Located in the medieval hill-top village of Montauroux, 20km to the north-west of Cannes and 15km west of Grasse, Villa Neroli is a charming Provençal villa, situated on the sought-after Chemin de Bigarel. South-facing, with far-reaching views of the Esterel across the valley, the large (240m²) villa has its own pool, a choice of dining and lounging areas and a well-tended garden at the front, with a smaller garden, patio area and rising terraces at the back. The interior is very spacious with tiled floors and luxury fittings. An unusual feature is the sunny, Provençal-style kitchen opening into a very generous living space and also onto the back terrace.
This is our second visit to Neroli.
We love it there, beautiful Villa, awesome views of the distant hills and Callian.
The town of Montauroux has a lovely bar, again with great views. Stunning area.
Neroli itself is a great place to stay , fab pool, air conditioning and is kept in an immaculate state. Looked after by Pascal, a local chap who is always smiling and incredibly helpful.
We will be back again next year!
We had a really enjoyable week relaxing with our family in this beautiful villa. Set in a peaceful and elevated position, just below the charming hilltop village of Montauroux, it is spacious, elegant, tastefully furnished and very well equipped. There is a lovely swimming pool and terrace with splendid views. The village centre is about 10 minutes walk up a steep hill. The effort is rewarded by a great bakery where you can buy fresh croissants and baguettes, a few shops, bars and restaurants - everything you need. Also within 10 minutes drive is a large LeClerc supermarket.
if you are feeling energetic and want a change of scene, you can walk 20 minutes to neighbouring hilltop town Callian, which is also stunningly pretty, with more good restaurants. We walked there twice for dinner at the excellent Bellevue restaurant in the square, which meant noone had to drive!
Watersports are available on the nearby Lac de St Cassien. We had a great afternoon there trying out stand up paddle boarding - perfect place to learn on calm flat water. The coast at Frejus is not far.
We were welcomed by Pascal, who was really helpful and looked after us during our stay.
We would highly recommend this villa.
My wife and I spent a grand old time here. We did not really go upstairs because the ground floor was just great. Open plan. Straight out to the pool which is really fantastic. A proper half pool. Loads of room and loungers to dine or fry or shade yourself.
The village is one of a number in the area that sit on hill tops. All of them have got a certain charm. Go to Fayance on market day. Nice grub to be bought. CalIian is just a small hike away. Interesting couple of bars and restaurants. Go walking down the River Saigne. Walk up into the hills behind Mons. Nothing hectic and you get great views. The Oak forests are both unexpected and fantastic.
Go down to Agay on the coast. Even in June we were happy in the sea.
Best of all is the seclusion and privacy. We like that. I think most would. Everybody mentions Pascal on a review but he is a good chap who will help you as much as he can.
Nothing not to like about this villa or it’s location. Go and enjoy.
Montauroux is our favourite village in the Var region and this villa is the perfect home from home to enjoy it. Beautifully maintained house only a short (if rather steep) walk into the village centre. We were met by Pascal who took great delight in showing off the house, garden and pool ensuring that we had everything we needed.
The garden and pool were nicely secluded without losing the views over the valley. The house was so well equipped with everything we needed - especially air con! A very pleasant two weeks which we look forward to repeating.
This was a last minute booking for us. Fantastic views of the mountains and very close to the centre of the village. Delightful pool, children easily entertained (pool and table tennis)and lots of practice at hill starts and using a planchet. Pascal provides fantastic support for what is a very cared for property.
Having stayed in many rented villas, this is one of the best. From the moment I contacted Miriam about our booking until leaving the villa at the end of our stay, it was all seamless.
The villa is very much a home from home and was absolutely spotless. The villa manager Pascal is a gem. He met us on arrival to talk through the accommodation and when a thunderstorm caused the electricity to go off, he turned up within 10 minutes to sort out the trip switch. The pool is a great size and our family of 5 loved it. We could walk into Montaroux very quickly and enjoyed pastries and coffee in the square. Lac St Cassien is not far away and we preferred this to a longer trip to a busy beach. The inflatable assault course on the lake was a firm favourite. The perched villages are a delight. If you are looking for a spacious and well located villa in a beautiful area not too far from Nice then this ticks the boxes.
We have just returned from two weeks spent in Villa Neroli. ( 23rd June-7 th July. We found this a most magnificent villa with good quality furnishings very comfortable beds and excellent kitchen and bathrooms. There is plenty of space inside and out whether you are a party of 2 or 6. The bbq was very clean and easy to use for evenings spent at 'home'. Our favourite spot around the villa was on the small upstairs balcony sipping pre dinner drinks gazing over the amazing views! Montauroux and all the surrounding hill top villages were a joy to mooch around and explore and not too far away. We ventured down to the Cotes D'Azur a couple of times but were always very happy to return to the peace and tranquility of Villa Neroli. It felt good to know that Pascal who looks after the property was a phone call away if we needed anything. He recommended restaurants and places to go and it was a pleasure to meet and chat with him.
Overall Villa Neroli and this area gave us a wonderful French holiday!
Villa Neroli is a very spacious and beautifully presented villa with wonderful views over the valley towards Callian. The pool is a great size and was much needed as it was very very hot when we stayed! The villa is in great condition , all the bathrooms and bedrooms were a good size and there is AC throughout. There is Sat TV and plenty of English channels inc kids channel which is helpful and albeit it a steep climb up the hill Montauroux village is within walking distance,
Many thanks for taking the time to write a review, Tim - so pleased that you had a great time at Villa Neroli and made full use of the pool! Best wishes, Miriam
We stayed win our two teenage sons . They loved the area and were entertained by bridge jumping, lake swimming and the fabulous pool. Lots to do at the lake , the inflatable obstacle course was a hit and you can hire pedelos with slides. The water park at Frejus was fun but expect to queue for the slides . The villa was perfect, very private and quiet yet within walking distance of the village. We liked the informal Bar d Clos which was always friendly. They serve good pizza which was again popular with the teenagers. The villa was spotlessly clean and large enough for us all to find our favourite part to relax on in. Table tennis followed by a dip in the pool was a common theme. We don't always like to go to places twice but we would definitely visit Villa Neroli again.
Hello Tracey, Thank you so much for your kind review. I am delighted to hear that you and your family had the perfect holiday, and that Villa Neroli and Montauroux ticked all the boxes that would make you visit again. Best regards, Miriam
The villa is fantastic! Very clean, larger than expected and more than enough facilities. Bathrooms are large and beds comfortable. It is secluded and we didn't hear anyone else while we were there. Pool is a very good size and there are plenty of places to wonder off to around the villa and have some time alone, if required. Pascal was very helpful, if needed and we had no problems booking etc with the owner of the property. There are a few restaurants in the village, which is about a 10 minute walk. It is a very steep hill to get there but there is plenty of parking if you prefer to drive. There is a lake 10 minutes drive away which has sunbeds and water sports and it is about a 30 minute drive to Cannes. Would definitely recommend!
Hi Sandra, Thank you so much for your lovely review of Villa Neroli. It is really good to hear that the villa exceeded your expectations, and that you enjoyed your stay. Many thanks for recommending! Miriam
We stayed at the end of July 2016, having booked with Miriam. Miriam was quick to respond and provided all the information we needed. After a long journey we were met by Pascal with a smile and a tour to familiarise us. In the property was also a much appreciated bottle of wine, juice and milk etc. Great after a long journey. The villa is homely, beautiful, well equipped and very clean. Our children loved the pool and the wifi (a must for any teenagers). There was plenty to do around Montauroux, lots of good restaurants and supermarkets. We drove to Gorge du Verdon, which was a drive, but so worth it. We also drove to Monaco for the day, which was loved by all the family. We would recommend this villa and location to anyone.
Thank you for your kind review which is much appreciated. I am so glad that you enjoyed you stay at Villa Neroli, and also found time to visit the Gorge du Verdon - definitely worth the drive!
Kind regards, Miriam.
We had a great week at this stunning and spacious villa. We enjoyed staying in and enjoying the garden and pool as much as we enjoyed exploring the area. A short, steep, walk up to the local village was a daily occurrence for a coffee and fresh croissants but we also explored further afield with trips to Lac St Cassiene, Fayence and Grasse. The area has a lot to offer and the villa offer a great base. But if its just R&R you're after, you could equally be more than happy spending your days at the villa and enjoying the various outdoor eating areas and the lovely pool. Pascal was a great host during our visit and nothing was too much trouble. Overall a highly enjoyable stay and one that I would recommend without hesitation.
Thank you so much for your lovely review which will be very helpful to prospective guests. I am delighted that you had such an enjoyable stay at Villa Neroli, and thank you also for your unhesitating recommendation. Kind regards, Miriam.
The house is spacious, comfortable and well-equipped, set in an attractive private garden with good shade and a lovely pool. Excellent view from the garden and front windows. The air conditioning works well and is welcome on hot nights. All this in accordance with or exceeding the description. Pascal welcomed us warmly and was available in case anything went wrong but nothing did. There are several walking routes of various lengths up to the village, some steeper than others, but it’s only a short distance as the crow flies and there’s a bakery, cafes and restaurants. There’s also a small Casino for basic food etc. in the village and a big E. Leclerc a few minutes’ drive away. There were four in our party and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Montauroux is in a beautiful and interesting area and the peaceful surroundings of the house helped me make good progress with my second novel. The first can be found here http://tinyurl.com/WmConiston .
Many thanks for your thoughtful and comprehensive review of Villa Neroli. It is always good to hear that the house lives up to its description, and particularly pleasing to know that the setting helped you to progress with your next novel.
Kind regards, Miriam
Villa Neroli is on a hill-side below the village and the grounds are very well landscaped so that you are not overlooked. The pool is a very good size and cleaned, maintained weekly. Downstairs is open plan, very spacious and well equipped. The main bedroom is downstairs and has much needed air conditioning. The upstairs bedrooms do not currently have a/c, and this summer it was very, very hot, so it's good that the owners are planning to install air conditioning throughout. Three outdoor eating areas give you a lot of choice. The village is at the top of a very steep hill, so I tended to drive up to a car park just outside the village for the daily purchase of croissants and baguettes from a lovely boulangerie. We had a couple of good meals at the popular La Marina restaurant in Montauroux, and there are numerous fine dining restaurants within a 30 minute drive. Nice airport and Mediterranean resorts are less than a mile away. We had a very relaxing 2 weeks at Villa Neroli, and would thoroughly recommend it and come back again.
Thank you very much for your review - I am delighted to hear that you would stay at Villa Neroli again and that you would thoroughly recommend it to other guests.
For the benefit of future guests, it must be pointed out that the villa is very much in Montauroux village, on one of its main thoroughfares in fact (Chemin de Bigarel), and is only 500 metres from the village centre. Although there is plenty of parking in the village, there is also the option of taking a 15 minute stroll to the village square via the less steep of the two hills and admiring the stunning view across the valley to Callian, Montauroux's sister village, (also easily accessible on foot).
It must be a typing error, but Villa Neroli is actually 33 miles from Nice airport - thankfully! The Mediterranean itself is closer, with the beaches at Cannes or at Théoule-sur-Mer both about 20 miles from the villa.
La Marina restaurant is certainly a great asset to Montauroux, as is La Brasserie du Clos in the square - (plenty of atmosphere and surprisingly good fish!) - and you are absolutely right about the many opportunities for fine dining in the area: only 15 minutes drive away in Fayence there is the outstanding Table d'Yves - http://www.latabledyves.com/uk/index.php, much frequented by locals and visitors alike, we've always had memorable meals there. Newly opened in 2015, on the site of the (now retired) Eric Maio's Michelin starred establishment, we have Le Carré d'Ange - http://restaurant-carredange.fr/, where creative young chef David Carré is definitely making his mark with an exciting and imaginative take on Provençal ingredients....and it's on the outskirts of Montauroux - just 5 minutes drive from Villa Neroli!
Just returned from, probably, our best holiday experience ever. The Villa is a credit to the owners who have thought of everything, it is tastefully decorated and extremely well equipped. Our 16 year old daughter and 11 year old twins (Boy and Girl) loved the pool so much it made relaxing very easy and the holiday flew by. Pascal was a wonderful agent who was very helpful and courteous and his English was infinitely better than our French! The Marina Restaurant food in the village was FAB as was the Bar du Clos. The local markets are great and within easy reach. Are only wish is that we could have stayed longer but we will be back again. Would definitely recommend this Villa to anyone wanting a break in this area of France. The Carr Family.
Dear Carr Family,
Thank you so much for your excellent review. I am really pleased to hear that you had such a great time at villa Neroli and do hope that you will be back again.
Thanks also for mentioning Pascal - he is an absolute gem!
From the moment we arrived we knew this villa would have everything we needed for a comfortable, relaxed holiday and it didn't disappoint. Pascal met us promptly with the keys and straight from the get go the electric gates and solid entrance door made us feel secure in our gated hideaway. The grounds are well shielded and private, the pool large and clean, and the lounging areas providing lovely views of the country side from the elevated position. The interior was excellent with huge bathrooms, living areas and the kitchen left you wanting for nothing with everything that you could possibly require. I took my mountain bike along and even that was catered for with a huge double garage to assemble it and utility room to wash my kit etc. It seemed everything had been thought of. The area is beautiful with several bakeries and supermarkets nearby. There are plenty of restaurants in Montauroux and the neighbouring villages. We used the villa's guide books to plan a mountainous village tour into the Haut Var which was a great day and also drove to Saint Maxime and caught the water taxis across the bay visiting Port Grimaud and St Tropez. All in all we had a great holiday and it was lovely to come back each day to a luxurious villa.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a thoughtful and detailed review of Villa Neroli. It's always great to hear that the villa lives up to expectations, and I'm so glad to hear that you had an enjoyed a comfortable and relaxed holiday.
Thanks also for reminding me about the Sainte Maxime water taxi - must give it a try this summer!
Hope you'll visit again.
The villa was beautiful, very serene, uncluttered, and spacious. A light and airy feel throughout with the gorgeous views set the holiday mood right away. The swimming pool was one of the nicest I have seen and swum in, and the whole property was immaculately clean inside and out. The local village is very charming, with a good boulangerie and a sweet restaurant within walking distance. Easy access by car to places of interest, not to mention supermarkets, specialty foodshops etc.. All in all, a terrific holiday was had by all members of the cross generational party.Recommended for: Sightseeing, Age 55+, Romantic Getaway, Families with Teenagers.
Hi Jlh, Thank you so much for your glowing review, which is much appreciated. I am very glad that everyone in your party enjoyed their stay at Villa Neroli, and hope that you will return. Miriam
Just got back from a fabulous family stay in Villa Neroli. The villa is located a short (but steep) walk from the pretty hill top village of Montauroux, which has a choice of boulangeries, and restaurants (I would recommend la marina for a relaxed evening meal, or Bar du Clos in the village square to sip a glass of wine and watch village life. The villa is really well equipped and tastefully furnished with everything you need, a good sized pool and is ideally placed for exploring the region, whether local walks / runs to other villages like Callian or as a base for exploring further afield with Frejus, Cannes and the coast a short drive away. Pascal who looks after the villa is charming and very helpful. The only complaint is that we did no book long enough.Recommended for: Families with Young Children, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers.
Hi Dan, Many thanks for your excellent review, and for giving the wonderful Pascal some well-deserved recognition. I am very pleased that you and your family had such a great time at Villa Neroli and enjoyed so much of what the area has to offer. You will be most welcome to stay for longer next time! Miriam
We spent a truly lovely and relaxing week at villa Neroli during the last week in July 2014. The villa is very spacious and well equipped. The weather was also great at this time of year, 29 degrees every day and clear blue skies. The location is very quiet, private and relaxing, just what we needed after DRIVING across France from Calais. All dealings from booking the villa to leaving were very smooth and very pleasant. We would absolutely recommend this villa and would certainly be visiting again in the future. Marsha & Simon, UK.Recommended for: Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway, Families with Teenagers.
Hi Marsha & Simon, Thank you for your kind review which is much appreciated. I am so glad that you had a relaxing time at Villa Neroli after your long drive, and I hope that you will visit again - maybe for two weeks next time! Miriam
We love Provence and we really enjoyed Villa Neroli. It is a spacious, practical, well-equipped house in attractive grounds with a great pool. The views across the valley are lovely. The village of Montauroux is close and provides croissants for breakfast and bread for the day while Callian is a little further and an alternative. There are good restaurants in the surrounding villages and a wonderful French supermarket not far away in the valley.Recommended for: Families with Young Children, Girls Getaway, Age 55+, Romantic Getaway, Families with Teenagers.
Hi Cirius, Thank you for taking the time to review Villa Neroli. I am very pleased that you had such an enjoyable time here and hope that you will return. Miriam
