Description

We are Rosie and John and have had our French home since 2005. We love spending time in it , making improvements, gardening and just simply enjoying the surroundings and lifestyle.
Our house is set on a hillside above the medieval village of Seillans but within easy reach of the village. It has wonderful views for miles across to the Esterels bordering the Mediterranean. The light is beautiful with some spectacular sunrises and sunsets. One can see why artists so love the south of France! Even at night the twinkling lights sparkling across from Fayence, St. Cezaire and the hills beyond look magical.
There are three bedrooms, two doubles upstairs each with wonderful views; one twin downstairs whose large window opens onto the petanque pitch under a large Mulberry tree. All bed linen is provided and mosquito nets should guests want to use them. There are also plug in mosquito repellents in each room.
There are two bathrooms, the upstairs bathroom has a bespoke shower , the downstairs one has a spacious two door walk in one. Both bathrooms have a wc and washbasin and the larger downstairs one has a heated towel rail.
The kitchen is light and airy, well equipped with all modern appliances. French doors lead out onto the terrace .The open plan dining/lounge area also has French doors leading onto this terrace which runs the length of the house giving panoramic views towards St. Cezaire, Fayence and the Esterel hills. It`s ideal for long lazy lunches!
There are board games and plenty of books in the lounge and comfortable seating for six.
A narrow pitchpine spiral staircase leads up to the mezzanine gallery which overlooks the lounge / dining area and accesses the two double bedrooms and bathroom.

The private heated pool is tiled, not overlooked, has lovely views with many shaded areas apart from the terraced surround with it`s sun loungers and parasols. The pooi is eight and a half metres by four , all one depth at 1.2 metres , alarmed as required by law and has a solar cover. Terraces with oiive trees overlook the pool providing shade. A pool company maintains it weekly.
Fig , Mulberry trees and herbs are all found in the garden for guests to help themselves to.
There are several areas for al fresco dining, on the terrace , by the pool or under the trees. We have a Weber gas barbecue by the petanque pitch. A game or two with a pre-dinner drink is a great way to start an evening!
There is parking on the private drive for 2 or 3 cars.
We think the house and garden are unsuitable for children under seven because of the terraces and steps.

Seillans is one of the four` beau village` in Provence. It offers the following;
A small but well stocked supermarket open all day from 8 am to 8 pm. Very helpful owners.
A pizza restaurant with a small outside dining area where they serve other simple food , beer and wine. A takeaway service is available and everything is freshly made to order.
Two bars /cafes serving light meals, both with outdoor seating.
A lovely cafe for light meals in a pretty setting , serving soft drinks .
A depot de pain .
Three excellent restaurants.
A number of art/ craft /gift shops including pottery, leather making and jewellery craftsmen.
Art galleries
Two hairdressers and a beauty salon.
Very helpful tourist office.
Public Petangue pitch, tennis courts and children`s playground.
On the edge of the village is a goat farm selling delicious cheese, milk , yogurt and fresh salad produce.
There are always lots of festive events during the summer including a wonderful annual two week music festival. We provide guests with a "Whats On Guide" detailing local events which we keep updated during the summer.

There are many places to visit locally such as:

within a 20 minute drive
- Mons, a delightful mountain village with spectacular panoramic views to the sea and possibly Corsica
- Lac St Cassien, for swimming, hire of pedalos and lazing on the beach
- Fayence, our local market town with lots of shops, markets and restaurants
- Bargemon, an interesting medieval village with cafes and lots of shade and an excellent art gallery.

within a 60 minute drive
- Nice, Antibes, Cannes, St Raphael, St Tropez, Frejus on the coast
- Grasse, the world centre for perfume with its exhibitions and museums
- Lac de Ste Croix

Within a 2 hour drive
- Mercantour National Park
- Gorges du Verdon
- Menton and Ventimigillia in Italy
- Aix and Avignon

We have lots of information, guides and maps at the house for you to plan your trips to explore Provence, and maybe Italy.

The perfect location and villa for a relaxing holiday in the South of France

By David Shukla on 08-Oct-2019

We stayed at this beautiful villa for 2 weeks in July 2019. The villa exceeded our expectations. It is situated up a fairly steep hill about 10 minutes walk from the centre area of Seillans. The villa is very private, quiet and secluded, with extensive grounds. Fresh figs and mulberries were plentiful! The heated pool was fantastic, and we did spend considerable time in and around the pool with the children. The villa is very comfortable, with excellent provisions. The downstairs bedroom and bathroom were perfect for us we had our elderly mum staying with us for part of the time. The veranda overlooking the hills was superb, and the views often breathtaking. The two upstairs bedrooms were accessed via a narrow spiral staircase, which was fine for us. We also enjoyed using the BBQ area outside, and the boules pitch. There is plenty to do in the surrounding area, and John and Rosie were very helpful in suggesting interesting sights and places to visit. The villa is stocked with reading material and local leaflets of relevance. There is a supermarket in Seillans, which is not too far to walk. There is a bigger supermarket a short drive away which has everything you could possibly need. We enjoyed getting fresh pastries in the morning and bringing them back to the villa. There are several very good restaurants in the village and a couple of cafe/bars. There are also some art exhibitions and a tourist office. The two local vineyards were very welcoming, and the Olive Oil estate and goat's farm (selling the tastiest cheese ever!) was also worth a visit. We don't often consider returning to the same place again, but I think we would happily return to Rose and John's villa in Seillans and continue to explore this stunning part of France and see more of what there is to offer.

Fantastic house and location!

By ellie G on 23-Aug-2018

We had a wonderful time here this summer. The owners, Rosie and John were brilliant hosts, who really cared about making sure we had the best holiday possible. They were in close contact with us throughout the booking and were really understanding and patient when we experienced problems with the payment process. They were at the house to meet us when we arrived to show us around and give us lots of advice about things to do in the area. The house was spotless and extremely well equipped. Lots of things are provided that you wouldn't normally expect, and this makes it feel very homely. We are a family of 4 and we found it to be very spacious and met all our needs. During the stay we had a small issue with the plumbing and Rosie and John dealt with it immediately. The setting of the house is perfect: just a 10 minute walk to the centre of the village, there is a steep climb at the end, but it is really worth it for the amazing views. We enjoyed eating our meals out on the terrace and relaxing by the pool which is well maintained and was a perfect temperature for cooling off. The garden is really beautiful and well cared for. We made good use of the barbeque and the petanque pitch. It is no wonder that Seillans is voted one of the most beautiful villages in France. We loved just walking around the quiet streets in the morning on our way to buy the bread, and stopping for coffee at one of several cafes. There is a good supermarket in the village. It was very hot during our stay but we still managed to get out and about, including trips to the coast and exploring nearby villages like Fayence, Grasse and Mons. Wandering around the markets and stopping off for a beer or ice cream was a favourite activity! There are endless opportunities for cycling and hiking in the area, and the owners provide lots of information and suggestions for routes. All in all this was a perfect property and location and we 100% recommend it. We would love to return one day. If you are thinking about booking, go ahead you will not regret it! Thank you Rosie and John for a wonderful stay.

A little piece of heaven!

By Linda T on 16-Aug-2018

The accommodation is first class, a tastefully restored property perfect for a family holiday. The location is breathtaking with stunning views that change during the day whatever the light. The pool is a definite bonus, almost makes it difficult to leave the property. The location is ideal, 40 mins to Frejus beach. There are many lovely villages within a 20 minute ride to investigate and enjoy. The Tuesday market at Lourges is a must for everything it has to offer. Mons is also worth a visit, you feel like you're on top of the world.Nice, Antibes, Grasse all within an hours drive. The local restaurants in Seillans are a food heaven. Rosie and John recommended the lunchtime menu at Moulin de la Camandoule (Fayence) what a joy plus a bargain at the price.
