Located in Stocksbridge near Holmfirth, nestling at the edge of the Pennines and the Peak District is Unsliven Bridge Farm. Originally a large Farmhouse and barn built in the 1600’s. This property has now been converted into a luxury holiday cottage, retaining its original stone exterior, wooden beams and window seats. With many spacious rooms and plenty of outdoor spaces with enclosed garden and separate meadow, which has little don river meandering through its grounds. It is an ideal cottage for celebrating special occasions.

This attractive cottage is within walking distance of Underbank Reservoir, which is a circular walk passing Underbank activity centre and Ye Olde Mustard Pot Pub. Outdoor activities can be taken part in at the activity centre and the pub offers a great lunch time or evening meal.

Stocksbridge itself has a number of shops and pubs and a friendly market every Sunday on Saunders Street. Stocksbridge retail park has some lovely restaurants and bars, shops and a gym. Close by is also the quaint picturesque village of Holmfirth which was the set to the famous series "Last of the summer wine". Take a Last of the summer wines bus tour or visit Sid's Cafe. For children why not visit the award winning Cannon Hall Farm, home to Cows, Goats, Sheep and Shire Horses. There is plenty to do here including the 2 large outdoor playgrounds, sand pit and reptile house.

Only 10 minutes away from the Peak District National Park, this cottage is a great base for anyone who loves long rambles or cycling across breathtaking open countryside.

Property Details

Living Kitchen Area
Wine and dine under the wooden beams with your family and friends in the well-equipped kitchen at the large dining table, perfect for hosting those special occasions. This huge space has a finely built spiral staircase in the centre of the room allowing the seating area to still be part of the kitchen, keeping everyone close and connected. French doors open out on to the front garden and are great to open on warm summer days. So, whether your cooking or relaxing this space has something for everyone.

Living Spaces
This characterful room retains its impressive original stone fireplace, which fills the living room wall floor to ceiling. Sit back and unwind on the comfy sofas in front of the fire. A quiet corner of the house to escape to after a family meal or on a winter evening, if you fancy a board game with family and friends or to read a book

Bedrooms and Bathrooms
Whether you’re looking for a family or cosy room you will be spoilt for choice with 7 delightful bedrooms and bathrooms to choose from in this spacious cottage. With the bedrooms been on 2 separate wings of the house this gives guests ample space within the cottage. Most rooms have charming window seats nestled within the old stone walls. With 4 bedrooms opening up into the eaves of the cottage, showing off the original oak beams, making them even more spacious.

Entrance and Utility
The cottage entrance has a plenty of space for muddy boots and hanging coats. The utility provides 2 washing machine, tumble dryer, 2 large freezers and practical space away from food prep areas.

Games Room
To entertain the competitive members of your family the games room offers great entertainment with an air hockey table and table tennis. This large room has a sofa, bean bags and a TV. Although the TV does not have an aerial connection please feel free to bring your own console equipment and games.

Garden and Grounds
With South facing gardens you can enjoy the sun all day long, day dream whilst gazing over the flower beds and watching the wildlife visiting the feeders. You will soon have the ducks joining you for dinner, whilst the garden birds sing you a merry tune. Whether laying on the grass, sitting on the garden furniture or picnic tables in the meadow, cooking on the BBQ or relaxing in the hot tub the garden/meadow has lots to offer for a large family or friends. If the older children require more space for their fun and games, they can venture down into the meadow where both sides of the river can be explored. Please supervise children at all times.

The games room was very useful to keep 3 competitive teenagers amused and there was plenty of space for a group of 8 people to relax in comfort. All-in-all a very relaxing and refreshing trip

Absolute fantastic place. Kitted out to high end quality. Nice location. Plenty of parking. We had a party of 14 and we didnt get under each others feet. On first impression cost may sound expensive but broken down between couples it was well worth it for the value.

As a family group of 15 (aged from 8 to 73), we have just returned from celebrating our 50th Wedding Anniversary in this fabulous property.

By Mrs Green on 12-Nov-2019

It by far exceeded all our expectations. Lisa met us on our arrival and was very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The property was immaculately clean with top quality fixtures, linen, and furnishings, and a fully equipped kitchen to die for. The attention to detail was second to none and absolutely everything had been thought through. As it was quite a wet weekend, the games room was put to good use by both children and adults, and the hot tub was also a huge success. We do not hesitate in recommending this barn – it is perfect in every way, and we hope to return in the not too distant future.
