you into it's embrace. Although many of it's original features have been retained, we offer our guests all "mod cons" including a new super swish dining kitchen, an eco-friendly wood fired hot tub and good wifi.... There are 3 bedrooms in the "old side" of the house, with a further 3 bedrooms in the "new side). The spacious living room is reminiscent of an old hunting lodge and is perfect for an afternoon snooze with a book.To the front of the house are the well-tended Mediterranean gardens with a good size private fenced swimming pool which can be heated upon request at an extra cost (which depends on the season - check with us). To the rear of the house are extensive lawned areas which are perfect for kicking a ball around or just lazing under one of the gnarled old trees. Use one of our complimentary bikes to ride into Magnac Laval for your morning croissants..............although La Grange is in a lovely quiet area, there is much to explore.........head to the local towns for weekly markets, restaurants and cafés; for more adventurous days drive 30 minutes to the sandy beaches of Lac St. Pardoux for water-skiing, canoeing, fishing and woodland walks.
Work up an appetite before heading home for your alfresco dinner under the setting sun. Perfection!

It was a wonderful week
By Angela Boom on 31-Jul-2026It was a wonderful week. There were 7 adults and three small children in our group. Enjoyed the swimming pool and the garden. The house is beautiful and distinctive; the kitchen was very well equipped John and Fiona gave us a very warm welcome, with some great ideas too, such as the farmers' market in La Dorat, which was a real experience.
We really enjoyed our holiday

The house has good privacy and local amenities just a short drive away. There is plenty of space inside and outside to socialise, relax, and have fun. We were particularly thankful for the pool and multiple shaded spaces given the heatwave! Thank you!

Pool was especially enjoyed by the grandchildren (ages 3-10). Car essential - local facilities in Magnac-Laval are about 15 minutes drive. Bellac, the nearest larger town, is about 25 minutes by car. We stayed during a heatwave - the downstairs living spaces of the house stayed remarkably cool.

The kitchen is ideal for eating in large numbers and preparing meals with the family. The piano is great for cooks like us. Young and old enjoyed the garden games as well as the pool (very safe) and the jacuzzi. Very good welcome and advice from John and Fiona. It was perfect.
