Super apartment in an excellent location in the lovely town of Duras
By Amanda on 22-May-2026My husband and I stayed in Maison Jauffret for a very enjoyable week of cycling around Duras (many hills with great views of the countryside, vineyards, and the well known plums of the region, and lovely towns and villages). The spacious 2-bedroomed apartment was just the ticket for us, with space downstairs to keep our bikes securely , and a great washing machine for quick washes of cycling clothes ! The apartment has been recently renovated to a good standard, retaining the beautiful features of the old building inside and out. The facilities in the apartment are good, including excellent Wifi, a good sized fridge-freezer and a well-equipped kitchen area. Both bedrooms are pleasant, roomy and provide good storage and hanging space – a queen sized double bed in each bedroom, one with a. firm mattress and the other with a medium to soft mattress. The footbed on one of the beds mentioned in a previous review has been removed, so both beds are suitable for tall people. The bathroom is a good size and has good cupboard space, a very good shower, and good quality and good sized towels. The central but quiet location is superb. Duras is a splendid, compact, friendly and active little town. Maison Jauffret is very close to all the amenities, restaurants, cafe/pubs, boulangerie, shops and the Carrefour supermarket. And to top it all, the hostess is very attentive and personable, with a high standard of customer service and communication. The Simply Owners holiday property listing site is excellent.

By Chris on 04-Oct-2025Positive Location was superb, right in the centre. Lots of space in all rooms and comfy sofa. Shower was hot and had good pressure. Quiet location. Easy check in. Will stay again! Negatives Mattress was a little hard. The other bed had a footboard, which being tall was no good for us. We would've like a couple of tea bags, a small bottle of milk and coffee pods, just to see us through the couple of nights. They are in the final stages of renovating, so the apartment felt sparse, but i am sure they will be more homely once they finish. Host Response Excellent feedback. Thank you. I deliberately have a soft and a hard mattress to accommodate different tastes but I never gave a thought to how the footboard will affect tall people. I am very pleased you enjoyed your stay and would consider staying here again.
