Torrevieja is a typical modern Spanish town, has a local craft market every day, nice to wander round. Torrevieja has some marvellous walks, one of which is a good walk for very warm days as the walk is on top of the harbour walls and so enjoys the breeze off the sea. There is also a great selection of cafe-bars, just great to enjoy a coffee and watch the world go by.
Fifteen minutes drive away is the area of Los Altos. A lovely quiet area, well served with shops and supermarkets etc. Hire a car and from Los Altos drive for 10minutes and you are in rural Spain. There are some lovely little villages to discover. If walking is your first love, then walk along the cliff tops from Punta-Prima down towards Campoamor and enjoy the truly magnificent views of the rugged coast line and beaches. Some of which are blue flag standard beaches.
Go to the tourist office near the marina in Torrevieja, there you can gain all sorts of information about the salt museum and other places of interest. Pick up the boat from the harbour and go to the island of Tabacc just off the coast. Well worth a visit, and don,t forget your snorkel gear as the waters are pristine and first class for snorkelling etc.
