Doing nothing happily . . .

By Jonathan Glover on 04-Sep-2021

Nothing really to write about . . . . . apart from the magnificent oak fiercely guarding the smiling house, the creaking timbered barns and log store, the lazy green acres of grass under my feet, the cool peace of the bread oven, the show off songbirds in the tall trees, or, maybe, the blue lilt of the pool in the long afternoon. Oh, and perhaps the sunsets bringing another nothing doing day to a close to the sound of southern Rhone red in a

The best

By Samantha Ryder on 28-Aug-2021

We have stayed in a few farmhouses in France and all have been very nice but this tops them all by far. It was just perfect in every aspect. The house was spotlessly clean, it had everything we needed and more, so comfortable, the welcome package was a lovely surprise. The outdoor area, pool, activities etc were amazing, more things for the kids to play with than time we had and so much space. We met the pool man, he was so helpful, the pool was very good. The location, absolutely perfect, peaceful, surrounded by cattle and farm fields, home from home, only 55 minutes from Limoges airport. The hosts Tracey & Nigel, communication was so fast, I asked lots of questions and Tracey emailed or texted straight away, nothing was too much bother, I felt as if they were friends and we have never met them! We would love to come back here one day. Thank you so much for everything. .

Beautifully presented Dordogne farmhouse set in huge, immaculate gardens

By David, Monique, Caitlin & Amy on 17-Jul-2021

After spending weeks trawling the internet for that all allusive French holiday home (you know, the one in the perfect location and with all facilities laid on) this was the only accommodation that 'ticked all our boxes'. The farmhouse was fully equipped with absolutely everything thoroughly thought about in order to provide for the most relaxing holiday. The very generous welcome pack was most appreciated and the accommodation itself was beautifully presented and clean. The downstairs level was very airy and cool when wishing to escape the heat of the day. Upstairs there were shutters on the windows and fans to keep you cool at night. There was an abundance of tourist literature in the accommodation, and the owners had compiled information on the amenities and attractions of the surrounding area. A well-stocked library of books is also available and there is a large flatscreen TV in the main room. The large pool was perfect for our family of four whilst the shaded veranda around the property allowed you to dine at different tables for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The immaculately-kept gardens are huge but we also spent much time walking with our dog through the nearby lanes and fields. The wireless internet kept us in touch with home and business whilst away. The location of the farmhouse is just outside the village of Payzac with its bakeries, butcher’s shop, chemist and supermarket/petrol station. Easy day trips south into the Dordogne, north into the Haute-Vienne region or east onto the Corrèze regions of France. We also enjoyed eating at the numerous restaurants in nearby Saint-Yrieix-La-Perche including the fabulous English tearoom/restaurant located in the town. If you are looking for a large, well-kept accommodation with all modern amenities, then look no further than ' L’Auberge Haute’! We will not forget our stay in this beautiful and immaculate accommodation, and hope to return. Thank you so much, Tracey and Nigel for your hospitality during our stay.
