Cottage in East Knoyle near Shaftesbury, Dorset, England - Peaceful Village Location Within 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'

This comfortable, attractive and well equipped country cottage has many original features including exposed beams and inglenook fireplace. It is Grade 2 Listed for its historic character. A cottage garden (front) and small garden with lawn (rear) which overlooks a meadow and hills beyond. This timbered property has been lovingly preserved whilst containing every modern convenience you will require. A beautiful cottage within a lovely village. We have good internet connection with unlimited use of broadband and Wi Fi, TVs downstairs and upstairs and a good quality Hi-Fi system along with blue tooth connections for steaming music from your mobile phone or tablet. Firestick provided for the streaming of films. A selection of local maps, including walking maps and a good selection of books.

Many guests from home and abroad return year after year. We always value personal contact so do feel free to get in touch with us so we can offer as much information as possible before making your booking.

We book from Saturday to Saturday during peak season but can be flexible out of season and at Christmas and New Year. We currently have this coming New Year available at a competitive price. Do e mail us or give us a ring.

Notes on bedrooms: Bedroom 1. Double bed, dressing table, bed side tables and lamps, double wardrobe/drawers, telephone. TV with viewing via internet. Bedroom 2, two single beds, wardrobe, bed side table and lamp, drawers. Additional Z bed downstairs which could provide a 5th bed. However, this fifth bed is used downstairs. Hair dryer provided and left in bedroom 1. Whilst the second bedroom is a double room with two beds it is rather tight for two adults. Fine for children and teens. Bedrooms were refurbished in 2017

We have always offered a 10% discount for bookings of two weeks or more and late bookings. The cottage will be clean on arrival. We ask guests to clean throughout before leaving. With notice, we can arrange for cleaning to be carried out after you have left. This may not always be possible during the peak seasons.However, please make the request in good time and we will seek to arrange. We do not ask for a deposit for possible damage or failure to clean properly but have always worked on the basis of trust. We have found that trust between ourselves and those staying is rarely compromised. Outside: Garden furniture (table, four garden chairs and bench). Utility Room: Washing machine/ dryer combo. Dyson vacuum cleaner, brush, mop and general cleaning materials, iron and ironing board. Bed linen, towels and tea towels included within the price. Beds will be made up before you arrive. We trust guests to clean through the cottage before leaving. There is always a large supply of logs during the winter. There is an outstanding village shop and Post Office owned and run by the village for the village. Quality provisions, newspapers and everything you may need and more. A visit to Wrens Stores is a must! As owners we love to stay in our cottage whenever we are free.
Tim is a Church of England Vicar in Surrey where we spend most of out time. During our stays in the cottage we love to walk the lanes and hills around East Knoyle with our cocker spaniel during the spring and summer time but love nothing more than and a glass of wine in front of a roaring log fire during the autumn and winter. A Charming cottage in a delightful village

Dayspring Cottage is a quintessential English Cottage located in a delightful country village. The moment you enter the cottage, with its beams, fireplace and comfortable furniture, you feel welcome. It is well equipped with bathrooms both on ground floor and first floor, a spacious kitchen and a lovely cottagey garden. The location is perfect; the village of East Knoyle has an interesting church, an extremely well stocked community run shop and the nearby 15th century Fox and Hounds pub serves excellent food. My wife and I have stayed here for the last four years and will undoubtedly be back next year!

Very beautiful cottage in East Knoyle

We had a pleasant stay at Dayspring Cottage in East Knoyle. Everything looks exactly as described. It is a wonderful place from which to explore towns like Salisbury, Winchester etc. Babs is a very friendly person and she answered all the questions we had. We would highly recommend this location. Thanks for having us, it was our escape to the country

The Perfect Hideaway

Gorgeous home away from home cottage tucked away in a beautiful little village. Spotless and well maintained with all the facilities you need including washing machine. Clear instructions and workings of the property were given and owners only a phone call away should you need them
Spent three days here in December for some peace a quiet and chill out time. We enjoyed country side walk and the local pub is only a ten minute walk. Evenings were spent in front of the open log fire. Only a short drive to some bigger towns and Stonehenge.
Would absolutely recommend a stay at this cottage and hope to be able to get back for another break soon.

Lovely cottage in a stunning village

We stayed in a lovely cottage with all the comforts needed such as dishwasher, microwave, wifi etc. The owners were very helpful and supplied all the information needed. The village is nearby Shaftesbury and close to all sightseeing places. Recommended to everyone

Fantastic Cottage and Village

Arrived in East Knoyle it is a very friendly pretty village and wonderful community shop that has very good produce and friendly staff, all unpaid which is wonderful...Dayspring Cottage was as good as i had expected, a home from home.....there was everything you would need to make the holiday perfect....cosy clean and fast wi fi....neighbours were very friendly and the garden full of birds....I put a bird feeder up and hope other holiday makers will fill it with fat balls. Sadly i had to leave a day early as my cat was taken ill and needed a dental op....I was very sorry to leave as there was so much to do in the lovely market town nearby...also the walks across the fields were great and I made friends with the bullocks that graze there...I would highly recommend this lovely holiday retreat:D

Incredibly enjoyable

Just the right thing for two middle aged American academics whose son and his friend took the train back to London after a bit, leaving us to enjoy beautiful Wiltshire. East knoyle is a scenic village with nice walks. The cottage is quaint, even though the cool weather did not allow us sitting in the lovely garden. All this, and close to the A303, with its drive right past Stonehenge. One may easily avoid the fee for Stonehenge by pulling off the westbound lane on the highway into the dirt road that passes above the landmark, as dozens of people are doing at any time.

We saw Jane Austen's, Thomas Hardy's and T.E. Lawrence (of Arabia)s' houses, attended Evensong at Salisbury and Winchester Cathedrals, and visited Bath. Then there was Lyme Regis and the coast path at Lulworth Cove. We purchased visitors English Heritage pass (not to be confused with National Trust each of which has hundreds of sites). Nearest supermarket is south in Shaftesbury, and the kitchen is large and sunny. Twas everything we could have hoped for.

Great cottage in a lovely village, all decorated for Christmas with fantastic open fireplaces, the cottage was really comfortable and homely and had everything we could have wanted, the communication with Tim the owner was excellent, all questions answered promptly and kept fully informed every step of the way. We would certainly stay here again without a moments hesitation. If you are thinking of staying here day trips within easy reach of Cheddar Gorge, Wells, bath, Stonehenge. what more could you want

A Little Gem

It was so hard to leave Dayspring Cottage today as we found it so warm and cosy. We were looking for an 'Escape to the Country' cottage and this had it all - the thatched roof, the beautiful old beams, the inglenook fireplace, the narrow spiral stairs. the cottage contained everything you would need for a holiday. the kitchen was very well equipped and the view from the window was stunning. Both the front and back gardens were full of spring colour, plus the view we overlooked a lovely rural view from the back. the village was pretty and the villagers so welcoming.

Dayspring Cottage is well positioned for visiting Bath, Salisbury, Stonehenge, Shaftesbury and the Dorset coastline.

Thank you Tim and Pauline, for allowing us to stay in your beautiful cottage. We'd love to return someday!

Have stayed at Dayspring Cottage a number of times over the last few years and it never disappoints. A wonderful place to get away to relax, walk or explore the local area whatever the weather or season.
