Salobreña and the surrounding area:
Known as the 'Jewel' of the Costa Tropical, Salobreña offers beautiful beaches, restaurants, shops, old-town picturesque streets, a Moorish castle, a 16th century Gothic style Mudéjar church, an archaeological museum and regular markets. The two main beaches have numerous chiringuitos (beach restaurants), with live Flamenco performances during the summer. The town also has a tourist information office, a bus station and a taxi rank.
The Alpujarras mountains and their attractive villages are within an hour's drive, while the Aqua Tropic water park near Almuñécar is around 30 minutes away.

The Perfect Getaway
By Anna Penrose on 14-Aug-2026We’ve just returned from an 11-night stay at this beautiful villa, and it was absolutely amazing – exactly what we were looking for. From the moment we made our initial enquiry right through to the day we left; the owners were incredibly helpful. They gave us fantastic advice and recommendations about the villa, the location and the surrounding area, and were always quick to respond to any messages. The managing agents during our stay were also brilliant – nothing was ever too much trouble, and they were always on hand if we needed anything. The villa itself is simply stunning. It’s one of those special places where, the minute you walk through the front door, you immediately feel relaxed. It has such a wonderful, peaceful atmosphere – somewhere where you can immediately switch off. It is very well equipped, with everything you could possibly need, from kitchen utensils and BBQ equipment to bath towels and beach towels. The views are simply breath-taking, with beautiful sea views from every room. There are also so many wonderful spaces to relax, whether you’re by the pool or enjoying one of the numerous terraces – perfect for sitting back, taking in the views and simply chilling out. The location is wonderfully peaceful and quiet, while still being conveniently close to everything you need, with the nearest supermarket around a 10-minute drive away. We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better stay. In fact, it’s the only place we’ve ever stayed where we booked to come back again next year before we’d even left this year! We absolutely loved our time here and cannot wait to return.

Stunning views and a truly relaxing stay
By Leigh Wells on 27-Jul-2026We’ve just come back from a fantastic stay at Villa Tranquilidad, and it really does live up to its name. The views are the first thing that hit you — mountains on one side, the sea and Salobreña on the other. Whether we were sitting out on the terrace, in the pool, or just wandering around the place, the scenery was always incredible. The villa itself feels like being at home, but better, if that makes sense! The kitchen has absolutely everything you could need — spices, oils, utensils, all the bits you need and we’ve had to buy in other places. The bedrooms are huge and the beds extremely comfortable with loads of space, even with the sofa bed set up, and the outdoor areas are brilliant. The top patio is perfect for evening games, the pool is a good size and deep enough for the kids to jump and dive in, and the sunbeds make it easy to drift between sunbathing and cooling off. The drive up the hill from the main road takes 8-10 minutes but once you’re up there, the peace and the views are worth it. Location wise it is an easy hop along the coast and to Granada, and the Alhambra is absolutely worth the visit. We spent a day there and were glad we did. The only thing that didn’t quite work for us was the local beaches, which were a bit shingly, and the snorkelling, key for my family, wasn’t the best. But honestly, everything about the villa was amazing. It’s a beautiful, relaxing place to stay, and we’d happily recommend it to anyone. A special mention goes to the owners, who were incredibly helpful from the moment we booked — always on hand and closer to the time giving us tips about local markets, snorkelling spots, and even the best places to park when heading into town — and to Ian from Totally Tropical, who looks after the property so well; it was great having someone nearby for advice when needed, never intrusive, just reassuringly present, and the urbanisation’s shared pool, tennis courts and bar are also well worth a visit.
