Description
La Fleureau stands in an elevated position (275m) with panoramic views of the Pyrenees and Black Mountains. It is surrounded by rolling countryside and known locally as 'little Tuscany'. Located in the 'pays de cocagne' (land of milk and honey, or should we say, red wine and duck!!!), 45 mins from Toulouse airport and 1 hour from Carcassonne, La Fleureau offers the perfect location for a peaceful, relaxing holiday. The Gite, which has been classified 4* by the French tourist board, is of the highest standard combining traditional style with modern comforts and is for your exclusive use. There are two private terraces, one with a stone-built barbecue, and garden. The accommodation has been recently restored using quality fittings throughout, retaining original stone walls. Oak flooring, doors and staircases have been added..
The floodlit swimming pool (7.5m x 12m), with wide steps for ease of entry, has recently been upgraded. Adjacent to the swimming pool you will find an outside shower, a sandy beach and decking area together with seating and sun loungers. There is a shaded pool bar offering a fridge/freezer, ice machine, microwave and tea and coffee facilities. Next to this you will find a table and chairs to enjoy your drinks and meals 'al fresco'. The whole area is set in gardens with lawns, established shrubs and palm trees. The Japanese garden offers strolling, meditation, yoga and Pilates areas. This all provides a superb, tranquil setting with breathtaking views over the valley towards the Pyrenean mountains.
The Gite offers three spacious bedrooms, two with a double bed 1.5m wide and one with twin beds. Both have fully sprung mattresses and crisp cotton linen. Bathroom 1 has a bath, shower, twin wash hand basins and WC. Bathroom 2 has a bath, walk-in shower, twin wash hand basins and WC. Bathroom 3 has a shower, single hand basin and WC. Towels, for all bathrooms and swimming pool together with hair dryers, are provided. A reading and games area can be found on the mezzanine level. Air conditioning is provided for your added comfort.
The fully-fitted kitchen is open plan with a breakfast bar and table and chairs. There is a utility room with washing machine and drying area. The lounge has comfortable seating for six with satellite English and French TV. Fiber internet/WiFi is available, free of charge, throughout the Gite / pool area. Smoke detectors, fire extinguisher and blanket are fitted. There is secured covered parking.
The local towns of Albi, Gaillac and Cordes together with the wine growing areas, are all within easy reach. The historic, pretty town of Lavaur is a 10 mins drive and the nearest town for shopping. It is particularly worth visiting on market days.
The entire property is non-smoking and only suitable for children over 14 years. The English owners live in the main house together with a very laid back Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. French and Spanish are also spoken. La Fleureau can also be found on D12 between road marking signs 41 and 42 or using "what3words": ridges.vouchers.washes

A Truly Special Stay in the South of France
By julian mustow on 12-Aug-2026We stayed at Gîte One for a week in August 2026 and, as a family of five with two autistic sons, getting the accommodation right is crucial to having a happy and relaxing holiday. Ian and Carol have created somewhere that goes far beyond the usual holiday let. Many holiday accommodations can leave you with the feeling that you are simply part of a for-profit transaction, with a rather Spartan or utilitarian level of provision. While not everyone wants to cook on holiday, for our family it is a must, and many previous stays have been coloured by barely adequate kitchen facilities. Gîte One is very different. Ian and Carol offer you what feels like a literal extension of their home: a place they have lovingly developed over decades, transforming an old farmstead into an idyllic retreat, filled with beautiful touches inspired by their travels. Gîte One is incredibly spacious, with three bedrooms and three bathrooms, providing plenty of room for family time as well as that all-important opportunity to have some space and quiet when needed. The finish throughout is exceptional, with local artisan craftsmen clearly having taken great pride in their work. The joinery around the central staircase is a particular highlight and speaks volumes about the quality and attention to detail. And it really is the little things that make such a difference. Everything has been thoughtfully considered to make your stay as comfortable and stress-free as possible. The bedding is sumptuous and extremely comfortable, while the spacious kitchen is superbly equipped with a comprehensive range of utensils and all the modern appliances you could wish for. Ian and Carol also provide those essentials that make settling in so much easier: olive oil, seasonings, a selection of teas and quality coffee. But saving the best until last: the pool and gardens. The photographs really don't do them justice. The old farmhouse sits in an elevated position, giving you a breathtaking panoramic view acros
La Fleureau Holiday July 26
By Sandra Grogan on 05-Jul-2026La Fleureau holiday Over the last 17 years we have been back to La Fleureau many times from weekend breaks to ten day stays and it never ceases to amaze us. It is constantly evolving and each time you visit there is a new feature, this year being no exception. A stunning beach area has been constructed, complete with soft sand, deck chairs, straw umbrella plus a beautifully restored old wooden boat. Also a private decked seating area for Gite two (the smaller Gite, that sleeps two) with the most amazing views. Our booking was for Gite one which sleeps six, this large airy Gite is spotlessly clean, beautifully appointed with the most comfortable beds. The pool and pool area are stunning as are the grounds with a view to die for. Ian and Carol are wonderful hosts with the most amazing vision. They work hard to make every visit memorable, always on hand but without being intrusive. Our adult children and their partners who had not visited before said their stay was simply the best and they cannot wait to visit again. It’s a really laid back holiday where you can destress and totally relax. We have traveled a lot and this accommodation is outstanding, one of the best. Thank you Ian & Carol for the most memorable stay we are looking forward to our next visit.
You will not be disappointed.
By Sarah & Gary on 18-Jul-2026From the moment we arrived we felt at home and relaxed, we have stayed in France many times and this has to be one of the best properties we’ve ever stayed in. Everything has been thought out with your comfort in mind. Ian and Carol are a lovely couple who welcome you like family, they obviously have very good taste and we loved all the little touches. This is 5 star level but still cosy and comfortable. Ian and Carol are on hand for anything you need but also with the balance of leaving you in peace. The air conditioning was very welcome and worked wonderfully to keep us cool. The layout was great as our son and his girlfriend had upstairs and we had downstairs so had our own spaces. The ice machine at the pool bar was also very welcome. There is nothing we could fault.
A wonderful week in a beautiful gite
By Celia & Geraint on 08-Jun-2026We booked early in the year for a June holiday and the whole process was very straightforward. Communication with the owners Carol and Ian was excellent and their directions to the gite were very useful and more direct than Google. Carol and Ian were lovely hosts, generous and friendly, and made us very welcome throughout our stay. They were accommodating about arrival time and gave us a tour of the property on arrival. The gite is spacious, with 3 good sized bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and plenty of room for we 5 adults. It was very hot during our stay yet the house stayed cool. This is one of the best equipped gites we’ve stayed in and a good deal of thought has been put into the needs of the holiday makers. It feels like a home rather than a temporary stop. The grounds surrounding the gite are extensive and attractive with a large shaded and wooded area designed with a Japanese influence. The pool is a very good size and was so welcome in the heat. Alongside the pool is a really nice bar building, again very well equipped. One of our party is an enthusiastic birder and he was in his element with the variety of birds in the property and surrounding area. The gite is out in the country yet is not far from Lavaur, with Gaillac, Castres and Albi easily reachable. Only 40 minutes or so to Toulouse, which is a lovely city. Further afield but not too far is Cordes-sur-Ciel, always worth a visit. All in all, we had a wonderful week’s holiday in Le Fleureau and we recommend it very highly.

Back again and even better...
By Paul, Suzanne and the boys on 22-Jul-2025We stayed in La Fleureau in 2023 and loved it. We visited again in 2025 and loved it even more! The location is fantastic and the experiences within an hour or so's drive are endless. We still have so much to see. There really is the best of France on your doorstep if you want it. As for the gite, everything, including Ian and Carol's hospitality, makes for a place to truly relax when you aren't visiting some of the fantastic towns in the area. The gite itself is well equipped with plenty of space inside and out and everything to make your stay comfortable has been thought of. The pool area is spacious and chilled and how many places include your own private bar to stock and use?! Lavaur, the closest town, is within easy reach having everything you need such as supermarkets, shopping, a market and some great restaurants. All in all a brilliant holiday and we can't recommend La Fleureau enough. We will be back again without a doubt. Thank you Ian and Carol, we look forward to sharing another glass of wine with you soon.
