Resting nearby the fairy tale Chateau at Montreuil-Bellay, the gîte at Le Vieux Moulin takes over the first floor of the later extension of the beautiful old 1840s Mill house. Surrounded by the River Thouet and an old mill stream, the property sits on an island and is perfect for those wanting a relaxing break.Located near Vaudelnay, just a short distance from Montreuil-Bellay and Saumur, this very spacious and charming 1st floor apartment overlooks the river. The Mill which is set in 2 hectares of grounds is ideal for two to four guests and features two bedrooms, one with lovely river views, and the other with orchard and garden views, and offers all the comforts of home. Guests can enjoy a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom with both bathtub and separate walk in shower, an independent toilet, a generous lounge and dining area with comfortable seating, and a bright sun lounge. A balcony with a barbecue and garden furniture overlooks the river allowing alfresco dining with amazing views. 2 hectares of grounds to explore, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Loire Valley with abundant birdlife and wildlife creating a tranquil atmosphere, the gîte provides a wonderful escape perfectly situated for exploring the region’s vineyards, chateaux and cultural treasures. Truly Magical
By Debbie on 19-Aug-2026We stayed here for a week with our daughter and were warmly welcomed by the lovely Carol and Pete. We absolutely fell in love with the place right from the start. Everything about Le Vieux Moulin is picture perfect. Tranquil, beautiful, clean, comfortable. Staying for a week is really not enough to appreciate it. We had a hamper supplied for us that was outstanding! Every little detail had been paid attention to. The gite is so well equipped, it really feels like you’re at home. Waking up in the morning and having a coffee on the balcony was amazing, overlooking the river in the morning sun. Equally, sat out at night looking at the stars on a clear night was fantastic. We spotted shooting stars on our first evening! We explored so much of the area during our stay. Saumur is beautiful on the Loire Valley and has some amazing restaurants. We were always welcomed back to Le Vieux Moulin by Felix, one of the many resident cats who we totally fell in love with and followed us around like our little tour guide! Thank you so much to Carol and Pete for such a wonderful stay and for being so awesome! You probably guessed we really didn’t want to leave! This has to be one of the best, if not THE best places we’ve stayed. Hopefully we will see you next year xxx
