A gem in the Med and a secret around the world; Cyprus was run by the UK for a hundred years and has been a divided country for 40-odd years, we, in the North are an unrecognised country with embargo restrictions which means we don’t have large international retailers and alike, we are self-governing with funny rules and many foibles, but we do have a very welcoming population. We drive on the left, our electric plugs are the same as in the UK, the primary language is Turkish but so many people use English extremely well, our currency is the Turkish Lira which means prices and value for money is fabulous – a large glass of wallop in pub or restaurant is about a third of the cost. There is a huge array of restaurants, very many Cypriot styled which have some delicious local dishes, for example, Kleftiko, one can find Italian, American, Indian and many more styles, lots of coffee shops and some great pubs; don’t forget the relaxing beach-bars. If you like a flutter there are a number of world-class casinos most in the very large hotels. And, yes, there is a superb golf course not far from the villa.

Things of interest, to do and explore;

• Varosha (Marash) a five-mile area of Famagusta which has been closed to all for 46 years now open for all t+o wander and wonder.
• The dam and reservoir – a huge pipeline brings fresh water from Turkey 40-odd miles under the sea.
• The new factory building electric cars – Gunsel; look it up on Google, very exciting.
• Gillhams Winery – a winery high on the mountainside overlooking their vineyards, the wines are young but exceptionally delicious.
• Bellapais Abbey – medieval, beautiful, outstanding views, history abounds.
• The Hans of Lefkosa – old trading and resting buildings, restored and now offering artisan shopping and food from super cafes.
• Salamis – a Roman ruin, an ongoing excavation project; huge.

Dearest Rowena & Steve, Well where do we stay next time? Of course here! We have been blesssed to have met you both. From the seconfd we booked to our last day, you have been amazing. During our isolation we had shopping delivered, food recommended and the most tastiest cake I ever tasted. The girls had the most amazing time it was like home from home. Layla fell in love with the Nutella cookies and Kayla enjoyed the crumbs Leyla let her have. Both Ev and I are truly grateful for everything. Such beautiful people, thank you a million times. Lots of love Pinar, Eugen, Layla & Kayla (From the UK)

Dear Ro and Steve, Thank you very much for letting us stay in your wonderful home, it was a pleasure to meet you, you made us feel at home from the very beginning. Our stay has been peaceful, relaxing, and exciting at the same time. We enjoyed the pool, the sun, the beach, the restaurants, and your delicious Lemon Cake. Thank you also for your food Rowena and for worrying about our 'legal' entry into North Cyprus. The recommended beaches were ones of the most beautiful beaches we saw, we had the chance to see shooting stars and the Milkyway. Sadly the castle was closed, I guess we will have to come back to visit it. Lossi made us also feel at home by hanging out with us in the house, by the pool, and welcoming us home late at night. Your Luxembourgish Refugees Maite, Jason, Emanuel

Dearest Rowena & Steve, Just wanted to say a big thank you to both of you, for your wonderful hospitality and generosity. We have has a home-like experience and really enjoyed our stay here although the weather was quite hot, but our girls enjoyed the pool and for our youngest, her confidence has grown in water. We were also lucky to see Losi on a few occasions. The food was the tastiest we have ever tried. We have felt quite relaxed here and would love to return here for another holiday. Thank you so much for looking after us so well. We have had the pleasure of getting to know the most wonderful people. You are doing great, keep up the good work. With best wishes and lots of love.
