Description
La Porcherie is a recent luxury conversion of a traditional tuffeau barn. It has its own access and parking spaces. The accommodation is of a high standard and is set in a small rural hamlet surrounded by pear and apple orchards.Our holiday cottage offers accommodation for four. It is situated in Saint-Lambert-des-Levées, 5km from the delightful town of Saumur in the western Loire Valley and close to the magnificent River Loire.
On the ground floor, the spacious double-aspect living area contains two leather two-seater sofas, two leather armchairs with footstools, a dining table with six chairs and a fully-fitted, well equipped kitchen with dishwasher, microwave oven and induction hob. There is ample cupboard space. The utility room contains the washing machine, freezer, ironing board and cleaning materials. Finally, there is a wet-room with WC and washbasin.
There is a good wi-fi connection and can connect to the internet from the garden.
On the first floor, there is a second shower room with WC and washbasin. There are two bedrooms, one with two single beds and one with a double bed. Both are light and airy with a double aspect and contain mirrored wardrobes and chests of drawers.
Outside, the very large garden is excellent for bird-watching and star-gazing. There is plenty of space for sitting, outdoor games and barbecuing. Garden furniture, loungers and a barbecue are provided.
Adult bikes are available on request and at your own risk.

Truly Perfect
By Robin and Jill Coates - Durham on 07-May-2026Our holiday got off to a bad start due to car breakdown in Cherbourg and consequently we didn't arrive at La Porcherie until the evening of Monday 11th. In spite of Colin's precise directions we made a wrong turn and found ourselves on the wrong side of the Loire river. We phoned Colin and he immediately drove to Le Clerc's car park and rescued us. Fantastic Host ! The Gite and gardens are lovely. So clean, comfortable and quiet and one wants for nothing. The weather was well below expectations for May and Colin agreed that it was exceptional to experience so much rain and low temperatures. However we did enjoy our stay and hope to return. The Gite is located very near to Saurmur where there are many shops, cafes and restaurants. Also near to supermarkets and petrol stations. If you park near the railway station it is an easy and pleasant walk across the first bridge to the island then the second bridge to the centre of Saumur. The weather finally improved on our last day and it was obvious that the guests following us were in for lots of sun as is the norm for this part of France. We sincerely hope to return and look forward to meeting Ellie who was unfortunately required back in the UK for the duration of our stay. Again hats off to Colin who made our stay PERFECT !
3rd stay at this gite. Wonderfully equipped and clean. Quiet rural setting but near to town. Hosts couldn’t be more helpful, but very discreet.

We have found a gem

Location is ideal being semi rural but an easy drive to Saumur and only a few minutes to the river. The house is comfortable, very well equipped and would recommend it to those who want to explore the many delights of the area. For us a fabulous find!
Lovely gite - well equipped

The gite was equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay - located just outside of Saumur in a quiet agricultural area, but within easy reach of the town and surrounding attractions. Satellite tv and a solid internet connection worked well. We really enjoyed our stay.
