Cloven Stone is a recently built cottage in the Northern Fells of the Lake District. Part of Monkhouse Hill, a multi-award winning complex of nine cottages set in 5 acres of landscaped grounds, Cloven Stone features a balcony with a hot tub with panoramic views, and comes with full access to a hotel Spa with swimming pool..
On the ground floor of this impressive five star cottage are two double bedrooms, each with a full ensuite bathroom. One of these bedrooms can also be configured as a twin bedroom. This versatile layout makes the cottage particularly suited to two couples or families with older children requiring their own bathroom.
Upstairs is a spacious living area with soft leather furniture, a log burning stove and magnificent 30 mile views across the Eden Valley. Open plan to the living area is a dining area and a fully equipped kitchen. The cottage has a flatscreen TV with DVD player, a 'Bluetooth' music player with CD and DAB, and free high speed wifi. Complementing Cloven Stone's natural stonework is a collection of Toulouse Lautrec prints, together with pieces of more local artwork and hand crafted dining furniture from 'Out of the Woods'
Walk out of the living area straight on to an elevated private balcony with your own hot tub bubbling away ready for use. The cottage also has a small patio area in the picturesque courtyard shared with the other cottages.
There is a games room on site with table tennis, pool and table football, a childrens' play area and of course 5 acres of landscaped grounds with woodland and lake features to explore. Before you arrive you can order from a host of extras, from cots and toys (all of these are free) to in-cottage catering and local beers
Whilst staying with us you have full access to the North Lakes Spa in Penrith, which has a flat-deck swimming pool, steam room and saunas, state of the art gym and a beauty treatment area.
Visit our website to see all the cottages at Monkhouse Hill, from cosy cottages for two all the way to cottages for family celebrations sleeping 12-14. Note that only Cloven Stone availability is shown on this website. Availability, prices, independent reviews and online booking for all cottages are on our own website.
There's lots of low fell and riverside walking locally, and the higher fells and well-known lakes such as Ullswater and Derwentwater are only a short drive away.
The area welcomes holidaymakers but is less 'tourist-intensive' than some parts of the South Lakes - which is still easily accessible for a visit, as is Hadrian's Wall and even southern Scotland.
We have some lovely nearby villages such as Caldbeck and Hesket Newmarket - the latter is home to Britain's first cooperative pub. A range of other pubs and restaurants are nearby, about which we provide full details and recommendations.
