Farmhouse/villa near Ceret, Pyrenees-Orientales, Languedoc-Roussillon - Peaceful Location Set In 100 Acres Of Private Forest With Magnificent ViewsSituated in the foothills of the Pyrenees mountains in the village of Oms near the medieval market village of Ceret which has many bars and restaurants and is also well known for its art museum. Influenced by many famous artists such as Monet, Van Gogh and Matisse who all found inspiration in the surrounding countryside. Wonderful walks and magnificent views. 40 minutes to long wide safe Argeles beaches.
A true "getaway from it all" holiday location, yet still 4 mins from the village of oms which provides for day to day needs and has a bar/restaurant. 20 mins from Ceret with all its conveniences.
Tranquillity and privacy are assured as well as lots of space both inside and out. One big house ideal for big groups or multiple families with 2 separate tv/lounges and a great outdoor shaded dining table which easily seats 20 people!
All beds have quality mattresses, all linen and towels are included are white hotel quality and professionally laundered ( pool towels also )
Air conditioning : currently only in bedrooms 1 & 2 otherwise there are either electric floor or ceiling fans in all other bedrooms.
Outside: The grounds themselves are extensive with plenty of scope for walking, hiking, mountain biking etc. Garden space is ample, with plenty of room for kids to run and play. Large poolside terrace with 4m x 4m pergola leading to a games room. Plenty of garden chairs available. High quality Sun loungers. A huge heated swimming pool (surrounded by security fencing) which measures 12.40m x 6.30m (0.8m to 2.4m deep) even at capacity you won't feel cramped.. Several large parasols are also available for shade.
The games room has a full size ping-pong table, pool table, dart board, exercise bike, eliptic treadmil machine (should you really wish to exercise on holiday) and a full size basketball hoop. There is also a toddlers slide and springy toy! see photos on website.
The property is very private and not at all overlooked for ultimate privacy.
Utility Room: Very spacious laundry room, Spare freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board. Baby High chairs and booster seats available. Also various baby equipment...stroller, pram, bath etc...ask for details beforehand.
Cleaning : The inside of the property is cleaned to a high standard prior to arrival. However being a self catered property, it is the responsibility of the client to leave exterior of the property as found. (see website for terms and conditions)

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The perfect family holiday
By Julian M. on 16-Aug-2026We have just returned from a wonderful week at Domaine La Palmere, staying from 16th to 23rd August with our family of 14 – grandparents, children and grandchildren – and could not have chosen a better place for a family holiday. The villa is huge, beautifully maintained and incredibly well equipped. There was plenty of space for everyone, with areas for children to play, adults to socialise and quiet corners for peace. Despite being 14 of us, nobody felt crowded. The enormous pool was the star of the show! The younger children loved the shallow end while the older ones and adults enjoyed the deeper section. It was in constant use, and the grandchildren were rarely out of the water. The pool area felt like our own private resort, with table tennis, pool, darts, basketball and more. Even the adults became competitive! We particularly loved the large outdoor dining area. The huge table became the centre of our family gatherings, with long lunches, BBQs, drinks, laughter and memorable dinners. The peaceful, private woodland setting was perfect. Being away from neighbours meant the children could enjoy themselves freely, while Céret, the coast and surrounding villages are close enough for days out. A special mention must go to Rob, the owner. He was exceptionally welcoming, friendly and helpful. He clearly takes great pride in the property and genuinely wants his guests to have a fantastic experience. He was always available and incredibly responsive whenever we needed anything, yet never intrusive. Seeing our children and grandchildren enjoying themselves together was the real highlight. Finding a place where 14 family members can spend a week together and enjoy quality time is rare. We arrived hoping for a great holiday and left with memories we will treasure. For a beautiful, spacious and private place for a large family or group, we couldn't recommend Domaine La Palmere highly enough. Five stars without hesitation – we'll be back!
Fabulous July break for all ages
By Hadingham family on 19-Jul-2026We had a wonderful week (mid-July 2026) at Domaine La Palmere. We had 3 generations in the group and I think its fair to say that all ages enjoyed the villa and its facilities. Of course the pool and pool area were the main focus, especially for the the grandsons. I read in a previous review that kids would be free to make as much noise as they like because there was no one close to hear...and trust me, they tested that concept hard and it was true enough. The pool and all the facilities in the safely enclosed pool area (basketball, table tennis, darts, pool table etc), plus a large number of sunbeds meant that everyone was kept happy...be active, or chill, its up to you. The pool itself is very large and yet shallow enough at one end for little children and plenty deep enough for diving at the other. The villa was spacious and comfortable throughout and the outside dinning facilities really make it a true family bonding experience. The views of the surrounding valley and its thick forest are incredible , especially in the early morning and evening as the light changes. We had our dog with us and he really enjoyed our walks along the numerous paths and tracks that wind their way over the hills. All in all we had a quality relaxing family time, in a beautiful location, and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. The grandkids are still raving about it all...say no more.
Two weeks in August
By The Scullions and the Deanes on 02-Aug-2026We’ve just returned from two very hot weeks in the south of France, staying at Domaine la Palmere, near Oms. As a three-generation family of 14 – 8 adults and 6 children – we found the villa was perfect for our needs. Plenty of space, both inside and out, with the main attraction being the wonderful swimming pool, which was used constantly. We also made good use of the pool table, gym equipment and table tennis. The bedrooms and bathrooms were comfortable and well-appointed, and the children enjoyed the endless film choices on the TV in the main lounge. As a family of foodies, we cooked for ourselves each night, ranging from simple, homemade pizzas; a Mexican inspired feast and a delicious paella; with several BBQs in between. The kitchen is very well equipped and meals were enjoyed ‘en famille’ at the long table outside. Although the property is remote, with a long and winding driveway, we enjoyed the seclusion it provided, as well as the wide variety of wildlife that we saw and heard. All in all, it was a wonderful holiday, enjoyed by everyone and we’d love to be able to return one day.
A relaxing break and a change of scenery

For those looking for a complete escape and tranquility, it's perfect. The house is very large and well equipped, ideal for watching TV or taking a nap, taking a dip in the pool, or playing a game of ping pong or pool. We used the barbecue every day and the kitchen is well equipped. The three floors provide privacy when there are a lot of people. The laundry room is very convenient with a washing machine and dryer. There are lots of activities nearby, including the sea at Argelès, lakes and mountains not far away, and several tourist attractions. For shopping, the towns of Céret and Le Boulou are the closest. Robert is very welcoming and attentive to our requests. Thank you again for this stay in your villa.

Truly fabulous stay
By Anna Kidd on 03-Aug-2025We’ve just returned from a really fantastic week in Domaine La Palmere, Oms. We were a multigenerational family group of 9 people ranging in age from 12-62. The property was very spacious and comfortable, with enough room and privacy for all the different ages. The pool was fantastic, large enough for swimming and all the mucking around teenagers can think up. The house is set in beautiful woodland, full of cork trees (!) and oak as well as moss and lichens. A real nature lovers haven. We walked in to Oms village from the house, to eat in the lovely small restaurant there. The owner Rob was very helpful, recommending places to eat and visit. The drive down to Ceret to the museum of modern art and the street market was a real highlight and so easy. Overall we felt the house was in a great location, near enough to the sea if you wanted to have a beach trip, but also surrounded by medieval hilltop villages and being higher up was cooler, which was very welcome at times. Returning to that amazing pool and the woodland calmness after a day of sight seeing was just fabulous. We had a really lovely experience (which isn’t always the case with big family groups!). Heaven. Will be booking again.

Spacious family accommodation close to mountains and sea
By Andrew on 20-Jul-2025Four families, three generations all had a wonderful time. The pool was a great hit with everyone, especially as the weather was so warm ! Property very secluded, and comfortable perfect for a carefree holiday, The owner was very kind and helpful, couldn’t wish for more.
