Description
Lets are from Sunday to Sunday.This lovely converted school, at the edge of an unspoilt village, enjoys wonderful views over Le Parc Naturel Regional de Quercy. Soucirac is centrally situated between the Lot and Dordogne rivers and ideally placed for all local attractions. The house is 7km from the charming village of Le Vigan and 15km from the medieval market town of Gourdon.
Many of our guests have returned for a second holiday, several have come back year after year as they love the house and area so much.
Accommodation:
Ground floor: large, comfortable living room, dining area and extremely well equipped kitchen with electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and microwave. Downstairs WC. English satellite TV/DVD/CD player. A large selection of DVDs and books + some CDs and board games are provided for guests' use. Free wi-fi.
1st floor: 3 bedrooms
- 1 master bedroom with king size bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside tables and ensuite bathroom with bath & over the bath shower..
- 1 large double room with 1 double & 1 single bed, large wardrobe, bedside table and large bookcase
- 1 twin bedded room with chest of drawers and bedside tables.
There is a large family bathroom with twin washbasins, walk-in shower and an additional over the bath shower. Separate upstairs WC.
Outside: Secluded 3/4 acre garden and a 1.2 acre paddock with far-reaching, stunning views of the surrounding countryside; parking area for up to 3 cars and a lovely south-facing, enclosed courtyard.
The garden and paddock have fig, plum, apple, pear and walnut trees. Guests are welcome to help themselves to whatever fruit is in season.
The private 10 x 5 metre pool (with pool alarm) has a wonderful, sunny position with a decking area, loungers, tables, chairs and parasols. .
There is also an outdoor table tennis table, a dart board. and a separate, private, boules pitch.
The enclosed, south facing courtyard, with a large table & chairs + parasol, overlooks the superb views of the surrounding countryside. There is also a delightful, covered, outdoor living area with built in BBQ and comfortable seating. This is situated next to an outdoor kitchen which houses the washing machine and a second fridge and has additional cooking and eating utensils.
With so little light pollution, the courtyard and garden are wonderful places to sit and admire the night sky, where even The Milky Way is visible, in this unspoilt area of France.
Bed linen, bath & hand towels and tea towels are provided. Please bring your own pool towels.
The property is unsuitable for under 5s and we do not accept pets.
Prices quoted are for 2 people per week.
For 2026 and 2027 add £130 per additional person per week.
An additional Tourist Tax of up to £5.00 per person per night is payable for over 18s.
A 5% discount is applied for 2 or more weeks booked.
We request a deposit of 20% of the booking fee to secure the booking, with the balance + a £250 refundable security deposit, to be paid 8 weeks before your holiday.

A peaceful and relaxing visit, with great facilities.

The property certainly lived up to expectations: it was very clean and well equipped, with far-reaching countryside views and excellent outside spaces on the terrace and in the upper garden. We particularly liked the open-plan ground floor layout, with a sociable kitchen/diner leading through to a very comfortable sitting room area. The upmarket bedroom fans were an unexpected and welcome bonus in the hot weather! The location - on the periphery of a small, rural village - was quiet but in no sense remote. We would have no hesitation in booking again.

Lovely! Clean, well equipped, lovely pool, quiet village, amazing views
By Jenn and Family on 09-Aug-2026We are a family of 6. We've stayed in many converted farm houses (or school in this case) in this region over the years. This house is absolutely lovely! The pool is a good size, clean, well looked after and not overlooked. The kitchen and tv set up were the best we've ever seen. So much top-notch equipment in the kitchen - it really was a pleasure! (I took photos of the knives to buy myself some when I got home!) We were equally impressed with the quality of the tv / sound / internet set up. It didn't feel like a holiday rental at all. I like a lot of light, so I was pleased with the big windows everywhere. They all have shutters so you can keep the heat down during the day (we were there in August). Those that you want to keep open to cool the house in the evening have separate insect screens kept nearby. There were enough sofas and lots of space around the large kitchen table - but we ate most of our meals at the outside table under the umbrella shade. The figs were in season while we stayed. We loved that! Fresh figs from the big tree in the garden every day! The weather was changeable after a long drought. On several evenings we watched lightning strikes in the distance get closer and closer until we were in the middle of the storm. The views across the countryside are amazing! The bedroom set-up was perfect for our needs. A big double for us, and two twin rooms with full sized comfy beds for the teenagers. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Superb Home from Home
By Thorpe Family on 24-Aug-2025We have had seven wonderful family holidays at L'Ancienne Ecole over the past 10 years! It's a wonderful home from home with large private garden, pool with decking area, barbecue and outside catering/entertaining space. The house is superbly appointed and equipped with everything you need for a perfect stay, even a proper kettle with complimentary tea-bags and milk to make that all important cuppa after a long drive! There are numerous supermarkets, shops, cafes and restaurants in (and around) Gourdon about 20 mins drive away offering all the provisions you need. Just be aware the supermarkets close around midday on Sundays so if you are arriving that day be sure to bring supplies for evening meal and breakfast the following morning! Views of the surrounding countryside from the house, garden and the private meadow are truly breathtaking. We literally spend hours just soaking it in! The local area has plenty to explore including enormous caves, river activities, country walks, medieval towns, and much more if you feel like venturing out, but its just as nice to stay in and relax by the pool! Our sons have enjoyed every visit here as they've grown up and even now as young men still enjoy staying here. Excellent hosts and local caretakers ensure everything is perfect for your stay. Highly recommended!

The owners were attentive and their local manager’s friendly and efficient. This was our first visit, but it won’t be our last.

Idyllic country stay
By Gillian on 08-Jun-2025A lovely country home in a quiet rural hamlet with stunning view. Extremely well equipped, comfortable and clean. Great location for visiting the Dordogne and Lot. A car is essential due to rural location. Would be happy to return.
