Leave ReviewFantastic stay, 100% recommend
By Yasmin on 02-Sep-2023We are a young active couple and had an absolutely fantastic week at Marc’s Villa! The house and the location was everything we hoped for and more! We had a fab time exploring the local area and found Marc’s welcome book which was full of recommendations so helpful thank you. The house was perfect and I was so impressed with how well equipped it was! Even the inflatables in the garage were a fab surprise, I’ll miss reading my book from a rubber ring - there was also a volleyball net and ball!! The house is SUPER quiet and still a 5min walk into the village where there is a great local restaurant in a beautiful square. We found lots of scenic hikes to choose from right from the doorstep. There is great river access a short drive away for swimming and paddle boarding in Pinsac. There is a large selection of great restaurants in local villages/ towns as well as a Michelin Star Chateaux 10mins away. There are many quaint and pretty nearby towns to take day trips to highlights were Sarlat-la-Caneda and Rocamadour. We usually spend our time in Alpes-de-Haute Provence and so it was such a nice change to explore the French countryside! We will no doubt be returning and wouldn’t hesitate to book.

Amazing House In A Stunning Location
By Paul Jones on 08-Jul-2023Dealing with Marc from the outset and throughout our holiday has been fantastic. The description and instructions were exact and nothing was too much trouble. The house was superbly presented and has all the mod cons and more. It is located in the most idyllic setting over looking miles of beautiful French countryside. You can enjoy these views from the patio and the pool which is clean and kept at the perfect temperature. The location of the property is within easy reach of towns for shopping and some of the most picturesque places to visit in the area. What’s more, you have a kayak and canoe base just 10 minutes from the village of Cales. We have already discussed planning a return visit.

Lisa - Family with Older Children
By Lisa on 01-Jan-2020A fantastic house with great facilities and lovely pool. Set in a beautiful quiet location with lots of great places to visit. The house is fully equipped with everything you could wish for. We really enjoyed Le Belvedere at Rocamadour, canoeing on the Dordogne, Gouffre de Padirac Caves, Sarlat, Domme and La Roque Gageac. We were lucky enough to visit Sarlat during the market which was fantastic. If you plan to visit Gouffre de Padirac Caves during peak season, we would recommend booking on line. We ended up buying tickets there and returning the next day, as otherwise we would have had a six hour wait!
Melody - Family with Older Children
By Melody on 17-Aug-2019We enjoyed our week at Cales retreat despite some rather mixed weather! The house is in a lovely setting, very quiet and extremely safe with wonderful views. Marc's communication prior to the holiday was excellent and directions to the house were great - we found it first time! The bedrooms are all a good size and the beds comfortable, there was enough room for 7 people adults to relax without getting in each others way. Plenty of utensils, crockery and cooking pots to use. The facilities at the house are good, although Wi-fi was a bit patchy. Plenty of loungers and outside seating, bbq, bikes and games on offer, we became quite competitive with our boules matches! We loved the pool, particularly as it is heated, it is very clean and when the weather was kind to us we were in it all the time. Loved watching the birds take dip in the early evening too! Unfortunately there is now only one restaurant in the village which was a little disappointing, whilst it was excellent food, it would have been nice to have a bit more choice. The Lamb, Tuna steak and puddings were all delicious. We did get involved in the lantern parade round town with the locals which was good fun. As we just wanted to relax we didn't venture out much, however, we really enjoyed the 9km kayak trip from Meyronne down to Pinsac for 18euros per person and also went into Souilliac. A great place to relax, unwind, sip a glass of rose and read!

Benjamin - Young Couples
By Benjamin on 30-Jun-2018We enjoyed a supremely relaxing holiday as a solo couple for one week and then with friends for the second week. The house catered for our every need, was clean, well maintained and cool (considering it was 30+ degrees everyday of our stay, this was a welcome relief from the heat). We found that there was lots of things to do in the local area, especially visiting beautiful places, they are in abundance in this area but also found there to be many events including festivals, markets and a medieval day in Rocamadour during our stay! I would certainly recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing break away, we certainly did not want to come home!
