Carmagnac is located near Vaux-Lavalette in the beautiful Charente countryside of southwest France. The property is easily reached by car and offers free private parking. Approximate travel times: * Angoulême TGV Station – 35 minutes * Bergerac Airport – 1 hour 20 minutes * Bordeaux Airport – 1 hour 45 minutes * Limoges Airport – 1 hour 30 minutes Detailed directions are provided after booking, and GPS navigation brings you directly to the property.
To confirm your reservation, a 25% deposit is required, with the balance payable 8 weeks before arrival. Your stay includes luxury bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi, air conditioning and end-of-stay cleaning. Carmagnac is an adults-only retreat (maximum two guests). No pets or smoking. Minimum stay: 3 nights.

Christmas

Warm, comfortable, extremely well equipped with everything we needed for a perfect break à deux - the hot tub in December was the cherry on the (Christmas) cake! plus friendly and attentive hosts with whom we shared a very pleasant aperitif on Christmas Day. We thoroughly recommend!
Short Notice
By Lindsay on 23-May-2026After spending several weeks Spain and travelling back up to Northern France we decided it was time to stop for a few nights and despite only one days notice we were very relieved that the Carmagnac just outside Montmoreau was able to accommodate us for 3 nights. This charming gite was perfect for a short break and for us to take stock. It was in a lovely peaceful location and so well equipped that we wanted for nothing. It has been renovated to a very high standard and was so very comfortable and the most well equipped rental we have ever stayed in during our 20 years of renting in France. We knew the area fairly well so no need to explore but just revisited a few favourite places. As it was very hot we just relaxed; all good for morning coffee and evening aperitifs just quietly taking in the wonderful views. We didn’t use the hot tub as it's not really our thing and weather seemed too hot for that though I suspect if we had stayed longer we may have given it a go one evening with a glass of something delicious and to watch the night sky. Jane and Richard and great hosts and whose company we enjoyed. We can’t recommend this lovely home more highly and would dearly love to return.
A hidden Gem for couples
By Willian Collyer on 15-May-2026A Hidden Gem for Couples We booked Carmagnac as a last-minute getaway and honestly couldn’t have chosen better. From the moment we arrived, everything felt calm, luxurious and incredibly welcoming. The apartment is beautifully designed and exceptionally well equipped. We’ve stayed in many holiday rentals over the years, but this was one of the few where absolutely nothing had been overlooked. The kitchen is better equipped than our own at home, the bed was wonderfully comfortable and the air conditioning was a blessing during the warm weather. What we loved most was the peace. Sitting on the terrace with a morning coffee watching the countryside come to life, then returning in the evening for a glass of wine as the sun went down, was exactly the break we needed. Jane and Richard have found the perfect balance between being attentive hosts and giving guests complete privacy. Their local recommendations were excellent and made our stay even more enjoyable. If you’re looking for somewhere special to relax, reconnect and escape the pace of everyday life, Carmagnac is exactly that. We left feeling completely refreshed and will certainly be returning.

First impressions confirm the idyllic setting in wonderful, gently-rolling countryside with plenty outside furniture options to soak up the view while only wildlife provide the soundtrack. Inside, the property is immaculately fitted out with the most comfortable furniture and every conceivable appliance, all of the highest quality. Jane and Richard have done a sterling job putting everything together. If you are looking for a genuine getaway holiday with solitude, yet only 15 mins from local services and more than enough pretty villages in under an hour, we have no hesitation in commending Carmagnac as the answer.
