Ski-in-ski-out, 1 minute run on piste to bars, restaurants etc. Good for novice and children because nursery slopes are in front of a forest so no skiers can run through nursIn Sainte foy Off Piste paradiseery slopes. Child care is also available. Intermediates have a good mix of red and blue runs. A safe off piste itinerary with a guide is to the listed village of Le Monal that takes 2 hours. For experts there is the world famous Fogliatez off piste itinerary 1700 metres of vertical decent. New bar whiplash has live music and dancing until the early hours.
Review from client who holidayed 11 to 18 February
We were a group of 4 adults and 6 children (ages 9-15).
Col du Mont is in a prime, possibly the best location in Sainte Foy. It is truly ski in ski out and has direct access to the first chair lift. There are beautiful views over the village and mountains.
The chalet is very luxurious, spacious, clean and thoughtful laid out with comfortable beds, sofas, dining area and a very well stocked kitchen. There is plenty of storage space and the separate boot/ utility room for storing skis and boots was very useful.
We made home cooked meals, froze them and brought them with us as we didn't want to cook on holiday. We took one meal out to defrost each morning before going ski ing for the day, popped it in the oven while we relaxed in the sauna and had showers and then the meal was ready.
The kids enjoyed baking a different cake/ pancakes each day.
No chalet host required when self catering is that easy!
Sainte-Foy is a bit of a hidden gem. Once discovered families often return year after year. It is a very friendly place and very safe for children. We were happy to let our kids ski by themselves, go to the shops by themselves etc. It is an excellent resort for families and for groups with mixed abilities of skiers as there is a good variety of pistes and a huge amount of off piste areas all within close proximity so it is easy to meet up with your group for the next run or a quick break!
If you fancy a change from skiing, you could try snow shoeing. We rented snow shoes and followed well sign posted routes through the forest. (detailed maps are available at the tourist information office)
The mountain cafe/restaurants are lovely and great for a quick coffee and snack or a substantial lunch.
The owner Nick is very friendly and replied quickly to our enquiries.
I would thoroughly recommend Col du mont
