Description
Our villa which sleeps six is located in the beautiful countryside of the southern Vendee, an area known for its microclimate and record-number of sunshine hours per year. An easy drive from St Malo and only 45 minutes from La Rochelle airport.It is the perfect location for a family holiday with so many activities right on your doorstep and the beautiful safe sandy beaches of La Tranche sur Mer, La Griere, La Terriere etc are only a 10 minute drive.
Water sports enthusiasts will love the activities on offer here at La Tranche with windsurfing, paddle boarding, kitesurfing etc ( courses all year round) and the area is perfect for cyclists too with over 1800km of cycle paths and bike hire widely available. The area is part of the Velodyssee a 200km Atlantic coast route
The O’Gliss Waterpark is 5 minutes drive away and the O'Fun Park which is the largest adventure park in the Vendee with accrobranche (similar to Go Ape) paintballing and many other activities for all ages is 5 minutes drive too. With the Go-Karting track and the canoeing on the Marais all very close to the house there is something different to do every day!
The lovely town of Angles is less than 10 minutes drive with its twice-weekly markets, magnificent church and a great trattoria/pizza take-away.
Our house is situated in a pretty village which has a small shop just opposite that sells all the basics including fresh croissants and bread in the mornings. The cafe/bar is attached and on a weekend there is a small group of guitarists playing and a food truck which sells the most delicious burgers and chips! Very handy if you don't fancy cooking or don't want to venture too far! The nearest supermarket and petrol station is a 5 minute drive away.
The secluded back garden boasts a beautiful heated pool which is accessed by a safety gate and which is totally private with a flower-covered pergola and barbecue ,perfect for lazy lunchtimes by the pool. We also have a full sized pool/snooker table and and table tennis for your enjoyment and a toilet in the games room. We have lots of games and books available also.
The large kitchen/diner is very well equipped with a dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, air fryer, slow cooker, iron, ironing board, washing machine.
There are three bedrooms with fans which consist of one king size bed; one double bedroom and 1 twin bedroom, shower room with large walk-in shower and a separate toilet.

Lovely house with fabulous pool
By Kate Griffiths on 31-Jul-2026We had a lovely holiday - really well equipped for 6 adults. The swimming pool was perfect and lovely to sit by in the evening- great stargazing as well. Great little bakery opposite where we had wine in the evening as well. Location was perfect - near the beach and a number of vineyards that we visited and the water park Would definitely return and friends have already asked us about it having seen our pictures.

Lovely cottage in great location

We particularly enjoyed the pool (given it was very hot), and relaxing in the outdoor space which is pretty and well designed. We made good use of the pool table as well. The interior was clean and well equipped with comfy beds and a nicely extended and updated kitchen since our last visit. Also, by keeping the shutters closed, the bedrooms weren’t unbearable at night which was welcome! Aside from this, the location is amazing - we love the village with the little shop/cafe/bar. They had a village free while we were there which showed what a lovey and friendly community feel the village has. Plenty of nearby things to do - we spent a lot of time at the cottage given it was so hot, but did have great fun canoeing, enjoyed a beautiful walk at Les Conches and went into Le Tranche Sur Mer several times. Would recommend the Super U in Luçon rather than Tranche Sur Mer- not much further but much better equipped. Overall a great break, we would definitely consider a 3rd visit

Fantastic location , lovely cottage but
By Steve Parry on 19-Jun-2026The village and the bungalows location was exceptional. It was very rural farming Vendee. Just 15 minutes to lots of excellent beaches . Cycling routes go through the village which is fabulous. The cottage had a pool which in the heatwave of 44C was a godsend . However the pool was dirty . Pool surround had loose tiles that could get dangerous. Sun brollies were old and broken unfortunately. The cottage was well furnished and the kitchen had everything you’d possibly need . We booked as it’s World Cup English Channel TV. Reported this to the owner and frankly the reply “ sorry just going into the theatre try board games “ was tbh a little irritating. The owners have a cleaner pool supervisor couple who loaned us a pirate box that solved our Tv issue but the owner couldn’t have cared less.

Thank you for your feedback. We are quite surprised by your low rating of our home as you had emailed to say that you would potentially like to stay again next year!! Firstly, we never present the house with broken parasols; one snapped whilst you were there and we have replaced it. We buy and replace parasols every year. We have never had a complaint re a dirty pool in all the years we have rented and if there was an issue we have Shaun the pool guy’s number available for him to visit and rectify. We never stated that one can access BBC and ITV, it’s no longer possible abroad and if you had communicated to us how important it was for you to watch the World Cup we would have made you aware of this. However, once we heard from you we spoke to our guy there and he provided you with a pirate box so that you could enjoy all the games. I was not dismissive of your text, I said I would find a solution (which we did) and then had to turn off my phone after a text exchange as we were in the theatre with the show about to start. Prior to this my husband had also made phone calls to France to find out where you could watch the games and sent a link to Shaun to give you. The loose paving slabs around the pool have now been replaced; our builder could only get access to do this when no guests were at the house. We are pleased that you had a lovely holiday; we all put lots of hard work into trying to give guests the wonderful holiday they deserve
Week stay in La Vendée
By Andy VW on 11-Jul-2025Stayed in this lovely villa for a week with our 2 children and our dog, the villa was beautiful and was perfectly equipped with plenty to entertain both children and adults alike. The location was also perfect, from the easy access to local towns and villages, to the village in which the villa is situated. Communication with the owner was easy, effective and timely, ample parking, and very reasonably priced. All in all, could not have been happier!

Great location
By Georgina on 18-Jun-2025The gite was very well equipped and cool despite the seasonally unusual weather conditions. The pool was great and a lovely temperature. Great access to the local surfing beach and we had a day out at the O Gliss water park which was enjoyed by everyone.

Relaxing holiday
By Carole Foster on 23-Aug-2024We had a very relaxing holiday in this lovely home. The pool was warm and private. The children loved it. There was always somewhere to sit and read in the sun or shade. We used the very useful BBQ and enjoyed eating outside. The pool table was a bonus and was loved by my son and husband. Unfortunately the air hockey wasn’t working but as the pool was such a hit, no one really noticed! The village is extremely peaceful. We ventured to a beautiful nearby beach and also to the Epicere for daily croissants but other than that everyone wanted to stay in the pool!
