The house gets it's name from the ancient drovers road that lies in front of the house. Drovers were herdsmen that "drove" cattle to the southerly markets.
The basic form of the house echoes the tradition of the ancient local cottages. A lot of the wood was grown locally and much of the labour was from skilled local tradesmen. The house has very high levels of insulation so is very comfortable with minimal heating. Hot water and heating are provided by large solar panels and a fully automatic wood pellet boiler. The main living area is open plan so we have been careful to incorporate acoustic insulation to all the rooms and particularly the doors so sleeping kids and privacy are not compromised
Excellent! The whole family enjoyed.

Before we even arrived we were in regular contact with the owners who done everything they could to make our stay that extra bit enjoyable. Very modern in a seluded setting you cannot ask for more, for a family getaway. My wife wanted to show her Brazilian family somewhere wonderful and prayed for snow at the same time. We stayed 23rd to 27th December for a unforgettable Christmas, in which we weren’t disappointed and even got snow. My wife’s family are going to remember the uk for all the right reasons and one memory that will stay with them would be the time here. Can’t say more, other than excellent all round. Would definitely stay again and also recommend to others.

Just spent 3 days at this fabulous house with friends to celebrate a 60th Birthday. The house is very spacious, has absolutely everything you would need in the very well equipped kitchen. Lovely big dining table to seat 10 in comfort. The living space is all upstairs with fantastic views to Loch Meig & the mountains. It has a great woodburner and comfortable seating. You can access the balconie from the living area which also has outdoor furniture. Bedrooms and bathrooms are very clean & comfortable with the master bedroom having a very nice sauna. Plenty of wood for the burner is supplied and even without the fire on the house is pleasantly warm. There is ample parking at the property. Strathconon is a place of outstanding beauty a real outdoor enthusiast kind of place. Walks in abundance, hills to climb, lochs to fish and generally a great place to explore. If you are reading this and wondering if you should book just do it !! You most definately won't be disappointed. The owners Iain & Nia Fraser are very helpful and informative helping to make your stay one that you will remember. Would we all go again ..........Absolutely !!

we wanted a weekend break for our family of 6 adults an 3 under 5s and are so pleased we found this house. Plenty space for all and safe for the children . Location is perfect for walking whether you want short strolls or serious hill walks, it's literally on the doorstep . It is a beautiful remote location so make sure you pick up all necessary provisions. We had a hired hot tub which was a great addition asoecially for the grown ups when the children were in bed. Only negative was having to leave. Would have loved to stay longer and hope to return. If you like quality accommodation in beautiful highland surroundings than I doubt you will find better. Highly recommend,

Absolutely brilliant place with beautiful views and many things to do. Iain and Nia were very helpful when it came to planning out holiday and gave us a lot of advice on activities to do. The house was stunning and has lots of space, with twelve of us there there was easily room for more. It's out of the way of other buildings but not too far from Dingwall, the nearest town ( 20 mins ). Would 100% recommend to friends and family as it is such a beautiful place!
