We offer self-catering accommodation with the option of breakfast and or dinner any day should you wish to have.
The Website shows our 2 gîtes which are each for couples only. We are pet friendly.

Located on the Normandy/Pays de la Loire and Brittany borders, our renovated barn was professionally renovated in 2020/21 to produce two luxury holiday gîtes in the French countryside.

Each gîte is designed for couples only and both are approx. 60m2 and are on two levels, downstairs with an open plan kitchen, living room and dining area with a wood burner. Upstairs, the bedrooms each have a Super King-size bed (200x200cm) (which can be split to 2 singles) under a vaulted oak beamed ceiling with an en-suite bathroom and underfloor heating. Outdoors we have a terrace alongside the barn with sun awning and a large garden area with decking and comfortable seating under an oak tree. Both are perfect places to relax, read a book and enjoy a glass of wine. There is also a fire pit should you wish to sit out later in the evening. Being in rural France it is very quiet here with just the sound of birds and the occasionally tractor and with no light pollution this enables you to see the incredible night sky.
We offer you Free Fibre Broadband Internet ( 500 mbps )
Both kitchens are fully equipped, with crockery, utensils and cutlery for 4 people. Plus sharp kitchen knives.
All our bed linen (100% cotton sheets and duvet) towels (bath sheet and hand towel each) bathrobes are included.
In Summer 4.0 tog and Winter 10.4 tog duvets.
Each gîte has a fan to cool you on those warm nights.
In winter we supply logs to cover your first 2 nights - we charge 8.00 Euros for extra panniers of fire wood.
We do not have any hidden extras - so NO final cleaning charge, electricity charged etc. Only extras are any extra fire wood and meals that you choose to have.
We are pet friendly, your dog can roam the garden and we can suggest walks for you to enjoy. UK guests require their dog wormed in France before returning to the UK. We can make an appointment at the local vet for you.
We like to offer our guests real customer service, we live here so we are very happy to advice you on places to visit, activities, walking and cycling routes, recommended restaurants etc. We offer a Tourist Information box of Tourist leaflets, but we can also give you tips which will help you plan your days. So please do ask.
Guests can stay either self-catering or we offer breakfast daily should you wish. (Continental and cooked options from 10.00€ per person)
We offer an Arrival supper for you, which after a days travelling many have as not wanting to cook or eat out their first evening.
We also offer 2 or 3 course dinner which is available daily. Generally this menu offers you French classics plus other choices. We can cater for vegetarians and those who have specific allergies. But please give us advance notice.

We only ask that you give us 48 hours notice with your choice, so we can shop and prepare.
Our Welcome pack for you to enjoy includes - A bottle of red wine and water, crisps, chocolates, Dolche Gusto coffee capsules, tea bags, sugar, mints and fruit.
A week before arrival we will send you directions. We ask you on the day to text us your estimated arrival time, so we can plan our day and be here to welcome you and show you around the gîte.
In winter, perhaps even more important as we can light the wood burner an hour or so before your arrival, so you arrive to a nice warm and cozy gîte.
This is our third year with Simply Owners - since opening in April 2021 we have had over 1000 guests stay at La Martinière from 54 different countries. We have 180x 5* reviews on AirBnB and our review score is 9.6 with Booking.com
Naturally we prefer guests to book via Simply Owners/Direct as it saves you and us the 3rd party high commissions.

We ask for a 20% deposit when making your reservation. With the Balance due 30 days before the arrival date.

Rural idyll
By Jim Elliott on 19-Sep-2026Most enjoyable and peaceful stay. As we had a dog with us, perhaps a couple of speed bumps on the small (and rarely used) road through the property would help reduce the speed at at which certain individuals passed through. On the whole though would recommend the Gite.
Thanks Helen and David for a really great stay. We look forward to returning next year.

Relaxing Retreat
