Maison Augros is a four-bedroom gîte with :
Upstairs : Four bedrooms; a master double room with en-suite shower room, a second double bedroom, a twin bedroom and a bedroom with bunk beds. A cot or small child's bed can be added in the master double, and either or both twin beds can be substituted with cots if requested. It also has a family bathroom with bath & over-bath shower.
Downstairs : Open-plan kitchen/diner and separate living room. The kitchen has an electric oven & 5-ring gas hob, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, etc. The living area has comfy sofas, UK satellite Freeview TV/French TNT TV, books, games, and tourist info. There is unlimited free Wi-Fi (who can live without it these days?!).
Outside, there is a decked area and private garden with BBQ & table & chairs.
Beyond the back garden you’ll find our glorious 10mx5m heated pool, and just beyond this is the play area for children, then over an acre of open garden for your children to play (if you can drag them out of the pool!!). As well as swings, a slide and trampoline, we provide a sports net and lots of racquets & balls for anyone who’s feeling energetic. Because we’re the last property on the lane, there are no passing cars (just the occasional tractor), and we’re surrounded by fields of sunflowers or maize and an oak wood.
Our location is peaceful and rural, with a pork butcher and cognac & pineau distillery within walking distance, a bakery, a general store and a seasonal al-fresco restaurant in a village 4 miles away, and a different restaurant in a village 3 miles away.
With over ten years’ experience of welcoming guests to our holiday rental properties here, we can offer lots of help & advice and to help you plan your days out, we have prepared a book of our own recommendations of where to go & what to see, and how best to enjoy this beautiful area, depending on what kind of day out takes your fancy. Because we live on site, we’re usually on hand if you need us for any kind of advice, and we have teenage daughters who are only too happy to offer their babysitting services for a small fee, should you fancy an adults-only evening (or daytime!!).
We have 4 gîtes on site, and host an (exceptionally good-value!) barbecue on Saturday evenings during school summer holidays to allow our guests to get to know each other, and for all the visiting children to meet & play – once everyone gets together and the pineau, wine and beers start to flow, you’ll feel your relaxing holiday getting off to the perfect start.
Pleasant stay in a quiet location
By Michael T on 21-Oct-2016
We were made to feel very welcome and really nothing was too much trouble. The facilities were excellent, the gite was clean and had everything we needed and more. We particularly enjoyed the pool and having a BBQ each evening in our secluded garden. We found the tourist pack very informative and planned a few trips out based on the details provided. I would definitely recommend a stay here. A car is needed as it is quite remote, but that was part of the attraction for us.
Our Amazing mini moon at Maison Augros!
By Dominic A on 18-Sep-2016
Tucked away in a gorgeous and remote area, near Bordeaux is the sleepy town of Vibrac. A stones throw from the main crossroads is a smallish complex of farmhouses, and this is where our story begins.... Pretty soon after booking through OD, we were contacted by Lisa to inform us of a change to our accommodation for the better. We were furnished with telephone numbers, directions (and a map), as well as welcoming words for our impending arrival.
We drove down to the gites, and had we not been informed by Lisa prior to setting out it would probably have taken us a while longer from Calais - very clear directions.
Our stay.. Was amazing. The place was immaculate when we arrived, with lovely touches of personalisation throughout. We picked a particularly hot week to go to the south of France but fortunately there were fans in every room. The buildings themselves are old stone built and so have thick walls insulating the heat but also trapping the cold indoors, and so no air conditioning was required. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you could want/need to cook with! Moving to the rear we found a lovely private garden with BBQ, and past that.... A heated shared pool! The pool was the real plus here, with 35degree heat daily and the pool warmed to 29degrees, a quick dip ensured rapidly cooling.
Our neighbours were pleasant, and kept themselves to themselves, and we did not feel at any point that we were sharing the pool with them - it was so non-intrusive.
We loved our stay so much, we are planning to return in 2017. Costs are reasonable, conditions were excellent, what more could you want!
Thank you to Lisa and family for making our stay exactly what we wanted and we'll see you again soon.

I live locally and asked friends to recommend somewhere for visiting family to stay. I was looking for somewhere they could stay together but they werent here for long and not all for the same amount of time so I couldn’t find anywhere for them to stay together that yhey didn’t have to pay the full price for the whole time. I met Lisa & she offered us Maison Augros based on the number of people & nights they stayed, which I though was very kind and perfect for my family. The kitchens quite big so we could all meet up & eat in the garden because there’s enough space outside for 10.
I love this area because I live here, but cam on holiday lots of times before we moved over and there are loads of places to go and things to do, one of my neighbours is from Paris with a holiday home here, and Charente is famous as a holiday area.
Ian & Lisa were very accommodating, not minding my noisy nephews and there were other familys staying so the boys had other kids to play with which meant the adults could just relax and enjoy. I can certainly recommend you come and stay here, next time we have family members who want to visit, this will be the place.
Beautiful property in a wonderful location

This property was as described, lovely countryside location with pretty towns nearby. Perfect for a relaxing holiday with days out sightseeing.
Recommended to us we booked at very short notice. This wasn't a problem for the owners but good for us as we were put into a much larger gite (the only one left).
I'm recommending this place to everyone I know.

Really enjoyed our break at Mason Augros, it was great for getting together with my brother & his family who live in Madrid, practically half-way for both of us.
The kids loved the pool, even my nephew who's Spanish through & through but the pool water was warm enough for him. Some of the kids attractions weren't open because the French kids were at school, but we still found lots to do - a day trip to the beach was a long way (about an hour) but well worth it, the beach was huge & he kids had a great time playing and running around.
The house worked well for us, enjoyed the deck at the back, and we might even meet up here again in the future.

First time in france and what a perfect place to start, gite had everything we needed and the kids loved the pool and grounds to run around. Loads to do in the area, the boys loved the activities in Jonzac and the lake at montguyon is a really nice day out. Ian and lisa were perfect hosts and I would highly recommend staying here.

This property was spotless, extremely well furnished and had everything we wanted. The owners were also really friendly and helpful.
“Quiet location, fantastic pool”
By on 22-Aug-2013
Our two weeks flew by. Pool was absolutely fantastic for our two young girls. The pool was used every day. Ian and Lisa have provided all you would require for your holiday. We all had a great time. This area of France is beautiful.
“Friendly rural holiday home”
By Paul & Claire on 13-Sep-2012
We stayed at Chez augros during the last 2 weeks in august with our combined families. The accommodation was very well equipped and the swimming pool kept the children entertained. The owners Lisa and Ian were very helpful and hospitable and made our stay very comfortable, willing to lend beach mats etc to help with visits to the beach. The local area has plenty to offer, we explored on bikes, and also enjoyed trips to the local lakes and town of Jonzac. The beach at Royan is an hour away, but well worth a visit, Large gently shelving beach which is ideal for families. All in all, the children enjoyed themselvesimmensely (made good friends with Lisa and d Ian's daughters) and that made the holiday a lot easier for the adults, great place to stay and get away from it all.
“Nice relaxing stay”

A very well equipped property with easy access to the pool. Excellent information on where to go and what to see. Ian and Lisa were very helpful and we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay!

This is a fantastice place to stay.
Lisa and Ian made us very weloome and the accommodation was first class. The property has been well renovated and the finish in our gite was excellent. It is also well equipped inside and included our own garden space and barbecue.
A welcome pack was provided and it was great not to have to go shopping as soon as we arrived. Also nothing was too much trouble for Lisa and Ian. We just had to ask and they did everything they could to help us.
The pool was also a lovely facility and it was a great place to spend some time. It was great that my daughter could spend time here and she swam on her own for the first time without armbands. There are also lots of games for the kids and even a trampoline which my daughter loved.
Maison augros is also set in beautiful countryside with so much to see and do.
It all made for a holiday that we will never forget.
“A genuinely warm welcome!”
By on 16-Sep-2011
Ian, Lisa and family make every effort to ensure you have all that you need for a good holiday. They are totally relaxed and you have no need to worry about anyone breaking anything or using the wrong towels for the beach. The swimming pool and orchard are absolutely ideal for kids and the gite has been really thoughtfully furnished and kitted out. We had a really lovely time.
“Get away from it all with your friends”
By on 27-Apr-2011
My best friend & I took our families away together last year and this was the perfect place to stay - the kitchen is easily big enough to cook for 8, and the beds are very comfortable. Lisa and family were very helpful and gave us lots of tips about places to visit & take the kids. Chilling out in the evenings on the rear deck with a glass of wine while the kids had a last swim was lovely - just what we needed.
“Great family holiday”
By on 23-Apr-2011
We had a lovely week with Ian & Lisa and their girls. The location is very peaceful but there's plenty to do. This isn't a place you could come to without a car, but there are so many lovely places less than an hour away we were spoilt for choice. Brilliant!
“Wonderful family holiday”
By on 17-Apr-2011
We visited last summer with my brother's family and the property was ideal - eating out on the deck each evening was a real treat, and we had to drag the kids out of the pool to go sight-seeing!! There are lots of things to do close by - we particularly loved the local lake - and we also took a trip to the water park near Bordeaux - over an hour away, but a brilliant day out. We werw able to relax because the kids were occupied outside by themselves most of the time, a real treat for a working mum!
A wonderful setting, and Lisa & Ian couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. We'll certainly be back.
