Recent stay at villa Casa Dos Pomares
5 out of 5
We have just spent a lovely, enjoyable and relaxing week at the villa.
Everybody who stayed at the villa, felt the photos on the website do not do the villa justice.
The views from the garden over to the lagoon and castle are spectacular, especially with the early morning mist, which made it look very eerie.
Obidos was very popular, three of the party attempted to walk the castle walls , but gave up on health and safety grounds.
We spent a great day sightseeing in Lisbon, great fun was had by all being driven by tuktuk around the sites.Trying to get back to the bus station in the evening via taxi was slightly difficult , as there was a football match on at the stadium.
O Tracadinho is certainly a gem, very friendly and the food well presented- we went there twice in a week and even came away with two jars of their chutney..We certainly will return to the area again

Could do better!

 By John Day on 08-Aug-2026

After collecting our hire cars at Lisbon airport we followed the owners instructions and rang the agent Salome. We were told the villa had already been cleaned and it was fine for us to proceed directly to the villa, albeit about an hour early. On arrival we let ourselves into the property and were very disappointed to find that the place smelled very musty. There were mould blotches on the wooden panelled ceiling in the main room and in the oven there were rusty baking trays still with food on them! Cleaning standards were obviously well below our own expectations. The owners response to our complaints, which were supported by photographs, was less than conciliatory. Leave the property within 24 hours for a full refund!! Where would be find alternative accommodation at the peak of the holiday season? Once doors and windows were opened the smell dissipated, but was there again when we returned from a day away from the villa. The games room was also a bit of a joke. A small dilapidated pool/snooker table, a table tennis table with only 1 serviceable bat and a single split ball. The dart board was magnetic! There were badminton racquets, but only half a shuttlecock to play with. On the positive side, the villa was in an elevated and isolated position but with superb views to Obidos and the coast. The pool was a good size and well maintained and the solar heating system kept it very warm. There were several sun loungers with padded covers. The villa was also very spacious but the air cooling system did little to cool the bedrooms at night and one double bedroom was not linked to the system. It will also only be switched on if you request it! Many of the towels provided were very thin and some bed linen was very stained. The general area was interesting to visit with Nazare our favourite place. Obidos is very pretty but usually very busy with tourists on day trips. We enjoyed our holiday, despite the issues, but would not return to this accommodation.

Wonderful holiday in spacious clean well maintained villa with pool

Excellent very well equipped villa and pool ; very clean and spacious; well looked after inside and out with beautiful setting amid fruit trees / apple orchard and fig and avocado tree.Views of nearby castle in Obidos and Obidos lagoon in distance . Great showers with good water pressure . Highly recommend. Loved the surrounding areas and towns such as Tomar and easy daytrip to Lisbon either by driving or busride .

Beautiful stay

 By Janine on 31-Jul-2026

We are a family of 4 (kids age 11 & 14) and had a wonderful week here. The pool was perfect - a decent size & depth and a lovely temperature. The villa is huge, so plenty of space for everyone.

Hi Janine, Thank you so much for your review, much appreciated! Kind regards, Jackie & Nick

Beautiful, comfortable, relaxing and fun

 By Charles family on 07-Jul-2026

We loved every minute of our 10 days here. The younger ones were in the lovely, warm pool every day. Rooms were clean, spacious, comfortable and really well furnished. We had everything we needed, and more. Table tennis was also very much enjoyed. The Casa is in a great location with gorgeous gardens and a lovely view. We enjoyed watching the swifts dart over the pool in the morning. Obidos is only a few minutes' easy drive away, as are two supermarkets, and the Casa was easy to get to from Lisbon. The hosts and their local agent organised things really well and were really helpful. It all made for a relaxing, chilled, special family holiday.

Fabulous Villa with stunning views and very welcoming owners

 By Dave Bateman on 09-Sep-2025

We chose this Villa because of the location and imaculate pictures that were exactly what we saw when we turned up. Jackie and Nick were great throughout. We were meeting up with my wife’s Palestinian family, probably for the last time as she is very unwell and it was such a nice cosy place to do this. Obidos was fantastic and close to everywhere. Beautiful beaches and historic surroundings. Can’t recommend enough.
