The Milkshed is a multi-award-winning old stone barn which has been converted to provide luxury and comfortable holiday accommodation for up to four guests (plus cot). It is nestled in the Blackdown Hills in East Devon, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - with the market town of Honiton just a few minutes' drive and the beautiful Jurassic Coastline nearby, The Milkshed is within easy reach of numerous days out, whilst retaining the tranquillity of a countryside bolthole.

There are two bedrooms (one with kingsize bed and one which can be made up as a twin or a super-king), two bathrooms and a wonderful open plan sitting room/dining area and kitchen with Nespresso machine. The property is modern, light and spacious and is all on one level, making it accessible to all.

Special features include a wood burning stove, underfloor heating throughout and a freestanding claw bath in the master bedroom. The property is eco-friendly and both hot water and heating are provided by a state of the art biomass log-burning boiler. We also have a hot tub - perfect for star-gazing!

The private garden is large and enclosed - it includes a lawned area, herb garden and sitting area. Guests are also welcome to use our 4-acre meadow for walking, playing or simply relaxing.

One of the owners is a fully trained chef to Michelin level and is happy to provide gourmet dinners, seasonal picnic hampers or a simple welcome dinner on request so that you can sit back and relax without worrying about the cooking.

Countryside luxury

By Ambassador21283 on 28-Jun-2019

We loved this place! In fact, during our delicious 3 course meal prepared by Mark we planned our return visit.

It really is a home from home and has been the perfect spot for our first family holiday with our 6 month old son. Freddie adored trips to the pond to see the ducks (and on our last day a new set of ducklings) plus the swing under the tree.

The Milkshed is beautifully decorated giving it a real sense of luxury. Lots of extras are included to make the stay comfortable - we really didn’t have to bring much at all!

We loved the scones on arrival and the hot tub complete with countryside views to enjoy at the end of the day!

Wonderful R&R Family break

By Jemmas316 on 18-Mar-2019

We had a fantastic stay at The Milkshed on a stormy weekend in March. The accommodation is beautiful, lovely touches to make your stay more comfortable such quality bedding, comfy beds and a sofas. Lots of books and toys to keep our toddler amused and lots to see locally. The extra icing on the cake for us was the wood fired hot tub and the 3 course meal cooked by Mark and served by Katie (the owners), it was delicious and an ideal way for a romantic evening once our little one was asleep. Katie and Mark are wonderful hosts and made us feel complete at home. We hope to be back and will definitely be recommending The Milkshed to friends and family. Would also highly recommend The Pig in Combe for a lovely Sunday lunch too.

Beautiful holiday accommodation

By Deb C on 07-Jan-2019

We had a lovely week at The Milkshed to see in the new year. Fabulously fitted out & clean accommodation in a lovely location. We received a very warm welcome with very generous goodies for us to enjoy. Comfy beds, big fluffy towels, excellently equipped kitchen. Lots of attention to detail to make this a real home from home. We also pre-ordered a cottage pie for the first night, which was absolutely delicious thank you.
Lovely coastal places to visit which are so easy to get to including Sidmouth, Lyme Regis, Beer, Branscombe. Plus a trip on the trams at Seaton.
Would definitely recommend The Milkshed. Thank you so much Katie & family for a very relaxing holiday. We will be back.

Perfect cottage for a perfect holiday

By Tjh490 on 08-Oct-2018

We were lucky enough to spend a week at the Milkshed - and would go back in a heartbeat.

Even before we arrived, Katie was looking after us by meeting our grocery delivery and ensuring that it was all put away. So, when we arrived with a grumpy and tired two year old, we were able to immediately get some food in her to raise morale.

The Milkshed is a very special place (and the advantage of a wood-fired hot tub just makes it more so!). Having the run of the meadow in addition to the garden was perfect for our little one, who is still talking about it now.

Its location is very quiet and private - but fantastically situated to get to all sorts of attractions and places of interest very quickly.

Mark's cooking is divine - and we were lucky enough to enjoy one of his three course meals one evening. Perfect portions, without the worry about washing up afterwards.

If you're considering booking the Milkshed - then consider no longer. We look forward to coming back.

Perfect in every way! Food, location, hosts and accommodation all A+

By Tracey H on 07-Apr-2018

The Milkshed is a genuinely top notch experience that we would highly recommend to anyone considering booking a stay!
Not only is the accommodation immaculate and stocked with useful bits and pieces to get you started (actually more as all the tea, coffee, bathroom basic etc saw us through our stay) it is a great balance of having all the mod cons, a cosy wood burning stove, heated floors hot tub but at the same time you're in a converted milkshed - how cool is that? So much character!!
Katie the friendly and really lovely owner greeted us and gave us a quick orientation. We loved the warm feel, the spacious kitchen / living room space and the very well designed bedrooms, one with a claw foot tub which was such a nice touch. THE most delicious fresh banana bread was waiting for us on arrival and we had also ordered a lasagne and a fish pie which were amazing.
The accommodation is all on one level with no steps which was perfect for our toddler who runs everywhere - nothing to fall down. We were super impressed as there was a lovely cupboard of toys for her to play with and a bunch of books at her height so she could select for herself. It has its own garden which is self contained so safe for little ones but they absolutely don't mind you having the run of the property, using the trampoline and slide in their garden and saying hello to the chickens - our little one loved this!
Katie was super kind and even booked me a hair appointment in Honiton as we were visiting for a wedding and I didn't know the town well. She also set up the hot tub for us which was really relaxing and enjoyable.
Overall an excellent stay, great comms in the lead up to our visit and an experience we would love to repeat. Thank you for an amazing long weekend Katie and family hopefully we'll be back one day. 10/10 and A+

Fantastic property

By Anne F on 28-Feb-2018

We have just returned home from a week’s stay at the Milkshed. This was our first family holiday in Devon and we had such a wonderful time.

The property itself is fabulous. So peaceful and relaxing with beautiful views over the stunning landscape. The Milkshed is really luxurious, comfortable and the perfect setting to unwind. It has a hot tub and an on-site chef, which adds so much value compared to a standard holiday let.

Being used to city life I was a bit apprehensive about staying in the rural countryside for a week, but what’s great about staying here is that whilst you’re very much away from it; equally you’re just 5-10 mins drive from Honiton, a real gem of a village filled artisan butchers, fish mongers and bakeries.

All in all, I would really recommend staying at the Milkshed. It’s a very special holiday let in a great location. Thanks to Katie and Mark for looking after us and we hope to be back to stay again soon.

Utter Perfection

By Lauren K on 06-Dec-2017

From the first email I sent to Katie enquiring about the stay, I was convinced we had to go. I took my partner away as a belated birthday present and everything was perfect. I asked for Prosecco and balloons for when we got there and I posted a card to go in, and they had laid out a beautiful chocolate cake and huge balloons with confetti in them and a lovely bottle of prosecco all presented beautifully with the card I had sent. Everything was complete luxury. I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to brand names so when I saw John Lewis towels and a Dorma duvet I nearly wept!
Absolutely the most beautiful location, wonderful people and gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous place to stay. I cannot praise the Milkshed, Katie or Mark enough for providing the perfect holiday hideout.
If you're umming and ahhing about whether to go - do it! I promise you won't regret it.

Luxury getaway in the beautiful Devon countryside

By 608nickyf on 01-Oct-2017

The Milkshed is the perfect break, luxury accommodation set in the beautiful Devon countryside 10 minutes away from Honiton. It's in a great location which means it's easy to get to the coast and surrounding areas. The Milkshed has been lovingly furnished with a practical kitchen with all the amenities that you could wish for. Prior to our stay Katie was very helpful with information and recommendations. We were lucky with the weather and in particular we loved the hot tub, that was a real plus for us! We will visit again!
