We are Rosie and John and have had our French home since 2005. We love spending time in it , making improvements, gardening and just simply enjoying the surroundings and lifestyle.
Our house is set on a hillside above the medieval village of Seillans but within easy reach of the village. It has wonderful views for miles across to the Esterels bordering the Mediterranean. The light is beautiful with some spectacular sunrises and sunsets. One can see why artists so love the south of France! Even at night the twinkling lights sparkling across from Fayence, St. Cezaire and the hills beyond look magical.
There are three bedrooms, two doubles upstairs each with wonderful views; one twin downstairs whose large window opens onto the petanque pitch under a large Mulberry tree. All bed linen is provided and mosquito nets should guests want to use them. There are also plug in mosquito repellents in each room.
There are two bathrooms, the upstairs bathroom has a bespoke shower , the downstairs one has a spacious two door walk in one. Both bathrooms have a wc and washbasin and the larger downstairs one has a heated towel rail.
The kitchen is light and airy, well equipped with all modern appliances. French doors lead out onto the terrace .The open plan dining/lounge area also has French doors leading onto this terrace which runs the length of the house giving panoramic views towards St. Cezaire, Fayence and the Esterel hills. It`s ideal for long lazy lunches!
There are board games and plenty of books in the lounge and comfortable seating for six.
A narrow pitchpine spiral staircase leads up to the mezzanine gallery which overlooks the lounge / dining area and accesses the two double bedrooms and bathroom.

The private heated pool is tiled, not overlooked, has lovely views with many shaded areas apart from the terraced surround with it`s sun loungers and parasols. The pooi is eight and a half metres by four , all one depth at 1.2 metres , alarmed as required by law and has a solar cover. Terraces with oiive trees overlook the pool providing shade. A pool company maintains it weekly.
Fig , Mulberry trees and herbs are all found in the garden for guests to help themselves to.
There are several areas for al fresco dining, on the terrace , by the pool or under the trees. We have a Weber gas barbecue by the petanque pitch. A game or two with a pre-dinner drink is a great way to start an evening!
There is parking on the private drive for 2 or 3 cars.
We think the house and garden are unsuitable for children under seven because of the terraces and steps.

Seillans is one of the four` beau village` in Provence. It offers the following;
A small but well stocked supermarket open all day from 8 am to 8 pm. Very helpful owners.
A pizza restaurant with a small outside dining area where they serve other simple food , beer and wine. A takeaway service is available and everything is freshly made to order.
Two bars /cafes serving light meals, both with outdoor seating.
A lovely cafe for light meals in a pretty setting , serving soft drinks .
A depot de pain .
Three excellent restaurants.
A number of art/ craft /gift shops including pottery, leather making and jewellery craftsmen.
Art galleries
Two hairdressers and a beauty salon.
Very helpful tourist office.
Public Petangue pitch, tennis courts and children`s playground.
On the edge of the village is a goat farm selling delicious cheese, milk , yogurt and fresh salad produce.
There are always lots of festive events during the summer including a wonderful annual two week music festival. We provide guests with a "Whats On Guide" detailing local events which we keep updated during the summer.

There are many places to visit locally such as:

within a 20 minute drive
- Mons, a delightful mountain village with spectacular panoramic views to the sea and possibly Corsica
- Lac St Cassien, for swimming, hire of pedalos and lazing on the beach
- Fayence, our local market town with lots of shops, markets and restaurants
- Bargemon, an interesting medieval village with cafes and lots of shade and an excellent art gallery.

within a 60 minute drive
- Nice, Antibes, Cannes, St Raphael, St Tropez, Frejus on the coast
- Grasse, the world centre for perfume with its exhibitions and museums
- Lac de Ste Croix

Within a 2 hour drive
- Mercantour National Park
- Gorges du Verdon
- Menton and Ventimigillia in Italy
- Aix and Avignon

We have lots of information, guides and maps at the house for you to plan your trips to explore Provence, and maybe Italy.

The perfect location and villa for a relaxing holiday in the South of France

By David Shukla on 08-Oct-2019

We stayed at this beautiful villa for 2 weeks in July 2019. The villa exceeded our expectations. It is situated up a fairly steep hill about 10 minutes walk from the centre area of Seillans. The villa is very private, quiet and secluded, with extensive grounds. Fresh figs and mulberries were plentiful! The heated pool was fantastic, and we did spend considerable time in and around the pool with the children. The villa is very comfortable, with excellent provisions. The downstairs bedroom and bathroom were perfect for us we had our elderly mum staying with us for part of the time. The veranda overlooking the hills was superb, and the views often breathtaking. The two upstairs bedrooms were accessed via a narrow spiral staircase, which was fine for us. We also enjoyed using the BBQ area outside, and the boules pitch. There is plenty to do in the surrounding area, and John and Rosie were very helpful in suggesting interesting sights and places to visit. The villa is stocked with reading material and local leaflets of relevance. There is a supermarket in Seillans, which is not too far to walk. There is a bigger supermarket a short drive away which has everything you could possibly need. We enjoyed getting fresh pastries in the morning and bringing them back to the villa. There are several very good restaurants in the village and a couple of cafe/bars. There are also some art exhibitions and a tourist office. The two local vineyards were very welcoming, and the Olive Oil estate and goat's farm (selling the tastiest cheese ever!) was also worth a visit. We don't often consider returning to the same place again, but I think we would happily return to Rose and John's villa in Seillans and continue to explore this stunning part of France and see more of what there is to offer.

Fantastic house and location!

By Ellie G on 23-Aug-2018

We had a wonderful time here this summer. The owners, Rosie and John were brilliant hosts, who really cared about making sure we had the best holiday possible. They were in close contact with us throughout the booking and were really understanding and patient when we experienced problems with the payment process. They were at the house to meet us when we arrived to show us around and give us lots of advice about things to do in the area. The house was spotless and extremely well equipped. Lots of things are provided that you wouldn't normally expect, and this makes it feel very homely. We are a family of 4 and we found it to be very spacious and met all our needs. During the stay we had a small issue with the plumbing and Rosie and John dealt with it immediately.

The setting of the house is perfect: just a 10 minute walk to the centre of the village, there is a steep climb at the end, but it is really worth it for the amazing views. We enjoyed eating our meals out on the terrace and relaxing by the pool which is well maintained and was a perfect temperature for cooling off. The garden is really beautiful and well cared for. We made good use of the barbeque and the petanque pitch.

It is no wonder that Seillans is voted one of the most beautiful villages in France. We loved just walking around the quiet streets in the morning on our way to buy the bread, and stopping for coffee at one of several cafes. There is a good supermarket in the village.

It was very hot during our stay but we still managed to get out and about, including trips to the coast and exploring nearby villages like Fayence, Grasse and Mons. Wandering around the markets and stopping off for a beer or ice cream was a favourite activity! There are endless opportunities for cycling and hiking in the area, and the owners provide lots of information and suggestions for routes.

All in all this was a perfect property and location and we 100% recommend it. We would love to return one day. If you are thinking about booking, go ahead you will not regret it!
Thank you Rosie and John for a wonderful stay.

A little piece of heaven!

By Linda T on 16-Aug-2018

The accommodation is first class, a tastefully restored property perfect for a family holiday. The location is breathtaking with stunning views that change during the day whatever the light. The pool is a definite bonus, almost makes it difficult to leave the property.

The location is ideal, 40 mins to Frejus beach. There are many lovely villages within a 20 minute ride to investigate and enjoy. The Tuesday market at Lourges is a must for everything it has to offer. Mons is also worth a visit, you feel like you're on top of the world.Nice, Antibes, Grasse all within an hours drive.

The local restaurants in Seillans are a food heaven. Rosie and John recommended the lunchtime menu at Moulin de la Camandoule (Fayence) what a joy plus a bargain at the price.

Seillans Villa

By Robert H on 02-Aug-2018

This is a lovely villa in a very private setting. Well appointed and comfortable accommodation with great pool and outside space 10 minute walk from the beautiful village of Seillans. This place gives you all you expect from a villa holiday in the south of France with plenty of home comforts. The village and surrounding area are beautiful with loads to see and do within an hours drive. The hillside setting makes access slightly challenging but you are rewarded with spectacular views and tranquility. Truly fabulous location - the owners John and Rosie are great hosts and very lucky people!

Peaceful Relaxation

By Tracey And Peter Lumsden on 16-Jul-2018

Our second home from home. This was the sixth year running that we've stayed 'with' Rosie and John. What do we like the best? The charming, rural village of Seillans right on our doorstep? The bustling nearby market town of Fayence? The range of local markets across the area? The fantastic local wine? The nearby Lac de Saint-Cassien where you can relax by the water, on the water or in the water? Or our day trips to Monaco from Antibes? Too many to chose. Might need to come back next year!

Beautiful property with stunning views!

By Jane L on 16-Aug-2017

We had a wonderful week and the owners had put a lot of thought and care into making sure the house was well equipped and extremely comfortable. The fixtures and soft furnishings are all of a high quality. The view from the terrace is stunning and we just loved having our breakfasts and evening meals there. The pool is lovely and we enjoyed playing boules and some of the games provided plus there is a great variety of books to read and information about the surrounding area. There are lots of interesting places to visit and the music concerts in the local area were an added bonus. We hope to return one day!

Great spot for a quiet family retreat

By Neil C on 08-Aug-2017

This property will appeal to you if you are looking for a comfortable house with a great pool and yard that is completely private. It is close enough to the Riviera that you can visit for a day trip. The owners are gracious and thoughtful.

The beautiful village of Seillans (5 minute walk) is small enough to be easy to get around in walking, but big enough to have a few good restaurants and shops. The larger town of Fayence is 8 or 9 minutes away by car; it has many shops and restaurants.

Our family of 2 adults and 3 teenagers spent a fantastic week here.

Lovely house with breathtaking views!

By Ciara C on 03-Aug-2017

The house is very tastefully decorated and full of provencale charm. Rosie and John gave us a warm welcome and provided plenty of information on things to do in the area. However, we all enjoyed relaxing by the pool in the peaceful surroundings so much that we didn't venture out as often as we had intended and made good use of the BBQ facilities, well-equipped kitchen and books! The children especially enjoyed the heated pool and the petanque/boules court while their grandparents enjoyed taking in the beautiful views from the terrace.

Wonderful Views

By Ed T on 27-Jul-2017

This really is the most wonderful setting imaginable and the photos do not do the setting justice. the view from the terrace is absolutely stunning going all the way to the Esterel mountains which must be at least 20 miles away. This is a very private house and you really do get a sense of peace and seclusion. The pool is beautiful and kept at a lovely temperature and it is very difficult to not be relaxed here.

The inside is comfortable and clean with mosquito nets in the bedrooms so you can keep the windows open on the hot summer nights. John and Rosie were very welcoming and made the process very easy. They clearly want their guests to have as good a holiday as possible.

Seillans itself is a very attractive village and there are plenty of excursions in the nearby area which is very beautiful. All in all, an absolutely wonderful holiday home which is very difficult to fault.

Fantastic Views of Provence with lovely pool

By Martin I on 10-Jul-2017

Rosie and John's house was just what we were looking for. We wanted a relaxing holiday in Provence with lovely views and a pool to cool off in. The house was immaculately clean, as was the pool. We didn't venture far due to the heat but enjoyed playing boules in the garden and wandering around the lovely village of Seillans where there are plenty of great places to eat. We also took in a couple of concerts at the annual music festival. The bedroom fans were essential as it stayed very warm at night. We would love to visit again when it is cooler to explore more of the surrounding area.

An Oasis of Calm with a View

By Mark H on 09-Aug-2016

Set on the edge of Seillans in an elevated position it would be hard to find a better accommodation locally that is still accessible to the village by foot. Excellently maintained, clean and equipped property. Sufficient space for family of 4-5, with large grounds, good sized swimming pool, bbq and amazing terrace for dining, reading, chilling or simply enjoying the view. Owners very attentive to our needs in preparation for our trip. Plenty to do locally, be it a trip to the coast, a visit to hilltop villages, hiking, cycling, a dip in the lake or an outing to the Gorges du Verdon. Recommended.

A Lovely Property

By Marc S on 03-Aug-2016

The house and pool were very much enjoyed by us and our 3 children. The children loved playing in the pool, while in the evenings it was relaxing to sit and enjoy a glass of wine on the terrace. I would recommend this property to both couples and families alike.

A Wonderful Place!

By Georgina R on 02-Jul-2016

From our initial enquiry in the depths of winter until we arrived at the property, the owners were so helpful and kind giving us information and helping us to plan our trip.

The house and location are beautiful and if you like to retreat for a bit of peace this is the place for you. The view was breathtaking and it was so peaceful. The pool is a great size and is well maintained. Our two boys are 6 and 8 and they loved swimming in the pool or kicking a ball around the grassy terraces, playing badminton and gecko searching. We all did a lot of reading in the shade of the olive trees.

It was very convenient to be able to walk down the hill to the village to get fresh bread in the morning or have an early evening drink and watch the masters playing Boules in the square. We did lots of trips to local markets, beaches and the lake. The information folder in the house was a brilliant source to help plan our days. We don't mind driving a bit to reach good places so for us the house was a perfect base which also allowed us some relaxing days by the pool if we felt like it. There are lots of good supermarkets on the main road so it was simple to get provisions there and at the markets. We tended to cook at the house rather than eat out but this was easy as the kitchen is really well equipped.

The beds were comfortable and it was great to have the fans for the hotter nights and mosquito nets - the owners had thought of everything! There were even cool blocks in the freezer to use for picnics!

The manager was very helpful and communicative so if there were any problems we knew we had backup locally.

All in all I cannot fault this place - we had an idyllic family holiday and would love to return another year. Thank you Rosie and John.

Absolutely Perfect!

By Libby H on 29-Jun-2016

This is the perfect holiday location for us. A wonderful location, stunning views, private and a property that delivered more than we could have wished for.

From the first inquiry Rosie and John were extremely helpful, providing lots of useful information about the house, location, travelling in from the airport etc. The house is wonderful, clean and everything is very well maintained.

The best recommendation we can give is that we are definitely returning to enjoy another wonderful holiday.

Thanks Rosie and John for sharing your special place with us.

Great Family Holiday

By Cbeeby on 22-Aug-2013

A well equipped and well situated house, on a hill above the town with wonderful views to the mountains near the coast. The website details and photos were well picked and accurately reflected the house and gardens. The house was welcoming (the owners were there to meet us), clean and in very good order. It comfortably accommodated the three members of our family plus the three friends who came to visit for a few nights. It is a short walk down the hill to the boulangerie in the village each morning to buy croissant for breakfast. Then a day by the pool with a barbeque lunch. The pool is a good size and, again, the views are lovely. As an alternative, a thirty minute drive to Ste Maxime which is our favourite bit of coast. Near Ste Maxime there is a great choice of beaches, many private with great restaurants; it is then only a 10 minute ferry ride to St Tropez. Apart from the coast there are a huge number of places to visit including Grasse which, despite two holidays in the house, we have not found time to visit. There is a lake close by and the Gorge de Verdon is a short drive. Seillan is one of a series of villages perched on a ridge. All are ancient, very pretty and well worth exploring.

The choice of restaurants in Seillan is a little limited but all are very good, especially the 'Gloire de mon Pere' set in a lovely square with a fountain. A short drive takes you to Fayence which has a good variety of eateries.

We believe it offers good value accommodation in our favourite bit of France.

Wonderful!

By Gocoli on 21-Aug-2013

We (my wife and I with 3 grown up children) loved it. It really is as good as it looks in the photos.

A comfortable, very well maintained property with lots of personal touches, a lovely pool, and stunning views south towards the Esterel hills. The English owners were based in a nearby town over the summer and more than happy to ensure that everything was as it should be.

It's a place where we could get away from it all but still be in easy walking distance of the town with bakery, restaurants, post office etc. There was plenty to explore locally around the hill-top villages of Var, and the coast was within easy reach, particularly around Frejus. We also spent a memorable day further afield on the Riviera, taking the modern tram into Nice from the north side and then catching the train from Nice to Monte Carlo.

I'd echo the owners' comments on the website that it's really not suited to toddlers or the less mobile elderly. And be warned that many roads in this area tend to be, unsurprisingly, narrow/steep/windy (!), but that's part of the undoubted beauty of this place.

Peace and Tranquillity in Provence

By Lumsden Family on 27-Jun-2013

This property surpassed our expectations. The views were spectacular and the location perfect for a peaceful family holiday. The property was spotless, well equipped and very well maintained. The owners were welcoming, very helpful and knowledgeable about the area, which enhanced our stay as we got to know about local festivals and attractions that we may otherwise have missed.

The property is ideally located for exploring this area of Provence.

Having recharged our batteries we returned home and immediately booked again for next summer - we would definitely recommend this property to friends and family.

The View will never leave you .

By Richard H on 21-Jun-2013

We stayed here (My wife and I and our son (6 yrs old) for a week. We were blessed with the weather and also blessed after extensive searching for holiday lets to come across this one.

Nothing about the property was a problem. But, if I have to give a negative to be constructive it would be the spiral stairs wouldn't be suitable for the elderly or the young. But, again, this isn't really an issue as this also a downstairs twin room and bathroom adjacent if required.

The hosts we very helpful both before and during the holiday. Couldn't have asked for more.

The pool, gardens, petanque court, view, the house itself, the village were all spot on.

Put simply, I couldn't recommend this any more.

Enjoy....
