Le Chai is a charming, traditional stone building; it provides a cool, clean and modern interior within a traditional stone building. Although the building is set in a very PEACEFUL location with PANORAMIC VIEWS of the French countryside it is only a 10 MINUTE drive to reach SUPERMSRKETS, BARS and RESTAURANTS.
With an open covered veranda, shaded by trees, overlooking the French countryside (southwest facing) Le Chai is an ideal setting for enjoying the simple French outdoor lifestyle; eating local produce, reading, playing outdoor games (equipment provided) or relaxing in the sunshine. The beautifully maintained gardens (over 2 acres) provide plenty of space for play (Boules, badminton, football) and quiet shade for those who want to read and relax out of the sun.
The clean water mineral pool has very low salt or chlorine levels which is great for those with sensitive skin or eyes. The pool is 10m long and gets gradually deeper as you walk into it the water. The pool is checked daily and cleaned as required.
Swimming pool loungers and towels are included. The pool is very popular with children, both teenagers and young, it is a place of laughter and fun. The safety ledge which runs around the entire edge of the pool is ideal for younger or less confident swimmers.
The pool is heated using solar panels, not an electric pump, it generally runs at 28/29 degrees but we can turn the heating off for guests.
The pool is enclosed by a fence with a safety gate which you can lock.
There is a large barn for indoor table tennis and for storing your top boxes or bikes. The area is ideal for a cycling holiday. It is also an ideal enclosed area for young children to play quietly in the cool - right near the kitchen door.
A 'SMART' TV allows you to watch a range of UK Freesat channels. FREE Wi-Fi is available throughout the property via HIGH SPEED FIBRE BROAD BAND. 4G access is good. French channels are also available.
THE KITCHEN is excellently equipped
With 2 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms in the main house split across both floors there can be a 'natural' split in the accommodation giving space for friends and family holidaying together or for extended families; perhaps as grandparents, parents and grandchildren; the downstairs bedroom being ideal for those not wishing to climb the stairs and is popular with couples wanting to live on one level.
ALL bedrooms have DAYLIGHT BLINDS and are very quiet/ ALL windows have INSECT BLINDS. We use HOTEL quality bedding. No need to pack hairdryers as we provide hairdryers in all rooms. Bedroom 1 downstairs has a LARGE king-sized bed (1600mm/ 5' 4") and its own separate shower room with WC and sink. A door opening onto the garden provides beautiful views across the countryside. Ample space for a cot. The 2 double sized upstairs bedrooms are continental style - 4 single beds allowing for changes to configuration. In bedroom 2 a double or a super king can be available on request. ALL the bedrooms have FANS although the combination of stone walls and breeze through the upstairs windows usually keeps the Chai cool as long as guests keep blinds and windows shut during the day. BATHROOMS include shaving mirrors and PowerPoints and bath sheet sized towels. BIO cleaning products and shower products provided.
We welcome children to the property and there is lots of space to run and play. We provide a range of equipment including stair gates, travel cot and plastic cups and plates. If you have any questions please ask.

Wonderful holiday
By Rebecca on 08-Aug-2026Myself, husband and 18 year old daughter spent a lovely week at La Realle. Rachel and Bev were friendly hosts, and provided great advice on the local area and were happy to help with any requests (even providing a tyre pump on our last morning!). Lovely pool, cool interior to the house and a beautiful rural setting, surrounded by sunflower seeds. One of my highlights was seeing a hoopoe bird in the garden!
An oasis of peace

The garden is beautiful (albeit pretty parched when we were there!) and we happily spent many hours sat on the verandah - enjoying the local rosé of course - watching the kids run around the garden. The light at sunset was spectacular across the sunflower fields. The pool was great - really refreshing during the heatwave. We all had lots of fun. The gite itself had everything you could need and the kids enjoyed playing table tennis in the barn. The beds were comfortable too! Don't miss the Duras night market, but get there early if you want to get a table. Thank you Rachel and Bev for being so accommodating. We had a wonderful time with you.
Lovely Gite
By Chris on 25-Jul-2026I booked this gite as the photographs on the website looked wonderful. The place is actually even better in real life. We had a week there with our daughter and two grandchildren 7 and 11. They loved the gardens and of course the wonderful, clean pool, this was a lovely area to sit and look out over the fields. The gite inside was much larger than the photos show. It was also wonderfully cool even at the very high temperatures. The barn was also very good. It had a table tennis table which again the children enjoyed. The covered terrace with views over the fields is just lovely and was great to have the shade so you could sit out during the day and at night. Everywhere was easy to get to and we enjoyed the morning trip to the village to buy the croissants. Our hosts, Bev and Rachel, were so helpful with anything we needed to know. It was a wonderful and relaxing stay enjoyed by all members of our party. The location is idyllic.
Beautiful and convenient location, spacious & well-equipped gite.
By Jan on 18-Jul-2026Our family of 4, two adults and two teens, enjoyed this gite for a week in July 2026. There was plenty of space for everyone, the boys had a room each, the grounds were very spacious and we loved the fact that parts of the meadow were left for the orchids, insects and other flowers. The pool was lovely, and well maintained, with plenty of loungers, seats, umbrellas and pool toys. The kitchen was well equipped. The whole house was very clean and tidy. It was great to have plenty of pool and shower towels, as well as the washing machine. We borrowed the two bikes several times to cycle the 10mins to the village boulangerie & small shop. We loved the terrace and ate all our meals outside. We went to the market in Duras, and new small market in Levignac on the Sunday morning, and the two night markets in Duras and Levignac. We all enjoyed the Parc du Griffon 10mins down the road, which has some farm animals, birds and a water park, including a very cool tyre toboggan run, great for a hot day. It was only 20mins to the city of Marmande, with its larger shops and the river. We thoroughly enjoyed the Son et lumiere show in Chateau Duras. The owners live attached to the gite, but were very discreet and although I admit I was a little anxious about this on arrival, in terms of wanting to be private and undisturbed as well as not wanting to be conscious of our noise etc, the gite still felt private. The grounds and pool are for private use, apart from a small corner where the owners grow vegetables. We were offered plenty of fresh plums, which were delicious, thank you! The owners were very responsive and helped with our enquiries promptly. This whole area is beautiful for its landscape, low-intensity farming, excellent wildlife, whilst being not far away from everything you might need. We would highly recommend this gite and thank you Rachel and Bev for your help and for sharing your beautiful place.
Tranquility

It is well appointed, has a shady terrace, perfect for very hot days, and a super swimming pool, and within easy reach of picturesque towns and villages and lots of typically French markets. Rachel and Bev are the perfect hosts, happy to give help and advice when needed but also happy to leave you to enjoy your holiday. Thank you both, we look forward to coming back.
La Realle levignac du guyenne. A good holiday
By Selina Horncastle on 25-Aug-2025La realle is a goog property with large downstairs rooms,well equipped and clean. The bedrooms and bathrooms are also good with comfortable beds and great linen. The pool was excellent with good views and kept spotlessly clean everyday. The view from terrace is totally unspoilt and we saw several species of birds and deer. Rachel and Bev were helpful all the way through the process of booking,arriving and when we were there. The location is great and the area around is interesting with plenty of places to visit.
