Description
Seeking a chilled-out getaway? Then look no further than Petit Bernadis, a little haven of tranquility within walking distance of the historic hilltop bastide village of Monflanquin, one of France’s "plus beaux villages”. Petit Bernadis sits within the grounds of Bernadis (where your hosts, Clare and Damon live), at the end of a no-through road. The accommodation has been recently renovated, retaining the charm of the original building with a contemporary twist, and comprises an open plan modern living/dining/kitchen area, separate double bedroom and private terrace with access to a large pool, sunbathing terrace and covered summer kitchen.For the more active minded there are lovely country walks, accessible from the property, and electric bikes are available on site should you wish to explore further afield. Enjoy a range of restaurants and bars in Monflanquin, where the village comes alive with its weekly summer night markets and annual medieval festival (mid August) with parades, entertainment and period costume. Why not explore some of our delightful neighbouring bastide villages, including Villereal, Monpazier and Pujols? Or venture a little further and take a boat trip/kayak along the beautiful Dordogne or discover the many vineyards dotted around our beautiful area.
We are 5 mins drive away from a large Auchan supermarket (open 7 days a week) and 45 mins away from Bergerac Airport (pick up/drop off can be arranged for an additional charge). Toulouse and Bordeaux Airports are within a couple of hours’ drive and, from Calais, Roscoff or Cherbourg, it’s a 9 hour drive.

A haven of relaxation
By Ray on 16-Aug-2026Upon our arrival, we were warmly greeted by Damon and Claire, who gave us a tour of our gîte and the beautiful surrounding grounds. The property is exceptionally well equipped and wonderfully cosy. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the secluded, peaceful bedroom created the perfect atmosphere for a wonderfully restful night’s sleep. This is the perfect retreat for anyone looking to completely escape the pace and busyness of city life. A truly peaceful and relaxing haven in the South of France.
Lovely holiday
By Edd on 31-Jul-2026Clare and Damon welcome you like old friends at their lovely holiday gite. We had a great time and the location is brilliant for exploring all the beautiful beaux villages. The gite is thoughtfully eqipped and has all the essentials you could need. The pool is relaxing and a perfect size - on several days we had it to ourselves! Clare and Damon are also on hand with any questions and very helpful with tips on where to visit. We ran out of time in the end to see everything! Highly recommend if you're looking for a quiet retreat for a single person or couple.

As we are only two of us we chose Petit Bernadis this time . Everything was ideal - perfect for two people with all needs provided. Pool close by with sitting and eating out area nice with a high level of privacy . We will be coming back to Petit Bernadis hopefully next year . As usual Damon and Clare couldn’t do enough for us. By Sharon and James on 10-Jun-2026Well, what can we say! Our second visit to this beautiful gite hidden in such a tranquil spot yet only 10/15mins walk into the quaint market town of Monflanquin. Damon and Clare welcomed us like old friends, such a lovely caring couple who will do anything to make your stay perfect. If you want to chill and relax, this is the place to come. The gite is clean and pretty. You are in the heart of the most stunning countryside with walks close by and pretty towns and Chateau's to visit, plenty to see and do. We would definitely have no hesitation in recommending this place to anyone. It's 40 mins from the airport. An easy drive if you are worried about driving on the right, there's very little traffic to worry about. We could come back in a heartbeat. Xx

Lovely week in a beautiful and peaceful part of France
By Alastair and Stephanie on 23-Aug-2025We had a lovely week at the quirky but comfortable Petit Bernadis. Lovely to have a great outdoor area by the house and the pool is superb. The gite is close to the beautiful bastide Monflanquin, which is a real joy – history, authenticity, amazing views, good restaurants and cafes, lovely shops, and very friendly people – and the wider area is full of places to visit (Monpazier, Chateau de Biron, Issigeac, Villeareal, and plenty more). All in all, a beautiful and peaceful part of France. Special mention for our hosts, Clare and Damon, who made us very welcome and ensured everything was going well.
