Guests are also welcome to use our outdoor table tennis, badminton and darts! Enjoy a range of restaurants and bars in Monflanquin, where the village comes alive with its weekly summer night markets and annual medieval festival (mid August) with parades, entertainment and period costume. Why not explore some of our delightful neighbouring bastide villages, including Villereal, Monpazier and Pujols? Or venture a little further and take a boat trip/kayak along the beautiful Dordogne or discover the many vineyards dotted around our beautiful area.

Perfect in every way!
By Fiona Higney on 10-Aug-2026We spent a week in this wonderful gite. The ‘summer kitchen’ was unique and joyous - it’s natural stone walls and wooden slats opening out to the lawned and white gravelled areas made us feel like we could be in a rural retreat - a beautiful relaxing space to be in. The kids were kept entertained with the great ‘games shack’ adjacent and of course the wonderful pool with covered shaded area and great sun beds. The whole gite was simply yet tastefully decorated and the beds were comfortable. We cycled to Villa Real for lunch one day on the fab electric bikes which took around an hour each way - lovely scenery and very enjoyable if a bit long in the heat that day, but a lovely addition to have use of the bikes with due notice. Montflanquin is as beautiful as claimed and we loved the spectacular annual medieval festival and weekly night market. Damon and Clare were the perfect hosts - helpful and communicative yet respectful of our privacy. We really hope to return one day! Thank you so much Damon and Clare!
Charming Gite, Quiet Location, Relaxing Stay
By Osborne family on 27-Jul-2026We had a great experience from the start as Damon and Claire were flexible and accommodated our 10 days break request during peak season. Hosts are present if needed but mindful of everyone's space and privacy. Gite is well presented and everything works . We stayed during the extreme heat of this summer and throughly enjoyed days by the lovely pool, which is perfectly maintained. Note for those with travelling with Teens - the WIFI and connectivity was second to none. Thanks we hope to return one day.
A perfect stay with friends.
By Suzanne Dolphin on 12-Jul-2026Wow what a fantastic place! We had a wonderful stay. The accommodation was beautiful, comfortable and in a lovely quiet location. The pool was fantastic and the facilities were excellent. The nearby village was charming and had everything we wanted close by, including some fantastic restaurants and a vibrant night market. Clare and Damon were wonderful hosts . Nothing was too much trouble and they were always around to help if we had any questions, while giving us plenty of privacy. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and would love to visit again.
Return visit
By Tania & John Tooth on 28-Jun-2026Having stayed in Petit Bernadis previously we enjoyed the extra space in Bernadis this year. Yet again everything you could wish for had been thoughtfully provided. The property is spacious and the outdoor kitchen is outstanding providing the perfect mix of indoor/outdoor eating. Clare and Damon are the perfect hosts and whilst they are on site there are never intrusive but always available when needed. Clare & Damon are always happy to arrange restaurants and provide advice on the best locations to visit. Altogether the perfect holiday. We will return
Lovely relaxing place to stay near pretty bastide Town of Monflanquin.
By Joy Honeyball on 06-Jun-2026The Gite was a very relaxing place to stay. Super location in a quiet country spot, but within a couple of minutes drive from the bastide town of Monflanquin with shops and restaurants and a well stocked supermarket. We were very comfortable in the bedrooms which were equipped with insect screens on the windows so you could leave them open at night and fans in each room if needed. Bathrooms were fit out very nice with good showers and the en suite had the shower over a bath. We also liked the inside/outdoor kitchen which was very nice to dine in on an evening, especially when you pulled the screens back to look out on the field and garden area. The private sitting out area was nice and the shared pool area also very nice and the pool was very clean and well kept. Clare and Damon were on hand if you needed them for help with anything, but also were very mindful of your privacy. It is somewhere we would love to come back to if coming to that area again. It felt very homely and the decor and fittings were very tastefully done.
A hidden gem.
By Paul & Esther on 17-Aug-2025We have just spent nearly four weeks at the Gite of Damon & Clare just a short way outside of the beautiful old village of Monflanquin in South West France voted one of the most beautiful villages of France and with fair reason. The position of the Gite is just right and very peaceful with lovely surroundings gardens. The Gite was marvelous and so well equipped for all holiday needs. The pool was of great benefit and very well kept and maintained daily by Damon and the weather was just as we like it not too hot nor too cold. The electric bikes that are supplied when renting the Gite are a very nice touch and l was able to go for some super rides each day exploring the beautiful area. Damon & Clare are great hosts and always available for local advice should one need it. They are so lucky to be living in this area - it is a real paradise. The night markets in summer are probably our favorite way to pass the evening with a nice bottle of wine and a local meal of one’s choice sitting outside in the warm evening air . There are so many of these in the area that one is spoilt for choice on most evenings of the week. A couple of our favorites apart from Monflanquin are Gavaudin on a Sunday night and Salles on a Wednesday night just a short drive outside of Monflanquin .There are also many good restaurants in the old village of Monflanquin but if one wants to go further afield there are several charming old villages most within a 20 to 40 minute drive on very quiet country roads. We have already booked to come back to Damon & Clare and their fabulous property for next summer and can’t wait. Thank you both for a very enjoyable holiday and we hope many more to come. Paul & Esther from Jersey, Channel Islands.
