Description
A most attractive 2 bedroom villa situated in the peaceful San Nicholas area of La Herradura on the beautiful Costa Tropical. Recently completely refurbished the villa has both downstairs and upstairs living rooms and adjoining terraces as well as a separate study. There is parking available within the grounds as well as outside the villa which is 50 minutes drive from Malaga airport and 60 minutes from Granada. La Herradura remains an unspoilt and tranquil Spanish village with a variety of restaurants and nearby sporting activities such as golf, sailing, windsurfing, scuba diving, horse riding, walking, fishing, tennis as well as skiing in the Sierra Nevadas some 1.5 hours drive. easy walk to pueblo and beach.The villa is beautifully tiled throughout, however, care should be taken at all times to avoid slipping around the pool and lower terrace area. We strongly advise all guests to take out comprehensive holiday insurance to cover any accidents, flights, illness etc. We have air conditioning in both bed rooms, as well as the sitting room upstairs and downstairs. These units can be used to provide heating in the cold weather. There is also a chiminea/wood burning stove (wood provided) and a new calor gas fire in the downstairs sitting room. Outside: Large private pool (8 x 5 metres) and garden with tables, chairs and sunbeds, and gas barbecue. Upstairs terrace with easy chairs, great for a G and T in the evenings! Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen and towels supplied, please bring own pool/beach towels. Property cleaned at beginning/end of 2 week let (weekly clean available at additional cost). Other: Upstairs lounge with double sofa, chair and coffee table. If cancellation occurs less than 4 weeks before scheduled arrival date, then 50%
of the total fee will be forfeited. Cancellation less than 2 weeks before will result in full forfeiture unless the villa is re-let for the period. A security deposit of £100 is required. This will be added to the final payment of 70% and will be refunded at the end of the holiday, provided no breakages or damages have occurred.

Peaceful break
By Fiona DR on 19-Jul-2026We had a fabulous holiday, the villa was a home from home with everything you needed and more. It is one of the coolest properties we have stayed in in the height of summer and air conditioning wasn’t always needed. The pool was a lovely size and deep enough to shallow dive, the grounds and plants lovely and well maintained. The kitchen though a little compact for extensive cooking, had everything needed and the welcome groceries were much appreciated. The location afforded wonderful views of the bay and once we were used to driving up the hill and the tight parking it was fine. For the size of La Herradura, we were pleasantly surprised by the variety and choice of bars and restaurants, most were good value. It was nice that many still offered a tapa with a drink which has long since died out the other side of Malaga. All in all a relaxing and restorative break, if you want English bars and bustle it’s probably not ideal, plus if you prefer a sandy beach. The booking and communication from the owner was second to none, hassle free from start to finish. We hope to return.
Our Stay at San Gonzalos
By Richard & Carolyn Benson on 04-Oct-2025San Gonzalos is an absolute gem of a villa tucked away in a very quiet estate San Nicholas. The view from the upstairs veranda is stunning, giving a whole panorama of La Herradura which in its self is beautiful. The villa is well equipped and has ample space for everyone. The pool is an absolute gem on those hot days and warm afternoons. The welcome back is just what you need when a full day of travelling is over ! The pool and garden are expertly maintained and the guy is uber friendly. The booking was so easy and David was a joy to work with ! Cannot recommend this villa enough it is by far one of the best villas we have stayed in !

By Stephen and Sandra hickey on 12-Sep-2025We are just back from San gonzalos, the house is beautiful and has everything you need, the pool & garden are loving and well kept, very quiet and relaxing, especially the balcony with sea views and super comfy seats, it is close to the beach and the marina is a short drive, it was so relaxing and home from home that we booked it again for next year, owner David was very helpful and nothing was a. Problem.

Absolutely Perfect

I'm half Spanish and have spent quite a lot of time in Spain, however hadn't ever explored the Costa Tropical or the foothills of the Sierra Nevada and we did exactly that having booked to stay at San Gonzalos. We are only a family of three and our daughter was 3 years old at this point, we couldn't have picked a more perfect property or location. Absolutely loved the property and you could easily be very comfortable here as a family of five or six. We went at the beginning of May, weather was beautiful and we had a fantastic time, Pool was a little cool, actually perfect for swimming lengths, but a little cold to be just playing with the little one. This didn't stop her, she had us in playing at least twice a day! La Herradura is lovely, we didn't spend much time here though, as we went and explored different areas and Pueblo's every day, even got level with the snow at the highest point we could get to. Nerja is a very short drive and a very different beach/resort to La Herradura, however our afternoon in Competa was my personal favourite. The owners are a pleasure to deal with and also very helpful, they're choice of car hire company was also the best deal I could find. Thank you and hopefully we'll be back again. :)
Superb stay
By Andy on 27-Jul-2025Fantastic stay here for a week. The villa is in a great location within easy walking distance to the beachfront, restaurants, and shops of La Herradura. The walking return journey features a steep incline but only for a few minutes and you're rewarded with excellent views of the bay. There is a dedicated parking space at the villa too, if driving. Accommodation was ideal for our family of 3, plenty of space and all amenities we needed. Spotlessly clean and well maintained. Our son spent most of the week in the swimming pool which made the holiday for us: well looked after, nice size, cleaned twice during the week. Great communication with the owner throughout and nice touch of a welcome gift on arrival. Thank you!

Good stay
By Mike on 25-Jul-2024As a family of four we had a really good stay. Communication with the owner very straightforward and prompt. The villa is clean, well equipped, in a good location, very peaceful, sun all day (with plenty of shade when needed), nice pool and modern kitchen. The only minor issues we had were ants, in kitchen and bathroom, but largely standard in southern Spain and relatively easy to keep in check with the right aerosol! And a few people parking close to the gate making in/out manoeuvres tricky on a few days. La Herradura is lovely and we’d definitely stay again.
