We have just returned from a wonderful week at Helen House. Even though the weather was inclement at times, we loved coming back to such a lovely home from home. The views of the harbour were mesmerising. Seeing different boats coming and going, sailing flotillas etc was amazing. Lovely to be able to see it either from inside the house or sitting on the balconies. The house is set on quite a few different floors so plenty of exercise going from one area to another. A steep (but short) walk down into town made it easy to enjoy a choice of many restaurants and bars. However preparing and cooking meals in the house was a joy as the kitchen is so well equipped. Probably the best I have ever stayed in. Helen House is well furnished and with a tasteful decor. The beds were extremely comfortable and we slept very well. Everything was spotless on our arrival. We were given lots of helpful advice from the owner about local restaurants, walks etc. We particularly enjoyed getting the little ferry across to Polruan and climbing up to see a spectacular view of Fowey harbour. We would definitely stay there again and am sure all future guests will have a similar 100% positive experience.
Reviewed 10 August 2020 Perfect House Helen House is a lovely house with magnificent views across the Fowey estuary. The house is upside-down, with the kitchen and living room on the top floors and the bathrooms and bedrooms on the lower floors. The house is nicely furnished and the kitchen is very well equipped with everything you could need if you decide to eat in. The views from the balconies on each floor facing the river are amazing, and I could have sat there for hours just watching the scenery. There are plenty of restaurants and pubs in Fowey if you want to eat out, however we were there during the COVID-19 restrictions, so it was difficult to get reservations in the evening. Having parking at the house is such a bonus as there is very limited parking in the town, and it is a long walk down from the car park. The town is about a 5 minute walk and the beach is about 10 minutes walk away, so all in all a pretty much perfect location. We all enjoyed staying in this stylish house close to both the town and a beach. Amazing view, very well equipped and two parking spaces too! Very helpful owners. We thoroughly recommend it.
Our family of 4 have stayed in several holiday rentals around Fowey and this property has to be our favourite and one we’ll be coming back to next summer with much anticipation. Every room is spacious, decorated with taste and has its own floor with a stunning balcony view over the estuary and Fowey town. The views in this property surpass all other houses we’ve stayed in and is one of the main reasons why we wish to come back! Meal times sat on the balcony enjoying the view are unmatched in my opinion. The finish of the house is very modern with the kitchen facilities making cooking very accessible and easy to use. There was nothing I wished we had brought as all was provided. The garage has plenty of things to keep our children entertained at the beach which we are also grateful for. George was very polite and hospitable and eager to give any advice we needed. Due to the COVID situation we were reassured that the house is deep cleaned between each visit and I can attest that was done to a very high standard. A multitude of cleaning products and hand-sanitisers were provided so that we could maintain cleanliness and hygiene. Show less Date of stay: June 2020
Helen house is immaculate, beds are comfy and it is perfectly placed, lovely views of the estuary from 2 bedrooms and the lounge. Perfect place to stay. We had a great time, would thoroughly recommend. Date of stay: September 2019
Reviewed 4 August 2019 for a stay in July 2019 Helen House is a stunning property. The decor is very tasteful, it's spacious and very high spec. We were delighted with the interior which is spread over four floors (although my elderly dad found that a bit tiring, no reflection on the property but something to bear in mind). The views from the various balconies were wonderful and most definitely the highlight for us. The house was spotlessly clean and there were lots of thoughtful touches throughout such as basic toiletries in the bathrooms and tea towels, cloths etc. in the kitchen.
