Information about the area:
Caminha
Caminha is an ancient fortress town overlooking the Minho River, rich in historical and architectural heritage. The town as a whole is highly attractive, with its manor houses and medieval defensive walls that seem to whisper old tales and legends. Highlights include the Gothic Mother Church, the charming main square with its popular cafés, the 15th-century Clock Tower, a Renaissance fountain, and the 15th-century mansion known as Solar dos Pitas, distinguished by its seven elegant Manueline windows on the upper floor.

Moledo
Moledo Beach is one of the most popular beaches along this scenic coastline and has consistently been awarded Blue Flag status. Bathed by crystal-clear waters, it is ideal for surfing, windsurfing, and bodyboarding. Facilities include showers and umbrella rentals, making it a comfortable and well-equipped seaside destination.

Vilar de Mouros
Vilar de Mouros is a charming village internationally known for its famous music festival, which attracts a growing number of young visitors each July. The festival takes place in a unique natural setting surrounded by eucalyptus trees, where the Coura River flows beneath a 100-year-old Roman bridge.

Just three kilometres from Caminha, the village is notable for its peaceful environment and for canoeing events held on the Coura River during the warmer months. Nearby, there is a mill and a small river beach popular with locals in summer. Close to the Roman bridge, along the riverbank, visitors can find the restaurant O Retiro da Ponte, a small church, and the terraced Central Café—perfect places to relax, enjoy the scenery, or read a book.

Parish Church of Caminha
Parish Church of Caminha was classified as a National Monument in 1910. This granite church combines Gothic structure with Renaissance details. Its façade features a tower and a rose window, while inside there are 17th-century tiles, gilded altars, and Manueline-style confessionals. From its surrounding walls, visitors can enjoy beautiful views over the river and the Spanish town of A Guarda.

Azenhas
“Azenhas” refers to the water mills set in an area of exceptional natural beauty, especially in summer and autumn when the falling leaves enhance the landscape. A large picnic area surrounds the mills, located just beyond the Roman bridge, about 100 meters to the left.
Although the mills are partly in ruins, the scenery remains striking and is well worth visiting. Nearby, there is also a small river beach and a footbridge currently being built to access the opposite bank where one of the mills stands. Stone tables are available for visitors, and although a small kiosk once operated here, it is now closed. In the village, there is still a pleasant café decorated with mosaics depicting a former 17th-century villa tower and surrounding landscapes.

Church of Mercy
Church of Mercy (Misericórdia) of Caminha lies in the heart of Caminha, next to the Town Hall and facing the main square. It has a single nave and Renaissance-style architecture. The interior was remodeled in the 18th century and features an altar dedicated to Saint Rita of Cascia, the town’s patron saint.
